Cute place full of amazing little treasures but I do find some of the prices are unreasonable. I saw an IKEA teared tray that was priced at $38 that wasn't even worth that new (I have two of them that I've used for years). My roommate bought a lemon squeezer for more than the price of it new (it was still in it's packaging but that's still outrageous). There may be some good finds but make sure to look up what you're buying first to make sure it's worth what it's being sold for, and see if you can get barder for a more reasonable price.

5/14/2024 The owner is exceedingly intelligent and helpful. Not only a sales-person She goes to France and buys old baking and cooking devices. Very Kind + exceedingly intelligent regarding old but in great condition , some under-priced but the store is a big and filled with some rare items alongside modern 'Cookin' Devices. Remember this store for all your '
"Cookin" Needs. The best of old San Francisco and the best of anything "Cookin" regards. Paul Czubay

This is my favorite shop in SF. It’s a great place if you know what you’re looking for. I’ve bought a cast iron pot, cooling rack, serving tongs, a stove top espresso maker, and a few cooking books over the years. Beautiful, functional kitchen gear all in excellent condition. The owner is no nonsense but incredibly interested and knowledgeable.

Cool store but as I was leaving, I said "Quite the collection." She just said "Mhm." I asked "Did you travel for a lot of it?" Owner just said "SOME of it, not all of it." And I said "Very cool store. Thank you," as I was leaving. Not a peep from her. Like, ok. I hate people too, but close your shop if you ain't wanna talk to people. The antique absinthe glasses weren't even that good a collection which is what I was curious about. Wish I was a rich person who could afford a whole home and boutique in SF that I get to sit inside all day.

what a great find! We met the shop owner who spent lots of time regaling us with wonderful stories about her searches for the various cooking accoutrement that her shop offers. She has a veritable treasure trove of cooking implements from enamelware to the bibles of gastronomy, like the Larousse gastronomic and Mrs Beetons. I love this place and I will definitely be coming back, especially as my husband and I are such keen cooks and the shop owner really knows her stuff. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

A Karen! Discriminated against African American Mothers. My infant daughter was crying in my back seat. I pulled over to a safe location at approximately 6:00pm to make her a bottle safely. The older white lady comes behind me and scares me requesting I move my vehicle that was blocking her driveway. The driveway is not a working driveway. I was in a yellow metered space NOT in the red painted area. I responded nicely and said "Okay, I'm just making my baby a bottle real fast " she responded "you should be making your baby a bottle in a more safer place instead of someone's drive-way" this made me look up and evaluate my location. I wasn't blocking her driveway, no cars were cooming into or out of her driveway yet she chose to be rude, offensive, and begin to spread negativity. She took a picture of my vehicle. So I took a picture of her and her business, her ugly dog that she lost control of, and am writing this review of a Karen who is a poor response ratio of the neighborhood

Hope you have 3 hours to spare. Only person works here takes 30 minutes per person at check out. Absolutely ridiculous and rude to everyone waiting in line. The inventory is insane and you'll likely find what you're looking for here (eventually, given it looks more like a hoarders place). Would recommend only if desperate or purely browsing.

I've purchased my copper cookware pieces and many other items from Cookin' SF, over a period of several years. So there, my bona fides, as far as customers go.Consider your visit to this store a test: if you feel compelled to leave a poor review (3 stars or less) after your first visit, then I suggest you stop cooking and stick to takeout. You all sound like spoiled children, not cooks. I was disheartened to see the petulant reviews. Hence, mine. This store is a resource for those who appreciate and value very hard to find and unique cookware pieces. I know personally that the proprietor travels to France with empty suitcases and scours the offerings to bring said suitcases back full of cookware of excellent quality. This work is heartfelt and important to her. And to those of us who treasure this store. Those who know this are those who can make a f****** amazing cassoulet. As you were.Jeffrey

Great copper kitchenware selection with several items made from France. They really don’t make quality kitchenware like they used to.
