I received two very well considered and thoughtful consultations prior to purchasing a Leica M6 system. I am new to this kind of film and film-to-digital photography. I am being supported with great advice. I also have many questions and Carlo is happy to answer them. The service is excellent and the store is beautiful! Go see them!!!

Very nice location, but would highly recommend avoiding them.
I thought it'd be a good idea to do business with my local Leica shop rather than one of the mega-retailers out east like B&H, so I preordered a Q3 through Leica SF. A few months later I got a notification that I was near the front of the line, and could I tell them what accessories I'd like to pick up along with the camera. Not thinking much of it, I said I didn't need any accessories.
Many months later, I realized I'd apparently never gotten to the front of that line, so I contacted them about it. They said it must've been a technical problem and that they could get me one out of the next order. Just let them know which accessories I wanted.
Once again, I said I didn't need any accessories, and that was the last I heard from them. Totally ghosted.
We can read between the lines and infer that Leica SF makes all the lion's share of their commission off accessories, and without saying so explicitly, it's a pay to play situation. They'll give you your due, but only as long as you agree to scratch their back.
I pride myself in making this sort of mistake only once, and from on will be ordering from B&H or Adorama instead. They may be mega-retailers, but unlike my local Leica dealer, are principled. Would recommend avoiding trouble and wasted time by doing the same.

Bottom line, I've bought used gear here twice and was very happy. I will absolutely return next time I need/want something they sell. Longer version: I bought a IIIc from here about a year ago and just bought an M3 and both experiences were great. They have a pretty good stream of classic used gear and you can go there and see it in person if you're local. If you're not, the online store has good hi-res photos of all aspects of the gear. The staff is very helpful and in both my cases went out of their way to make sure that I got the best camera for me. Contrary to my expectations their prices are not much higher than what I see in online auctions. Unlike when buying from random folks online, I am confident that when I take a camera home from the Leica Store it will work well, and if it turns out that something is wrong that only shows up once I start really using the camera, they will fix it. The first camera I got here had a tiny light leak that only showed up occasionally. I showed them a scan of the negatives, and they fixed the camera and it's worked great since with no light leaks. My most recent purchase involved some confusion and indecision on my part and they were super accommodating with a next day exchange. Now I'm set up with the best camera for me and I'm really happy with it so far. Thanks!

There was a real mix up over a glitch in their system that sent me a message telling me my product was being delivered in a few days and it wasn't I was really upset but they did defuse me, took responsibility for what happened. Ultimately I cancelled the order because I find these wait times to be too precious

I've just ordered my first Leica system (and first digital system), from Sean at this store. Absolutely phenomenal experience. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, he met me at the Camera West location and went out of his way to make sure I had an opportunity to try out the SL2-S system and kit lens I was interested in. Sean took time to understand my photography background (which is almost entirely medium format film), and talked me through even competing brands so that I was confident I arrived at the correct choice. I very much look forward to a several year long relationship with this store and staff!Updated after about one month of ownership:I’ve done a few professional shoots on the SL2-S system I bought from Sean, and lots of street and architecture shooting in Florida and NYC. The camera system is the first digital camera I’ve fallen for that feels like a natural extension, like my Hasselblad. It’s nothing more than it needs to be, and is everything I want in a daily digital. The system gets out of the way, and it is an amazing experience.Sean had the camera shipped to me free in just a few days where I live in Florida. I will be a customer of this store for life, and look forward to an M6 next.

So every anecdote or rumor about Leica fanboys is true! Here is my story:One day I smashed a fanboy's head with my black-paint M10R and he complimented the beauty and solidness of Leica before passing out, then I told him I put Voigtländer on it suddenly he woke up and blamed my blasphemy. In the end I put a brand new 8-element summicron into his mouth and he finally rested in peace.
