I visited office on a Saturday & booked a mustang convertible specifically for a day on the Sunday to drive across the bridge & do some site seeing & drive the coast line while visiting the city fir 3 days only, experience in booking was good to be honest I was assisted while queuing & everything booked. On the Sunday morning at 712am I was sent an email saying the car was unavailable now & only a Toyota Corrolla was available, needless to say this is mot the experience we came for & felt seriously let down in this instance, I won't be using city rent a car ever again!!!!

Top car rental. I went spontaneously at 8:10 a.m. and they still had cars available. The employee was super nice and explained everything to me clearly. What sets the company apart from others is that you can return the car until 11 p.m. This was not possible with all other providers. The car worked perfectly. There are a few scratches and dents on the outside, but that's not a big deal.

City Rent-a-Car saved my weekend getaway from the city! I ended up at City after the car I originally booked at the name-brand location next door was not available at my allotted pickup time (Hertz and others notorious for overbooking). City had same day availability and a straight forward + seamless pickup process. I was concerned at first about being a walk-in, on the edge of the Tenderloin neighborhood, and it being a non-name brand rental company, but my worries immediately subsided once talking with Randy at the desk. The pickup/drop off was easy at a nearby SAFE and SECURE garage. Easy garage location to get in/out of town with minimal hills over to the Golden Gate Bridge. Fair pricing in line with the name brands and insurance add-ons available. Clean, quality car (Toyota Corolla for approx $250 for weekend)

I chose City Rent-A-Car for their easy drop off after hours and on weekends. Simple and convenient. Made a reservation online. Went to the office to sign and make payment. Pick up car up the street in a garage(same place for drop off).

Do not park here the attending lied about the prices and then when I got here the machine wasn't working so I asked can he send me a ticket so that I can pay and go home he told me no and that I need to find a way to pay or they're not going to let me out luckily my friends didn't leave San Francisco yet hello

Rental car companies are notoriously awful. This was not the case. Very straightforward and pleasant pick up and convenient after hours return to a neighborhood attended garage. Very satisfied.

Phuoc provides excellent service!!! The rental car is guaranteed, and he always wears a smile. If you ask 10 questions, he doesn't have any problem answering them all. I definitely recommend this place. It's a great choice compared to Dollar, Hertz, and other rental services. The overall service is perfect.

I've been renting from City Rent-A-Car for years and should have written a review ages ago. It's a great business. The owners and workers have always gone out of their way to accommodate customers, and their rates are usually well below what the larger national companies offer. A special shout out to Phuoc who is insanely competent, extremely professional and personable and has always done everything he could to make my sometimes challenging car rentals work. The owner Jenny is also incredible - she made special arrangements for me to keep one of their cars on an emergency basis for nearly a month, during a busy time, after my step-father had a stroke and I needed to stay near him in another town. I've always found the company's cars clean and in good working order. Whenever I have had an issue or question, I've always been able to reach Jenny or staff who've helped me out immediately. I love them and hope they stay in business in San Francisco forever!

March 31, 2023 rented a car for 2 days. Everything is fine. The guy at the reception was very pleasant, polite, explained everything well and clearly to me (I don’t know English, but he even warned me to be careful in Los Angeles and not go to the extreme left lane as it is paid and did not drive on toll roads Otherwise, a large bill will come to a bank card). On Sunday, I returned the car without any problems - the employee himself parked my car. Everything is fine! If you have credit cards from non-American banks, then almost all car rentals have problems, and not just in this salon. Everything's OK! I recommend. Good luck!

I can't believe I never wrote a review for this place! I used them back in Nov 2022 because we needed a rental for our wedding (we are from out of state) and they were cheap and within the city. I was able to book something last minute (about 2 months before) and they also allow you to add any rental insurance at the time of pick up. The employee recommended 2 different ones (I forgot which ones!), but everything else he said we didn't need. Returns were seamless and easy!My only complaint is that the inside of the vehicle's windshield was filled with a bunch of smudge marks to the point where we couldn't see through it while driving a night. Extremely dangerous! We had to pullover to wipe it down before continuing our drive.Overall, I would book from them again!

They provided a vehicle that was not clean. My wife and I spent 15-20 minutes just wiping everything down. I didn't care about the various scratches or dents in the car. I just wanted something clean and they couldn't provide even that. If we didn't already make plans that required a car, I would've refused the rental.
