What a pile of garbage. I have one outside of my building and all it does is attract crime, vandalism and blight while cutting down on available parking. I used it once and it wasn't even convenient or a good deal. Take this trash out of town.

MY MESSAGE TO GETAROUND...I wish I had checked YELP before throwing away 3 days of aggravation trying to rent from them. In the end Im going w Hertz! Sometimes, old standys are the easier, better choice. "I have been trying to rent from you now for THREE DAYS!What a disaster and a colossal waste of my time as I prepare for my birthday weekend. You have the pomposity to frame the situation as 'you have encountered a problem' rather than 'we have failed to provide a smooth enrollment for you'. I have done everything you asked at every step of the game, and I am still without a car. You should be embarrassed and ashamed, but you aren't. You don't sound the least bit humble. Your solution is 'try again later' today or tomorrow. If I wanted a car tomorrow, I wouldn't be trying to rent a car for today.Patronizing! Inefficient. Insulting. Your customer service sucks. What you ought to offer instead of hollow empty apologies is a deeply discounted rental if not a fully comped trip. SHAME ON YOU. Yes, what a shame!! And all this on my birthday weekend when I am trying to enjoy a special getaway with a friend I haven't seen in years. Well, thank you very much!! NOT!!

Beyond terrible customer service, well into fraud territory. Under no circumstances trust this company with your vehicle or your credit card! Getaround charged me $1,000 to repair the mark in the attached picture. The only problem is there was no service to repair the mark. When I returned the vehicle I did not notice the mark, when a claim was opened I returned to where it was parked and rubbed my thumb over it and it disappeared completely which can be seen in the other attached picture. Getaround charged my card and promptly cut off all communication. They ignored me when I asked for a copy of the invoice for $2,200 (what they claimed it cost to fix). They ignored me when I sent them proof that there was zero damage to the vehicle. I am currently working with my credit card to get the charge removed from my card.

Getaround is hands down one of the worst car rental services I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. From start to finish, my experience with Getaround was an absolute nightmare.Once I finally managed to book a car, I thought the worst was behind me, but I was sorely mistaken. The condition of the vehicle I rented was abysmal. It was dirty, smelled like a wet dog, and had stains on the seats that looked like they had been there for years. I had to spend valuable time cleaning the car myself just to make it somewhat tolerable.During my rental, I had to deal with a host of mechanical issues. The car was a total lemon, and I feared it might break down at any moment. It's clear that they do not properly maintain their fleet.To top it off, they claimed 1100 EUR of damage that we did not cause, our lawyer contacted them to dispute this claim and they never replied to his email. We are now pushing forward with our legal action.In summary, Getaround is a complete disaster. The website is a mess, their customer service is non-existent, the cars are in terrible condition, and their app is an absolute nightmare to deal with. If you value your time, money, and sanity, stay far, far away from Getaround. There are far better car rental options out there.

if I could give zero star, I absolutely would their customer services terrible. I was charged an additional extension fee which by the way was $19. When I brought it to their attention, they told me they were unable to help me. So sorry. The car was in bad shape. The engine made a noise when you started it. And I'm still waiting on my security deposit.

I use Getaround because it is super convenient. Usually you can find a car in close proximity to you during the times you need it. On the other hand the cars are usually dirty and smell. Don't use Getaround if you are trying to impress someone with your ride.

I have posted 3 vehicles and have it rented about 15 times in the period of 45 and is been 45 days today calling every day and sending emails and still don't get paid. Nobody there knows anything about solving the problem.And be careful if someone smoke in the car, because they will need a video of the renter smoking inside of the car to pay you, because I had sent pictures of the ashes let all over the car and they said is not enough proof. and when car is dirty or extremely dirty they will pay you a ridiculous $10 to clear de car.****DO NOT WASTE YOU TIME AND MONEY****

I cannot emphasize enough that you should not rent from this company. They rent out dangerous vehicles, provide no substantive customer service, and up charge you with fees. The vehicle we rented was badly damaged and had clearly been in an accident, with front passenger side completely repaired with bondo and badly repainted. The alarm kept going off randomly. By the far the worst of all, the accelerator got stuck on the floor at one point, so that we were flying at maximum speed down the highway with no way to stop. I somehow managed to get my toe under the pedal and yank it back into position, but my life and those of 5 of my friends were seriously endangered. I tried reporting this incident and honestly, I'm not sure I ever talked to anything but bots. They kept assuring me they work with hosts to ensure safe vehicles (not remotely true) but wouldn't address any of my specific concerns. After weeks of repetitive back and forth, they offered me 20% off a future rental. They never addressed my experience or assured me the vehicle was taken out of rotation. They also have a lot of fine print charges, including a mileage overage fee that ultimately makes the rental more expensive than a traditional one. Do not rent from this company. Go somewhere reputable.

