CCSF is a depressing place if you are trying to be a stem major, the classes are way too hard for a community college, and its been suspected this was all some crap just to keep retaking the class without transferring. you will be expected to take numerous night classes if you are in any of the stem majors, especially for math, which i often only took at night because that was the only way i could get it, with my other classes. If your planning in a 4 year university or grad school, do research on how the gpa is calculated, i heard from numerous professors, and admin that there are many ways. sfsu is the exception for transfer 2.0, others might require 3.0,, and your transcript must not be have Ws, prior to getting a 3.0. english courses are not easy, especially if you are not a good writer yourself. look for other community college, and use assist.org to compare which courses you need. Also because of difficulty of the courses, it creates codependancies in students, where they form pairs("friends") and one isnt able to study without the other one, or unable to do coursework without the friend initiating, it was pretty pervasive

This was based on an experience back in 2011-2014. Great faculty, very warm people who's trying to help. The instructors here are spectacular! Especially those who are in math and English department!

Where do I even start? Let's just say this has been my WORST experience EVER trying to enroll in a higher education institution. It all boils down to two key issues, the ability to enroll is overly complicated, and the staff is extremely rude and unhelpful(preferably Admissions). I applied online, filed for financial aid, and registered for some classes that were all waitlisted on Sep.1st. when a full week went by without a peep from ccsf or the financial aid department I decided to go in person for what I thought would be quicker and faster assistance...boy oh boy was I in for a shock. The staff seemed extremely uninterested in assisting me with the admissions process; so much so that the guy I encountered didn't make eye contact with me my entire visit; instead he pointed me to the computer in their office to repeat the same process I've already done on my own. When he noticed I was acquiring about lots of science courses, he gave me this extremely passive-aggressive "Are you trying to be a nurse!? Cause you're too late for those classes!" So I left without accomplishing anything. I emailed the professors instructing the classes I was waitlisted for without a response from them either; however since the professors are usually busy teaching multiple classes at once I didn't sweat it too much, instead remaining hopeful that someone from Admissions or registration would reach out eventually.. It's now September 19th, and I still have yet to hear anything from anyone regarding my enrollment process. So what did I do? Remained hopeful and reached out once more! And man do I wish I hadn't. The guy who answered my call in Admissions was the rudest yet. He seemed to answer the call already frustrated and annoyed so much that I couldn't properly explain the issue at hand because he kept interrupting me. When I asked to explain my issue without interruptions, he got extremely upset, yelled at me, called me " unpleasant " and transferred me to a student counselor who wasn't much better. So I've officially given up on CCSF. NO institution should display this level of unprofessionalism and lack of care for their students. Completely unacceptable.

Horrific experiences in recent years, especially since pandemic. Racist af, especially towards certain students who are hated and scapegoated these days. They go under the guise of all DEI and "woke," but that only applies to a few brownie-points type of people. If you don't fall under that, AND you're in a stigmatized group, too, then good luck to you. The staff are consistently the rudest, laziest, most unhelpful jerks on the planet, but I suspect it's much worse towards certain students. They try hard to screw you over if they don't like whatever "group" they think you fall into. Most staff are low-value, poorly-educated, and rude. And the instructors aren't any better. Forget this place if you want job skill courses for a career pivot, to move forward, or for personal enrichment. If you fall into said stigmatized group, you better hide it as much as possible, be the most good boy or girl possible, never mention anything about your group (even/especially in a "social justice" class), and do the best work possible in order to even approach the same treatment that the more admired/pitied groups get. The DEI and "social justice" department is a joke, with incredibly stigmatizing professors and dean. They're incredibly lazy, low-value, and will hate you just for being you. There's no love or "umbrella" these days. You'll be given the run-around again and again. It's absolutely useless submitting a complaint, whether formal or informally through email, call, etc. If they don't like you, they'll keep blaming you, and try their hardest to keep you back. They try hard to screw students over as much as possible, especially if they see you as a stigmatized type. All staff are consistently rude through all contact methods, whether virtual help desk, phone, email (often don't respond, or stop after initial reply), etc. Third party help desk is rude and unhelpful, too, and will keep giving you the run-around, making you keep calling/emailing back, with their stupid "tickets," and try their best to make it difficult. That is, if you fall into a group they look down on. No use bringing up the rudeness and unhelpfulness to every department; they'll just ignore you and laugh at you. Since CCSF isn't a private business, and staff are paid by salary or possibly hourly for some, they have no incentive to treat certain students nicely and helpfully if they hate something about the student. Stigmas are extreme in SF, especially in places that love seeing themselves as DEI and "woke."Beware of dropping after deadlines, especially for classes that are late start or short-term, since they have different deadlines. You might be stuck with a W, NP, or failing grade, and good luck trying to change that if they don't like you!Free City is a complete joke. They reel you in for the money, and then you have to pay the entire tuition if you drop for any reason, at any time, including for extenuating circumstances. Good luck arguing that, unless maybe they favor you for some reason.

