Best sandwiches in SF. Gene is always friendly and fast, plus he knows exactly how I like my sammy. Typical liquor and snacks available too. It's kind of a hidden gem tucked in the sunset district. There's always nice music when I walk in.

Gene (Hamik) took back over the store as of yesterday. From that racist woman who had it the past two years. Sandwiches are back on point and great service. He needs all the support he can get. It’s back to the way it was a few years ago ?

After avoiding Gene's in recent times due to its demise during the time Hamik's ex-wife rode the business into the ground, I returned on a whim to find that Hamik was back and operating Gene's Liquors once again.He explained to me that the ex is completely out of the picture with regards to the business and he now has full control. I ordered a regular Atomic Sub to determine if it has returned to the quality that it had during the prime years. He asked me if I wanted everything and I said "make it the way you eat it" and he said his includes extra jalapeños. As expected, everything was perfect in the slightly toasted sub with a great balance of Turkey, Corned Beef, and Pastrami. I let him know that his Liquor & Deli was/is an institution in the Sunset District and that it's great to have him back!

If you're looking for a quick & delicious sandwich,toasted to perfection you should really give Gene's liquor a try! After a 3 year hiccup Gene's has returned to the great sandwich store from the past. The name Gene's liquor is a little misleading, although it's a liquor store it's forte is the sandwiches , the portions are generous & toasted if you want! It's wonderful to see Gene's liquor return to the Parkside. Truly a diamond in the rough !!!

I walked in for a powerball, got surprised by the chime. The lady asked me in the sternest manner, “is something funny?” She felt offended by me saying hi in my friendliest tone.I asked for a powerball and she said it wasn’t working. Dunno what’s going on and I hope everything goes well for her.
