I've been buying this jerky for over 30 years... I haven't been able to buy any since Covid till now. I don't know if this was a bad batch or if they changed the recipe? It's not like the old days. The flavor is rather bland instead of that old sugary savory flavor. I'll try it again and hope it's like the old days... if not it will sadly be my last time purchasing it.

Read the other reviews and look at the pics first before checking out this market. Don't go on a Wednesday because they're closed. The hours are wrong on yelp and google. Even though the hours posted on the door states 2-7pm, the employee/owner does not feel he needs to be there on time. I was there at 2 and waited 15 mins before leaving. Later, I called to see if the store was opened and an employee answered stating that he usually opens at 2:30 because he's coming from another location. I don't understand why he can't just change his hours to reflect the actual hours here's there. This happened to another individual before so this might be the norm. Today was my second attempt in coming to this location. Left empty handed and disappointed. However, after looking at some other reviewer's pics, maybe it was for the best.

Came here to buy 8 bags of beef jerky, ordered ahead of time. So I came and picked up 10 bags cause guy said he got not guarantee anyone for tow days later. Guy was totally rude and couldn't care less about selling goods nor about customer service, and bid bags are only 7oz, and is $16. When I paid this time with credit card, I was charged extra $6.36 for credit card fee, which guy didn't say anything about. So much for someone who owns Meat market at Ferry Building buying a community institution and nickel and dime it's customers. Maybe other customers will feel the same as if we are lucky enough to be able to buy their beef jerky and will boycott businesses that treat customers bad!!

They have the best beef jerky in the Chinatown/North Beach/Nob Hill area.I grew up on this jerky and it brings back good memories.I bring the jerky back home to LA when I visit. It's a good thing they vacuum pack the jerky so you can throw it in the refrigerator and eat it when you need some comfort food.Buyer alert:The Jackson Market is on top of a steep hill at Jackson and Jones.Either drive or take the bus on Pacific and walk up.It is a long hike from the heart of Chinatown and it is worth every ounce of sweat. :-):-):-)Tim in the store provide excellent customer service.

First time buying beef jerky in many years, I remember it being more flavorful and more tender, not much flavor and way too tough. I'll pass on this from now on.

This place is so good and the employees are so nice! They also have little fish to look at in a tank. I definitely recommend going here.

The key to getting the beef jerkey to tenderize is to not open it for a few days. The moisture of the marinade needs to break down the meat fibers. At least 48 hours or longer will help soften the meat. Beef jerky is dried to remove the moisture. One cow only yields 400 pounds of beef jerkey.

Bought 8 large packages at Christmas for gifts. $25.00 each. 3 packages were inedible. I wrote them and Bob said they had to switch meat because of a shortage of the meat they usually use. He only said next time you buy we will get you the softest ones. I also bought a few months prior to Christmas and one package was inedible but I tried to give them some slack. Won't be buying there anymore. I have been buying there for over 50 years.

The cashier Ananta was so sweet and had such knowledge about every product. She advised I get the manchego and it was definitely worth it. Without a doubt they have the best beef jerky in San Francisco.

I have been buying the beef jerky from this place for many years. I grew up in the neighborhood. It was excellent until last couple of purchases. It's tough and chewy. It doesn't taste the same. They must have changed the recipe. Sorry, won't buy anymore.

Classic San Francisco Chinese beef jerky. My grandparents bought this terrific beef jerky from them when I was growing up. Still there!
