2022-08-22: Beware. They want to see your private medical records at the door which is a privacy violation and is intrusive. It's none of their business and they wouldn't let us in without them. We had an 18 month old with us to make it more frustrating. If tax dollars go this place, at least clean the vandalized graffiti off the statues heads within the property. Was a very disappointing visit. I don't think we'll ever visit San Francisco again as it's being run to the ground..

Not impressed with Academy of Sciences. For the cost of the ticket ($49) I expect to be more. I've been to the Smithsonian. They might as well as have someone pour a bucket of water and claim it a show about liquid and gravity. Their cafe also suck. Hell, for $50 more I can go to Disneyland and I'd have more fun.
Recommendation: If you want to eat, go to the restaurant a block away from this place before entering the academy of science.
THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF
Price: : $$ - $$$
Quality: C
Service: D

The academy has a huge variety of beautiful living exhibits as well as modern interactive displays. I particularly enjoyed the reefs and penguins. The docents are also very knowledgeable and friendly. The food court is undergoing renovations currently, but there is still hot food and sandwiches available at their outdoor patio. Great for all ages.

Beautiful, an extraordinary experience especially the planetarium and the internal biosphere.
Overall very interesting, the idea of having a DJ and bar service during the visit is also nice, obviously the prices of drinks are not included in the ticket and the cost is high like everything else in the city.
Obviously all this takes place on Thursday evening and entry is only allowed to those over 21 years of age.

Had a great time at the California Academy of Sciences! The aquarium is amazing, with lots of sea life to see up close. The planetarium show was really cool and gave a nice break from walking around. Loved the Rainforest Dome too—super fun for families or anyone who enjoys learning about nature. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in San Francisco!

Visited for the first time in maybe a decade for Nightlife, and splurged on Nightlife Plus. Definitely a bit pricey, but it includes quick entry for the Rainforest, Shakehouse, and Planetarium (a huge plus for great seats), two drink tickets with a separate bar and snacks (tot bar tonight), and a group tour of the back areas. Overall a great experience, definitely a good value when any ‘excess’ is going to such an awesome nonprofit.

Great experience, spent the whole day here without being bored once! Staff very helpful to people with disabilities, and I saw many offering all types of help to ensure experience was enjoyed by all.

We came from out of town and I absolutely LOVED this place. So many things all in one building. Worth the money. Only thing I didn't like was their planetary program was kinda weak. Save the whole day to have time to get through everything. If you plan to go here and other places in San Fran, come here first before other sites because you don't want to miss all the other stuff on the Golden Gate Park. It's all very central and it's a must

We really liked a beautiful, well-kept garden and a shuttle bus. The planetarium was ok. The aquarium is mediocre, perhaps suitable for school children. The rainforest was ok. All in all we didn't need it.
The park around it is very beautiful and recommended. The shuttle bus driver gave us a nice tour. She was particularly nice. From the 8th floor of the building where art is exhibited you can look down on the surrounding area for free.

My family and I had the most wonderful time as we went from exhibit to exhibit. In the Rainforest, I felt much joy seeing the beautiful butterflies hovering over me. This made me desirous of constructing my dream butterfly garden before the year ends. At the Oceans exhibit, we were thrilled when we saw the Philippine Coral Reef section. What’s even more amazing is the Filipino translation in each exhibit. There is a wide variety of plants and animals - live and preserved. And there are penguins that are just so fun to watch. One must-experience moment is the earthquake simulation of 1906 and 1989. It was frightening to feel the intensity 9 tremor of 1906 but it is one I highly recommend, with caution though if you’re queasy. The 1989 earthquake simulation of intensity 6.9 was reminiscent of those tremors I felt in the Philippines, my home country,
Three hours we spent there were not enough. It is highly recommended you allot at least 4 hours if you’re one who loves natural science.

An interesting interactive place for family with children to visit and spend time together. They have many astonishing exhibitions and shows inside the museum that can be both enjoyable and captivated to children and adults.
Places that are worth visiting from our trip:
- Earthquake simulator
- Osher rainforest
- Reinhart aquarium
- African taux museum
- Gift shops
Place that I haven’t visited due to age restrictions:
- The planetarium (too bad because my kid isn’t 4 yet)
Overall, it was a pleasant trip. My kid smiled and laughed the whole time.
