This bank is a scam! Do not put your money here. Recently opened a checking account, deposited my money in person, and then as soon as my transfer cleared my other bank account, they claimed my account was temporarily unavailable.. then blocked me out of my account for days. I called corporate to find out why my account was blocked, and while they claimed it there is 24 hour assistance, I kept getting transferred to a department that was closed. I called back at 9am on a Monday and they said I have to wait for someone to call me backin the next 24-48 hours. Meanwhile, they have taken all the funds I used to open the account and denied me access for over a week. I tried to call the branch manager, and the phone number on her card no longer works. Worst banking experience in my life. If the sum of money was in question, they should have asked me to complete additional information while I was at the bank. Instead, they treat you like a criminal and hold all of your funds. I asked to speak with a supervisor, corporate office, and they said my call was recorded and it would be logged. I'm seriously at a loss for words with this customer service.

Update: After two weeks, still no updates! No improvement! Opened two account here, NONE IS SHOWING IN MY ACCOUNT!The mobile app is a disaster! You have to link the account you opened to your mobile account manually, one of the worst mobile app experiences. First, CITI should have more updated system. Second, your staff should have help the costumers set up! Not seeing any professionals in either the technical side or the human side. Improve!

In general Citibank is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. Make everything harder than it needs to be. Do not use!

This is the worst Citibank branch ever, do not come here! The employees here are very unprofessional especially Judy Bi, the banker. I am supposed to have my tiger pendant promotion months ago when she called me in to pick up and when I came to pick it up, she tried to give me a square pendant that is not even what was my promotion. Then she says the tiger pendant isn't here and they messed up. This has never happened to me. She said it will come the week after or the following week and she will call me. Two weeks past, she goes on vacation and never calls. I have to call the branch manager Noelle to ask about the pendant and why this branch has such unprofessional employees. Im back today to ask what happened to my promo, again, it's still not here. Do not ever come here. Super unprofessional, no follow ups and people do not know what they are doing. Go to the other branches!

At this 21st & Irving Street San Francisco Citibank, there is an employee Elaine Wu, who is very helpful, friendly, and courteous. I am very happy and satisfied with her help. Because of Elaine, I give this bank 10 stars plus one extra! Thank You Elaine!!!

Eric and Elaine are really nice tellers! Judy is an awesome banker. Because of this, I have changed my opinion of Citibank and actually prefer the exclusiveness they offer compared to Chase and BoA. Recommend this bank to anyone, with my utmost respect and regard!

So all the negative reviews are true. For starters they are not professional or educational and they give poor customer service and you can tell just by how they respond. I came here and when I walked in I saw a bunch of girls just chatting and talking and they did not help me right away either. It seems like as soon as I walked in they just walk away and said "Please give us a moment" which really took like 20 minutes. Then I asked them if I can cash a my check(Which is a Citi bank's check from their location) and they said No. My thoughts were "What bank don't allow people to cash their check with their company's name on it?" They didn't tell me anything other than just use it at "Costco" but this isn't from the Costco credit card at all then the lady who is this old Asian lady working there seem to know nothing because she didn't give me suggestions or give me a reason why they cannot cash my check. This is very very unprofessional from any Bank teller and it makes me wonder if they even train people. I also noticed there are new people working at this bank all the time. Every other bank like Chase, BoA, even Wells Fargo!!! allows me to cash my check. Citi is one of the more international banks since they have locations all around the world but fail to provide a simple customer service to their clients.

Rude manager. Employees that have no idea what they are doing. They refused to cash a check issued from one of their own Citibank accounts! They refused to even attempt to look it up. I will never do business with another Citibank again!

This branch made me understand the term incompetence. Not helpful, not informed, the reason I will leave this branch after 10 years.

Cousin gives me a check drawn on CITIBANK this one on Irving is my neighborhood .I dont have an account there.. Nice guy (non-asian) greets me , tells me no problem, they will happily cash the check, not so fast.. Questions I have never been asked when cashing a check...He checks it out, says how do you want the money? computer rejects the transaction...he calls manager over,(middle aged asian) who will not look at me, or address me, just ignores me and she says no cant cash check.. the Guy asks why and tells her everything checked out...she says no...wont look at me to say sorry and or give me a reason....ID banksed with them when they came to CA 25 yrs ago for 1 week..they were the worst bank then they are the worst bank now...

On 1/7/2020 I attempted to deposit $350 at the ATM on the left hand side. The ATM gave me a vague error message and didn't post the funds to my account. In the past month I've made a claim with customer service and have been tossed back and forth between CS and the employees of the branch itself. Neither customer service nor the tellers have ever accepted responsibility for the loss of funds, nor have they given me any options that could lead to recovery of the funds. On my most recent visit (2/7/2020), the tellers finally acknowledged the inconvenience this has caused and even apologized. Unfortunately, an apology won't bring back the funds. To be clear, I didn't feel any sort of rude attitude from the tellers or manager that other reviewers have noticed. They dont exactly dote on you, honestly closer to complete indifference, but I work a customer service job and I get it. People are kind of trash and talking to them all day is grating. However, both the tellers and folks on the customer service hotline were literally, entirely unhelpful and were very adamant about keeping me from even knowing who COULD be of help to me in this situation. My emotions are conflicted. The customer service side of me respects and understands the indifference of the staff, but on the other hand noone likes losing money. Without the ATM incident this place is a solid 3, I just wanted to post this review as a warning to potential customers and a 1-star would catch more eyes. TL;DR: If you're just looking for a place to keep your money, these guys are ok. Once it gets into the account it stays there. Just watch out for that ATM on the left side, because if it eats your money you will not get it back.

I would give them no star if I could. Completely unprofessional. Refuses to deposit a check because the person wrote the check didn't sign full name. I told them that person can draw a turtle for signature if he wish if that's how they sig . 19 years with Citibank, this is so bad that I actually think about change bank, which I won't do because of some idiot in 1 bank. I did call Citibank to file a complaint. You all need to do that if they treat you as if you owed them Otherwise, this will just continue.

This is the worst branch you can come to. Unfriendly tellers, you dont get attended quickly and keep you waiting until they feel like attending you. This was my third time coming here thinking they can cash my check, I was wrong. Everytime I come, there's always an issue with cashing my check. I am not a customer but in order to succeed somewhere, guests are always first! Am definitely not coming back here again and Do Not recommend this branch to non customers at all!
