This tour was free with our National Parks Annual Pass. It was an opportunity to take advantage of it.
Fun visit with children.
Nice view.
The reconstituted hold as in the era is great! It looks like it!

We went on a windy and cloudy day this May 2023 and the 2 schooners were amazing - not many people around. We got to walk around the decks although a few areas were restricted in each boat. The Eureka Ferry boat is currently closed for renovations, but we got a quick peek. You can see my other review on the Eureka if you search maps for the boat itself.Seals were also laying on the dock near the boats - appearing to be waiting for the sun to appear despite it being cold, cloudy, and windy.Slightly overpriced at 15 bucks each, especially being that the Eureka is closed and the most appealing boat, but it appears that the higher price may help a wee bit with the maintenance budget - ha.One more thing, we were told that you can visit over a 7 day period with a ticket purchase.

Wonderful historic ships! When my wife and I came to Ghirardelli Square, we were just walking around and stumbled upon this little gem. Couldn't have been more pleased with what we found! The ships are really well maintained and in excellent condition. Lots of history in each vessel. I also thought it was cute that the staff also would do tours for kids and allow them to be part of a ships crew. Not sure how to reserve that, but they kids seemed like they were having a blast.

In 5th grade we went here for an overnight field trip and it was lots of fun! It was to simulate what working on a ship was like in 1906, and even though it was hard work I had fun! I was on the boat crew and we learned how to row a boat but unfortunately the place where they launched the boat from was being repaired. One of the things we did was night watch were we took turns “guarding” the ship at night, my shift was at 3 am and boy was the city beautiful, especially ghiradelli square. It was somewhat concerning that people were swimming in the freezing water that early in the morning.

Very exciting experience. A plethora of historic vessels and exhibits made this place very fulfilling. I appreciate how you can actually board and explore the ships, rather than viewing from afar. This is a must for any naval history buff.
