My local market always comes through. They’re always open at the right time when you’re missing that one baking ingredient, craving that particular snack, or on your way to a party and need to bring a good bottle. And the owner is such a welcoming and friendly guy. ????

I believe this is the market that my grandparents owned in 1908. I think it was called Henry's. They lived with my father and uncle up the street at 4159 17th Street. My father was born in 1910 and lived there until they moved to the valley to Modesto to farm and raise chickens and milk cows. My father always drove us by the store and house when we visited San Francisco when I was a child. I have a great picture of my grandparents and dad and uncle on the front porch of the house which I am pleased to know still stands. I have a set of beautiful stemware glasses that were sitting on the dining table during the SF fire and earthquake that my mother always loved to tell the story of how none were broken. Obviously, I have a flood of memories because my father always spoke so fondly of these times even though he was only seven when they moved. His heart will always be in San Francisco. I also have a great picture of my grandfather attending the Banquet of SF Grocers in 1914 at the Del Monico Restaurant at Geary and Mason Streets. Anyway, was feeling nostalgic and just wanted to share. Have a great day and Go Giants!! Lillian Gatzman

Great selections of all needs. Nick and his Eureka Market has been a wonderful neighbor and business in historic Eureka Valley (1881) - first organized neighborhood in San Francisco and proud home of the friendly and progressive Castro community since the late 1970s. .

Great convenience store. Nick, the owner, is awesome and always gives my dog a treat. Decent selection of craft beer - love the Dogfish Head seaquench ale!

Dishonest. I came here to buy some pricier specialty liquors. When I got home, I was notified of the charge on my credit card, and they overcharged my credit card by several dollars. Perhaps they thought I wouldn't notice since the purchase was over 100 dollars, but I did. The clerk also did not offer me a receipt, making it even more suspicious. Rather unfortunate. I hope the several dollars were worth it.
