Entering was confusing since there’s no front desk or lobby and the front door is locked but luckily some guests were coming out and we were able to get in that way. As for getting the room key, you need to call the business and they give you a code to enter on an app that you can then use to unlock the room. It was kind of a hassle but no big deal. Room was nice! Although a little small and the walls are pretty thin. The bed was comfortable although creaky. I had no problem with the shared shower/toilet :) Also cannot beat the location!! It does get kind of loud but you can just close the window…I would stay here again for sure. The prices are really good for what you get.

An actual gem, if you’re not super picky and just want a clean comfy place to sleep. This isn’t a place for snobby people that will complain that it smells like old building in the hallway downstairs (some of us actually find that charming) or who can’t wait 10 minutes to use the shower (shared bathrooms are never fun but saving money on accommodation when you plan to explore all day is!). It seems to attract nice guests as everyone we encountered seemed friendly. They provide tea in the kitchen, along with anything you’d need to prep a meal. Really happy with our time here and would definitely return.

This is where young and old meet: old buildings, but the room door is unlocked via an app.You don't see anyone from hotel management. Everything can be done by email or telephone, even the hotel entrance door is opened with a code. The room size is okay, the window is closed, but it gives the impression that it is open - so the noise from the street can be heard well.Overall, a noisy house. It's always pretty warm in the room. There is a bar on the ground floor. It's usually noisy from the street that passes by.10 rooms have to share 2 toilets and a shower in the hallway. The beds are a bit short and you lie crooked because the mattress gives way.The carpet shows that some guests have already stayed here.WiFi very good.Lots of homeless people in the area (Tenderloin drug district is not far away). One problem is parking your own vehicles: there are no parking spaces.Street cleaning comes on the street at night, so it is forbidden. There is also a warning about car break-ins. So it's better to take it to one of the nearby parking garages. It's expensive, but probably the only chance. Finally, it was very negative that access to the room was blocked 30 minutes before check-out time.

Lovely place and I will stay another week. But the rooms are heated all day while there is moderate temperature outside making the room unbearable. Opened the window but there is a generator or other massive noise machine outside the window in this side making an open window impossible. It’s loud with the window closed. Love it but prolly nothing to do about the noise - a surprise the city allows that next lodging space - so please shut off the heat. Save you money!

Very nice stay in the heart of Hayes Valley! Loved the location, walkable with plenty of transport & dining options. We stayed in annex building hence the room was quiet but did not have a sink, neither was as spacious as advertised online. Shared kitchen was equipped but a few extra items like clean sponge, dishwashing liquid and a dish cloth would make the stay even more comfortable and homey. 5* for cleanliness & a pleasant stay overall.

I stayed here years ago BEFORE the pandemic when I brought my daughter to college in SF. Then it was lovely with an amazing breakfast and tea time. All items were working and it was cozy. This trip was the complete opposite of that experience. They no longer have a breakfast or tea time. The community kitchen had no working coffee pot or hot water maker for tea. The dish washer was broken and the fridge was absolutely filthy and filled with the housekeeping staffs food and condiments. The first room I was assigned had a bed that was as hard as a rock. I was there for 5 days and absolutely could not sleep on it. I called and requested a room change and the next room had a bed that was better. The rest of the trip went well until upon packing for my return home I realized that my iPad was missing. I had not used it since the night I arrived and had placed in in my travel bag that I didn’t need to go into until I was ready to depart. As soon as I realized it was missing I called to report it.. this was September 24th. I have tried following up several times to never receive a call back from Linda the general manager. I was told by the agent who took my report there would be an investigation and a claim filed with their insurance for my stolen property and I have not heard a word from anyone. Even when I had to make a 3rd follow up call I was rudely questioned as to why I took so long to call back! Like it is my job to track down somone to to help me when I have been wronged. Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. No one gave a damn that my personal belongings were searched and my property stolen. It’s now October 10th and I have yet to hear back,This place is horrible as a business and not safe for your personal property. There are no safes in the room so nothing is safe to be left there!!!! I will be leaving reviews one every platform there is to warn others to not stay here because LINDA AND HAYES VALLEY INN DOESN’T CARE ABOUT YOU JUST YOUR MONEY AND WHAT THEIR STAFF CAN FREELY STEAL!!!!Safety: No safe in rooms! Do not leave your electronics or valuables because the staff steals and the hotel allows it!!!

If you're willing to forgo a private bathroom and large living space, this hotel is in the center of downtown SF... and it's a great price! This antique hotel invokes the feeling of large city living with old Town vibesRooms: 25 Sq Ft

Ok so room was clean, I just don’t believe it was wise to get the hotel booked because parking sucked, I paid for a nice priced hotel, and than I had to pay for stupid parking in a garage. Hotel is loud outside during day and up until midnight…BUT it’s fair to deal with. I did not like the ceiling fan because it does get hot in the room and they didn’t have fans nor a air conditioner. Their was on a couple of occasions that asked for something and they said they would be an assistants and they lagged it. So with that said I give this hotel a 3 star rating. Definitely won’t come back.

This place deserves a good rating. We stayed two separate times. The location is great, Queen beds are comfy and the hotel has a homely feeling. The community room was one of the best things with a nice view on the street. If we’re in SF we’ll come back again!

- very nice room, shared bathrooms also clean- beautiful (shared) kitchen area- really vibrant neighbourhoodNoteworthy details: As described when you book it, there is rarely someone at the reception, you check-in via a code that they send you (easy & fast)
