My friend and I came by after eating at Hot Sauce and Panko across the street. We went into J&H Grocery because we had some extra trash we needed to throw out and we wanted to buy snacks and drinks. Upon putting our trash in their trash can, the employee behind the counter yelled at us to tell us not to put our trash in his bin. We immediately took it out saying "sorry we didn't know," and the employee says "why don't you take your trash and throw it in the Chinese people's face," while pointing across the street to the beloved Asian fusion chicken restaurant, Hot Sauce and Panko. He repeated this several times while rushing us out of the door. My friend and I were shocked and confused by his racist remarks and extremely rude attitude towards us. We decided to go to Hyde & Pacific Liquors a block down the street and enjoyed the much more pleasant service and wider selection of food and drinks to enjoy. The other reviews of J & H echo the same pattern of rudeness towards customers. Do yourself a favor and skip this corner store on your next quest for snacks, drinks and other essentials and pay the much more friendly and non racially charged corner store a visit.

The store owners are extremely rude and unprofessional. Walked into his store with the intention of shopping, but we were rudely screamed at when we tried a throw away some trash away in the store's trash bin. The owners shouted at us, telling us to get out of their store and throw the trash in the "Chinese guy's face" instead. We apologized and removed our trash from their bin, but the owner continued to rush us out and say racially-charged things towards us. We literally tried to throw our trash away and were verbally attacked by the owners. We left so confused. Not sure if the owners are racist or have something against Chinese people, but we won't be coming here again and neither should you. There's a corner store down the street that we went to instead, which had friendly owners unlike J&H.

Please do not shop here. Just like the other reviews the employees are very rude and lazy. They overcharge on everything and some of their items are expired. The Tobacco products are all damaged. I have lived in Nob Hill for years and really never had a good experience at this place and will not be back. Please walk to Nob Hill Liquors to make purchases. Do not shop here.

Mediocre stuff with nothing special. Feels like a pit stop type of place. There's more drinks than anything else in this store. The employee who was working there at the time was very passive and rude. Wouldn't recommend.

So just leaving the store - I live in the neighborhood and shop here on a somewhat frequent basis. Well tonight I was accused of stealing. I always look at the Cannes wine selection to see if they got anything new - if fact - there has been more wine in a can since I asked if they could get other kinds. I looked at a few new one for the prices and decided to get beer instead. I grabbed two other items and proceeded to the counter where the clerk looked at me up and down and said "didn't you grab something from the first cooler?" I said "no...I just got this and pointed to my items." He looked at me suspiciously and rang me up. I felt there was obvious tension. And said "I don't steal." Then his response was "let me look in your bag". Ha! I see this clerk every night when I walk by going to work. Maybe he didn't recognize me but I don't need to steal a can of shitty wine and then pay for two items that are a lot higher quality and more expensive than a CAN OF WINE. So I was highly offended and disappointed and said "I shop here all the time and spend money here - you really thought I stole something! I'm not shopping here anymore and I want my money back." He then told me "I don't know how to do refunds. You'll have to come back tomorrow during the day and get one." What the actual F*#k - first I get accused of stealing, have to show that I didn't steal something, then am told that an employee who's worked at the store for years was never trained in how to do a refund? I've worked in enough places to now that's like one of the first thing you learn how to do. I'm never shopping here ever again. To the man that works Friday nights - I will be calling tomorrow to inform the owner about what happened.