BEWARE! Getaround will SCAM you. Rented a Jeep that had mechanical issues and broke down on the top of a snow-covered mountain. Called Getaround support and they said that a tow company would call and I'd have to pay for the tow. Nobody ever called back. The Jeep was stuck in the middle of the road for 4 hours and an opposing vehicle needed to pass. It was too narrow and they scrapped the Jeep. None of this would have happened if the Jeep were as advertised and roadworthy.Getaround charged me $1000 for the damage without any receipts or itemization for what was fixed. There's no transparency whatsoever. Customer service is laughably atrocious. No phone number, everything through email, they don't acknowledge anything you write and just send canned responses. No appeals process. The $1000 charge just shows up on your credit card. I filed a credit card charge back claim but it was denied since the damage fee is part of their ToS. Getaround can literally make up any number and you have to pay it. The only recourse is arbitration through FairClaims but the deck is completely stacked against you - Getaround is hiring them as the arbitrator! Total SCAM!STAY AWAY! Trip was ruined, stuck in the cold for 4 hours, and nobody came to help. No compensation, instead they CHARGE ME $1000. This company is completely unethical and should not be allowed to do business. The cars aren't maintained. They take zero accountability. Customer service is a joke. When something goes wrong, you foot the bill. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy.

I have been a long term customer of Getaround, I have recently noticed that many of the cars available for rent are in an unsafe condition to drive. Unfortunately, Getaround has not taken any responsibility to address this issue, which is a major concern for me as a customer. Additionally, I have recently experienced a breach of privacy wheee my phone number has been shared with a car owner without my consent. I have been questioned by the owner as to why cancelled my trip on their car. This has left me feeling uncomfortable and uneasy. If I wanted to deal with the individuals directly, I would not have chosen to use Getaround's service.

Ran into a sudden severe snowstorm in Portland, Oregon where I had rented a car through Getaround. Had to have it towed back to the home zone. Called Getaround support and they worked hard and did their best to ensure a good experience for me regarding the rental and made sure I was safe. They promised over the phone everything would be worked out and they kept to their word. Five stars for ease of use of their platform and great customer service. -Jesse from Portland

I gave up my car a few years ago and at one time City Car Share or Zip Car was the car between. With Getaround, you're renting your neighbors car. I love that idea that someone isn't using their car and I'm utilizing it. Prices are good and it works out better to rent for an entire day. The great thing is, it's fine all electronically so you don't have to meet the car owner to get keys. Be aware that it's easier t find the car and park it if you click on the designated parking spot. Lots of owners rent spaces and it's much easier then walking g around trying to find the car! I'm so happy this exists for us urban and City dwellers.

Reserved a car through the application. At first I'm told that I would have to wait a little longer to pick the car up because it was on a closed lot. Apparently I missed a call en route to the location AFTER my newly promised pickup time. I arrive and I'm told that they discovered that the check engine light is on, so the car was taken to a repair shop, and is now unavailable. I'm offered older and smaller cars, yet this is not what I paid for. The "best" thing they can offer me is a $40 credit for a future rental. UNACCEPTABLE! If this situation isn't rectified properly there won't be any future rentals. And possibly up to a $25 dollar reimbursement for a ride to a location that has the next best available vehicle. Mind you I'm over an hour away from home as is. Cold and rainy day dealing with this to boot. I'm beyond frustrated.

Same experience as everyone else here. Had an issue that was poorly solved by their roadside assistance team. Was charged $200 over late fees (I reported the accident way before my return time) and am getting no reply from the customer service team. UPDATE: Even though I got this message that I would get a refund, it's been over 7 days since I wrote an email asking for a refund and so far no replies. I open other tickets on getaround complaining about the lack of response and they just get closed without any action.
