Contacted customer service early November 2023 about a defective snow globe that had turned dark and murky. They waited long enough to respond in January 2024 that it was now out of stock. They said that they have no future shipments planned of the item (they have carried the item for over 10 years, so that wasn't believable). We have unsubscribed from emails and do not plan to purchase any further items from Dumps.

Gump's reputation speaks for itself and even just stopping by as a lookie loo does t disappoint. 1/2 off holiday sale is in full swing but know that they now close on weekdays at 5pm sharp, and no longer open on Sundays. Enjoy your browse!!

An amazing store with so many unique items. I always find something memorable to buy. Unfortunately, San Francisco has become an unlivable cesspool and Gump’s will probably be relocating. Wherever they go, I wish them well, they are a one of a kind.

This recent visit to Gump’s will be my last. The street conditions are abysmal. Getting threatened to be beaten if I don’t give them what they want. People shooting up drugs right in front of store. Called names, just horrible. I saw two car break-ins that happen in broad daylight. Smash, grab, and walk away. Wasn’t even in a rush. No cops anywhere. Like the Wild West where drug dealers and criminals have taken over. No repercussions for crime, so it is a criminals dream come true.I hope they move to somewhere safer, as they have been around so long. Do your customers and employees a favor by moving to somewhere safer. Is just a matter of time before someone gets hurt or worse. So sad what SF has become. Was such a beautiful city. I used to live there years ago but will never be back. A turnaround under current leader ship is hopeless.

I love Gumps for its elegance even though I can't afford to shop there, I have loved visiting it occasionally because it reminds of urban SF's former beauty. It's disturbing that downtown is now barren, bleak and full of addiction and despair.

I had ordered several Christmas gifts on December 1. 4 of the gifts had not arrived when I was leaving town on December 17. I tried to cancel the 4 items since I would be gone and they were Christmas gifts. I was told if it was too late to cancel I would be sent a return authorization. After I returned on January 7, the 4 items had been delivered on December 19, but no return authorization was ever sent. When I called Gumps Customer Care I was told that 2 of the 4 items could not be returned since they were Christmas items and Christmas had passed. the Customer Service rep was extremely rude and not helpful. After buying from Gumps for many years, I will never use them again and encourage everyone to not use them either.

I used to love this exquisite store. I've purchased fantastic Christmas ornaments throughout the years. This time was different. I ordered a "Bird of Paradise" ornament WEEKS ago. It wasn't shipped until a few days before Christmas. We opened it and thought we received the wrong ornament. It looked nothing like the catalogue ornament. I went to return it due to their over the top "If you are not happy PLEASE return it" policy. When I asked to do that they said they do not accept Holiday Item returns OR exchanges (which I would have been fine with). Let's get back to this cheap and strange looking ornament. Whomever is in charge of quality control should be fired. This is not a Bird of Paradise. It looks like a cheap and headless dinosaur. This was a $65 ornament and then I splurged for the $10 gift box. Happy with the box - and that's it. VERY unhappy and no longer customer. Come on Gump's - at least let me exchange this thing and keep me as a customer. It's seriously ugly.

This review is about the Christmas section. Most of the ornaments aren't my style, but I purchased for someone else. The staff is welcoming and courteous, even on the phone. I had a seamless ornament hold and pickup experience the other day. Feels nice to support an SF classic.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. Absolutely the worst establishment I have ever been to. My husband and I walked into this store earlier today and as soon as we walked in, we overheard the front door security signal to another gentleman to watch us and were immediately FOLLOWED throughout our journey in the store. My husband happened to be wearing a beanie and sweatpants - I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it but the fact is, being followed around in a store is unacceptable. We immediately left. The funniest thing is, we had just come from Cartier across the street where we had just bought jewelry so ironic they profiled us and had us followed to ensure their ornaments and cheap and cheesy holiday decor were safe. Disgusted beyond belief.

So, so happy Gump’s is back. If you love speciality gift shops as much as I do, shop at/order from Gump’s. Yes, it’s spendy, but some occasions call for laying out extra dollars. I particularly stay alert for sales. Truth is that if people do not shop at special stores such as Gump’s, they will disappear.Gump’s is extra special at Christmas time. The first floor sparkles with the most wonderful tree decorations. If, like me, you need purchases shipped, be confident that fragile glass ornaments will arrive quickly and securely.
