This is a review of Costco in SF. COSTCO is Costco. But I much prefer the store in Palm Desert where I live now. It is so much more civilized even if you do roast on the walk from the parking lot to the store. San Francisco store was never this clean and the lines to checkout are horrible in SF. The parking garage in SF is always a fight to find a spot.

Often rude, don’t explain why they aren’t able to help with prescriptions sent in. If they do explain, it’s condescending and expect you to understand medical terminology.

They are always super helpful at this Costco pharmacy. Johnny the cashier appears gruff, but always goes out of his way to work with the pharmacist (who is also super nice) to make sure my important prescriptions get filled before I leave the store.

Cheapest prescriptions in town. They can be slow, but as I said--cheapest prescriptions in town.

It's not really a full service pharmacy. They outsource to an off-site fulfillment center. This is merely a pickup site for nearly everything. If you need something in a hurry this is not the answer. It's the first Costco service I haven't enjoyed and will transfer my Rx elsewhere. Per the staff there every local Costco is the same. While you can decline that service it may slow down the processing even further. Weird.

Good for when your medication isn't covered by insurance. You don't need a Costco card to use their pharmacy.

Waited 10 minutes for an "escort" to the pharmacy, and then another 20 while they re-entered the health insurance info. Not worth the hassle IMO.

If I call in and get a particular lab technician, I have to mentally prepare myself for some serious belittling. I have considered hanging up any time he answers. His tone is condescending and the audible annoyed exhales over reasonable questions. I needed to speak directly with a pharmacist and asked to be transferred and was met with a "whatever". He has been there in person a few times and has been the same way, like he can't believe I had the nerve to pick up my meds. when he had better thing to do- It wasn't even busy! The pricing is great, and every other person there has been great, which is why I continue to out up with the abuse. My advise to that lab technician: Go follow your dreams doing what you actually want to do. It will make the whole world happier.

Good prices, but I ended up switching to an online pharmacy due one particular staff member who was consistently rude to me. It’s a shame, because I really enjoyed interacting with everyone else.

This Costco is the worst one in the Bay Area. Customer service was s**** the food court was s*** with multiple items missing like soda and ketchup! How the hell do you run out of soda and ketchup? The warehouse is a mess. Overall feel of the place is doing their bare minimum and not putting much effort into up keep.

Customer service is not great. Cashier was rude to me. I'm a newer member of Costco and didn't know the process of having your card scanned first before they start scanning your items. While checking out, I was confused, and the cashier was super rude to me. Not kind of helpful or gently saying, "excuse me, I need to scan your card first please" but rather rudely spoke to me. It was flustering for me and frustrating.

Customer Service used to be so good at Costco but not anymore. At the pharmacy and the old guy gets mad cuz I put in my credit card too soon even though the machine is flashing at me to put in my credit card. So I guess he has to rescan my Rx and then he says to pay with cash or debit. And I just use Apple Pay cuz that's what I always use there (at the pharmacy yes!) and then he gets all riled up and says his manager is going to have to reverse the charge. WHY WOULD THE CC MACHINE ACCEPT A CHARGE THAT IS NOT ALLOWED? And how come it was allowed a couple weeks ago but not today? Well that rude behavior is forcing me to cancel my Costco membership that I've had since 1999. Oh well, I always spend more than I save cuz of all their 'gotcha' products I really don't need.
