I called in an order for a friend who lost a parent. The manager, Michael, not only took my call personally, but agreed to drive the food to his house himself. Total experience.

This grocery was my favorite grocery for years, it was like a mini Rainbow Market and I was willing to pay a bit extra for the quality. Since turning over to Gus's it feels more like a Safeway. Far less organic produce and the wine selection, variety and descriptions have tanked. The only thing that keeps me coming back are the kind staff and the premade food, which is amazing. Hope they can turn it around.

I like this market but was irritated by the manager, when I found cookies with todays date (so they were expired) and I asked her if I could buy them half off, she gathered all the packages up and said NO, she had to save them for the cook... that makes no sense... Upon reflection - did she want them for her self ?? By the way I did buy the shortbread cookies instead, dipped in chocolate, 4 cookies for $8.00, the price is fine but they had no flavor, and were hard! -Terrible, Please taste your product- (they were the markets own product ) and price accordingly ...make your customers happy!!

This place used to be 5 stars until Gus's Community Market ownership bought it. Now it's just a shell of it's former self. Everything has gone down hill from the bakery to the ready to eat meals and soups, and catering. Even the employees look unhappy ever since the ownership change with some even quitting.Corporate greed and gentrification of a good ole neighborhood business at it's best. R.I.P. Canyon Market.

The staff at the checkout counters need to lighten up a little. Too serious, even when saying thank you to them they don’t respond!. The pumpkin pie made me sick. Never going back again!! This place used to be good but unfortunately not anymore.

We normally love this place. The week of this past holiday, we bought a pork tenderloin. When we opened it our entire kitchen stunk from it and the meat was turning rancid. Checked the expiration and it was still within the acceptable timeframe. Someone packaged rancid meat. We tried calling and emailing to no avail. Guess we lost $10 on bad meat. Unfortunately we didn't take a picture because the smell was so bad I asked my husband to take it out immediately. Check the meat you buy thoroughly. Especially if prepackaged. So disgusted by how bad this was. I've never experienced this before.

Canyon Market is a gem of a neighborhood market. I love the prepared foods the most. The salmon, crab cakes, quinoa squash risotto, arugula salad, all veges--all my favorites plus the black diamond spread that my friends call crack cheese because it's so addictive! The bakery items are all good too--the pies, cakes, cookies, muffins. Twice I have called to send groceries and food to my friend who lives up the street and even though they do not do hand deliveries, each time, a very kind person has offered to walk up the order. This time, Michael, has gone out of his way to help me. This is what makes this market a stellar sweet spot for me and we will be going back again and again! Thank you Michael--you saved the day!

Great little gem. Quality everywhere, but high prices too. Parking tough, use the lot across the street and up the alley. Better to walk or take public transit/ride share/bike - but be careful, narrow streets and fast drivers. Staff all want to help but are unobtrusive. Its nice to help the small stores and those that stay local who help the neighborhood. They are sensitive to gluten free issues and very accommodating. They have a healthy bent but there are lots of processed foods for the carb junkies. It would be nice to see more high end products with no sugar. Quality meats. Great hot soups and a small out door eating area. Perfect spot post Glen Canyon Park hike.

Where's the egg in this breakfast sandwich? Served cold for $8.15. We used to order this all the time but forget it now.

High quality products at high prices. Let’s be honest, I’m not rich enough to do my regular-way grocery shopping here but I live in the neighborhood so I come when I need something special or if I’ve forgotten one or two ingredients for dinnerMade-to-order sandwiches are surprisingly reasonably priced and very good. I frequently pick up for lunch during the week. Budget ~10mins for them to be madeI’ve almost always been disappointed by their baked goodsLost a bit of its neighborhoody vibe after Gus’s took over, but still a solid spot if you’ve got some $$$ to spare

The changes this place has gone through are expected but the made in house food has gotten more expensive and yet are now not as good or awful. The customer service is non existent. Prices State one thing and ring up another and if one catches it upon requesting a receipt, one is told tough "do you want it or not?" The price marked/listed has been significantly different than the price wrung up 3 times for me and all three times I caught after I asked for the receipt (as I'm bagging) and has cost me 15 to 20 minutes only to be told you want it or not. Yes, the wrong priced listed but will not sell at that price. Also, was shut done due to rodents and yet chose to blame outside person, never took responsibility so is it cleaner and safe now? Honestly the convenience may draw me but the bad service, inconsistent pricing, and lack of customer service has me cautiously, possibly only showing up for the baguettes (not what they use to be and smaller but still good).