This is for all the students that reading thisI was expelled in 2019 because a professor in their media department has been cyberharrassing/sttalking me.He claims that I was cyber harrassing/stalking him. As an evidence he provides private calls and emails that went to his spam folder. We hired forensics to extract data and I paid to. CCSF disregarded this. When he provided the phone calls to my attorney i notice that his phone carrier was associate to the extraction that was provided by the forensics. So at the time professor had samsung and it matched to what forensics had extracted data from my phoneHe filed false restraining order based on this in 2019 which was approved for 3 years. 3 years later he used police report to get extension for 5 years. HE took advantage of this trying to harrass and stalk me so i wont be able to do my homework . As an example he types in killed while i am running my program and my 8 year old daughter sees all this and shes no longer intersted in school.

Is ZERO stars an option? Please do additional research and apply to a different school. There are so many better options in the city and all throughout San Francisco. I'm not even one to take my time to write a review, especially Karen style like this lol but I like feel compelled to warn others!!! Learn from my mistakes!!!! I wish I was exaggerating when I say it's the same 4 people within Admissions and Records just pawning you off to each other, because everyone staffed at CCSF is extremely incompetent and unaware of their job description. I always end up talking to the same few people, with NO proper answers, NO problem-solving skills, NO willingness to give other options or help to a student; The lack of empathy is downright frightening, I mean using the term inadequate is an extreme understatement. After being neglected and misinformed my entire transition into CCSF, I had decided to drop all my classes and take ONE class with CCSF instead. I felt giving up all together due to the incompetence of others wouldn't be right. So I continued to challenge myself, and took ONE class here at CCSF. Who would have thought just taking ONE class would still be an issue for this incompetent school. For it wasn't even properly accredited for????? Why on earth would it be the students responsibility to have to follow up with Admissions and Records to ensure my grade was properly posted...??? And now that I am trying to transfer to another college, in hopes this experience won't be so horrendous, I can't even transfer my credits from CCSF?? What do I need to do in order to be properly credited for this class? Whole school is a s*** show, with a small staff of extremely incompetent people

One of the worst schools I've attended. Typical way of doing business - while you're trying to register, everyone appears helpful and responsive but the minute you're enrolled they become ghosts. No one wants to assist you with anything and it seems to take them forever just to merely understand most general questions let alone even respond to your inquiries.

I used to go to CCSF. But once my girl went, one instructor in particular took an abusive cyberstalking interest in her. The most that get's me is how CCSF defend themselves and the instructor to avoid attention of the lawsuit and media. They were already in deep bad place with administrative fund mismanagement and almost lost accreditation. They have lied and manipulated evidence to weasel out of doing proper investigation. If you are a woman, BEWARE of male instructors, especially one in media department.

Today, I have officially graduated with honor from city college of San Francisco (ccsf). I am glad that i made such a correct choice for choosing ccsf. At ccsf, I have received so many supports, assistants, and opportunities to obtain this sucess. Ccsf have provided a short but mavolous chapter in my life. I'm so proud to be a student at ccsf because I know that the school has prepare me well for the next chapter (sfsu) of my life. Class of 2022. Cheer

This used to be a pretty good place to take some courses, either towards a degree, professional improvement, or self improvement. Not any more. It isn't worth the money to attend classes - even if tuition is waived. I can learn the subject better and faster by myself. The teachers and administration are horrible; they don't care, no matter what they say. And the website is a joke! It has been for years, and they actually managed to make it worse!!I'm appalled and sickened every time I read about the salaries of the chancellors, deans, chairs, etc. They do not do a very good job.
