First and foremost, they do a professional job on repairing luggage. On top of that, the main person behind the counter is very helpful in explaining what will be required for the repair and when it will be completed. Interestingly, the storefront actually faces Polk Street and not O'Farrell Street as its mailing address suggest. You might be surprised on how small the store is, with the space inside is tightly packed with luggage to be repaired with only space for a few customers at a time. Pro tip: If you need to physically drop off your luggage instead using some mail service, you might want to consider doing it on Saturday morning, where traffic and parking are more manageable.

Last time I needed luggage repair Malm was my go-to, but time passes, Malm closed, and I needed a suitcase repaired. Main was the closest, so I figured I'd try them.
Great service - took a look at the zipper, decided they could repair rather than replace (YAY!), and also could fix a broken frame problem. Price was reasonable. They told me they'd let me know when the repair was done, probably about a week. 6 days later they texted me the work was done. Very happy with the repair.
Friendly service, explained what needed to be done, and did it on schedule at a reasonable price = happy customer
Note: while the street address is on O'Farrell, the shop is a bit N of O'Farrell on Polk Street.

Great repairs! He replaced broken wheels on a roller bag using rollerblade type Wheels which are wonderful.

Little hole in the wall shop but they were friendly and fixed my inline wheeled suitcase. Great place if you’re looking to get your luggage fixed.

Great customer service. They came recommended from another high end store. Antonio was quick, responsive, customer-focused, friendly and offered good options with reasonable prices. I had to fly the next day and the zipper on my bag broke. Due to the urgency, we exchanged calls and photos via text. Communication along with options were clear, fast and prompt. Another competitor quoted 4-5 days but Antonio was quick, stayed longer than closing to get the job done and he and his team did a great job. Thanks so much particularly due to the short notice. You hold the bar high and have become a 'go-to'spot for me now for luggage, zippers and bag repairs!

Had a zipper fixed on a piece of luggage and I was so happy with my service! It was done so well, good price and in a timely manner. Took my luggage on a trip and stuffed my suitcase and the zipper didn’t fail! Highly recommend!

I was visiting the area from out of town, staying at a nearby hotel. The handle on my carry-on roller bag was not going up and down properly after it had fallen over. The owner of Main Luggage, realized what the problem was and showed me how I could try to bend it back into the correct alignment. He also applied some WD 40 to the handles where they go inside each other. What great customer service! He could have tried to sell me a new handle instead of helping me salvage the suitcase. It's friendly, honest and caring people like him that make you appreciate great local, small business owners.

I cant recommend this place enough! I've gone twice to have my roller bag repaired for different issues and both times I've received great service at a very reasonable price. The clerk explained the issue and how he was going to repair it. He did a good job, was efficient and kind. I love that places like this still exist in a world that is quick to buy and throw away with not much thought. Don't throw it away, get it fixed! :)

I wanted to fix three pieces of luggage and went elsewhere first. In the first shop, I was quickly charged $155. Then, I decided to go to the Main Luggage Service & Repair, and not only did they charge me $96, but they were much more detail-oriented. Unlike many other stores, the Main Luggage Service & Repair is focused on luggage, which is excellent since most places have a much higher demand for shoes, and they sometimes fix luggage. In addition, in the staff's opinion, I shouldn't invest in fixing the third luggage because it would never be 100% functional again, so I made a much more informed decision. I decided not to fix the third luggage and only paid $78. Please be aware that it takes a bit of work to park around.

I've walked by for 20 years, always figured I'd need a zipper, etc replaced. Went in & was treated with excellent, professional, and kind service.Was given a # of option to fix my loved Leather Sidebags broken zipper. Cost was extremely fair as Leather work is a Learned Skill. Try it at home if you disagree. In no time flat, I went back after Hoilday and it was done extremely fast, I was told to examine the work & take my Time to judge all the work ( a normal action in New England but not in California), a reality I've never been more pleased with in my 34 years in SF. Work was extremely skilled & flawless. Much better than Macys original zipper work. A ++ in Every Possible Aspect. As well its z very safe store. They keep the door locked so you will not face harassment from the areas rampaging & unpoliced Drug addicts. In fact they dont seem to the store exists! They are an absolute gem for all luggage purposes, if your in doubt simply call...they do much more work on much more than I was aware. Staff couldn't of been kinder. Big Thanks for staying at the location and being a positive part of the Community, rather than spreading negative experiences. I'm very grateful for all these aspects. I highly recommend them. I brought two pieces of luggage to replace the broken wheels on both and it was done in a week at a fair price. I recommend this place if you live around there as it's one of the few places who actually fix luggage.
