What a relief! People who actually know plants and their light/water requirements! Something I've found lacking at other garden centers in San Francisco...

This Nursery is awesome. Their plants are top notch and are shipped promptly and professionally. I was more than pleased and recommend these folks to everyone.

What a great find. Came to check out California native plant's next door and “discovered “ this beautiful, well kept nursery. They have a nice, vibrant, well kept selection of native plants , sun and shade loving variety, lots of other indoor and outdoor plants. I appreciate the fact the staff was friendly, helpful and informative( this is a great plus given the few grumpy nursery owners I have encountered recently if you ask more then one question).Another big plus is their prices which are sure reasonable, allowing me to choose a nice diversity of pollinating plants that serve local bird and insect population, some medicinal plants as well

This is easily one of the best plant stores in San Francisco. The selection of native and exotic plants is really different from most other places.Everything from microplants to trees... Ground cover to wall ivy.All plants are healthy and flowering.I live on the other side of the city but I make it out to hero's head at least once a month. The prices are really good for the size and quality. The owner is super helpful and very knowledgeable on zones, design and care. It's located next to bay natives which is also very cool but has a slimmer, more local collection.Parking is easy.

Great helpful staff that’s very knowledgeable. It’s a pleasant experience to explore thru their selection of plants. Will definitely go back for more plants. They have easy parking and also adjacent to Bay natives

Heron's Head Nursery feels like a lush oasis. Seriously felt rejuvenated just being there. If I still worked in the Bayview, I would want to go there to hang out and wander around on a regular. They have a wide variety of plants at reasonable prices.Leila and Elliott were both really helpful and pointed out some plants that could be suitable for our yard project. They also mentioned that we should check out Bay Natives next door since we were specifically looking for CA native plants.

I live on the east coast and had been looking for a specific type of tree for months to no avail. I discovered that herons head had stock of this tree and were willing to ship it cross country. When I received the tree, I found that the top branches had unfortunately snapped during transport. The team at herons head generously sent me another one free of charge.

Heron’s is not as fancy as Flora Grub ( which I also like). Heron’s is next door to Bay Area Native Plants. You can freely walk from one to the other. Things are well labeled and priced. Staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are not big box store cheap but the selection is of course much better. They have herbs, fruit trees, all sorts of things- sand of course Bay Area native plants. They even have an espresso machine- not sure if they start it up on WE’s. I got some nice plants and I would recommend it to anyone. Also interesting destination- since the dog park and eco house is right across the street.

Pass through a gate at Bay Area Natives and you will be at Heron's Head Nursery. Find a wide variety of drought tolerant plants for your local garden. The nursery is smallish, so expect to find a few of everything / not huge quantities. You can find succulents, ferns, bromelaids, sedge, etc. When I was there I didn't see many kitchen garden plants (eg tomatos, cucumbers), and also not many flowers. The complex is eclectic and full of interesting people and sights. You can also visit the goats and chickens

Plans and animals. A great combination. This is a lovely lively nursery where you can buy some fantastic plants. Great to bring the kids here too and see the chickens and goats. I bought a lemon rosemary that smells divine and a black eyed Susan vine with yellow flowers. The staff were wonderful. There was a live concert in the back the day I visited and nursery volunteers were grooving away to some great music. A very special treat. Chatting with the owner I learned that they just opened recently. Please visit this place if you want to buy a plant. Heron's Head park is just across the street from the nursery. I highly recommend this locale as a great spot to get away from the bustling city while still in the city.

Visited last year to get herbs for our patio garden and was a little underwhelmed with selection, but wow what a difference a year makes. The nursery is stunning and full of beautiful native and non native plants. Cannot wait to upgrade the new balcony with these gorgeous flowers.
