Very large room, heating and air conditioning, great window front with a view of part of the Golden Gate, covered parking lot, small and uncomplicated reception.

Great location for all the tourist hotspots. Friday and Saturday nights were a bit noisy due to clubs nearby

We really liked it here. We were able to park our car in the small parking garage. When we checked in, the gentleman at the reception took extra time to explain to us where we shouldn't go, what we could experience and where, and examples of how we could spend our 1.5 days in San Francisco. We also received a free room upgrade so that we each had our own large bed. The room was clean and you could see the Golden Gate Bridge from the window. The hotel is on a major street, but you didn't hear much traffic. Bus stops were right next to the hotel and you could quickly get to the harbor. It's just a shame that there is no breakfast. But you have enough options in the area or you can buy something beforehand. If you have chilled food, you should have a cool box with you as there is no fridge in the room.
Rooms: View of part of the Golden Gate Bridge, TV, comfortable beds, coffee maker, bathroom with shower and bathtub, clean
Walkability: We were even able to walk to Japantown after about half an hour. Continuing straight on the road you would have come to the water. Otherwise there are bus stops directly at the hotel.

Walkability: This hotel is walkable to the marina and the Fine Arts Center. Lots of great restaurants. The marina has a beautiful view of the Golden Gate.

Nice, inexpensive hotel. Lockable underground car park. Rooms quite small and old. Unfortunately no breakfast available. Location is right on a busy street.

Only positive is the free parking.
Definitely not worthy of a 4 star rating.

Very well located. It's a shame that they still have carpet in the hallways and rooms, they generate a pretty bad smell. I think that removing the rugs would add a lot.

Been my go-to in the City for years. Great location, big rooms, great value for the money and FREE parking (which is unheard of in SF).

We love staying at Chelsea inn, it's always very clean and free underground parking is perfect!

Kind and hard working staff. They were very good about follow up on a company billing question.
Safety: The area is much safer than years past. Neighborhood on the way up
Walkability: PLenty of coffee shops, breakfast places. Upscale cocktail bars. All within a block or two

Chelsea Inn offers a comfort and an excellent location at a great value. The underground parking had about 12 or more spaces, and is secured with an electronic gate where I was safe parking for my entire stay. You will be located on Lombard Street, which is in walking distance to the historic end of Lombard street which is a MUST SEE. Also only a block from Chestnut St where the Apple Store is located amidst many restaurant and shopping options. It was also convenient to get to the wharf, golden gate, and financial district by Uber. Spacious rooms. You may need to request a fridge, as my room didn't have one. Very clean and comfortable. I would absolutely stay again!

The Chelsea has been great in putting me up while I've visited a relative. Overall, The Chelsea, along with the other Inns they own are very good values. The only slight issues I have noticed have to do with clean details. But overall, very good. You can always count on what you will get from them.

We can recommend this hotel because it is very centrally located. Bus stop to the pier in front or you can walk there in half an hour. Free parking garage. For breakfast, Mells is just around the corner. All other restaurants within walking distance.

Hotel with rooms a little dated but tidy and clean. Free private parking. Ideal location for visiting Marina District, Filmore Street, Lombard Street... the area is full of places to go for a drink and/or eat something. Reception staff not too friendly upon arrival, nothing to laugh about upon departure.
