Wow! Really amazed on how rude this business is. I just called to ask for a certain plant .. Paul answered my question then just hung up the phone. Will definitely not ever do business with this store.

Bay Natives is truly unique. An arty nursery where you can see alot of beautiful, native plants grown in a "funky as the old San Francisco" setting. There's places to sit, bring a thermos or a picnic and relax. You can bike there, take a Heron's Head hike, sit at the skate park by the creek on Illinois, visit Building Resources, hear live music at the New Farm which borders City Grazing. Goats, chickens, live music, two gorgeous nurseries, eggs for sale it's a chance to get off your screen and walk around a truly unique area of San Francisco. Worth every second and every dollar thank you!

Staff took the time to research which trees would thrive in partial shade.

Disappointed. I called in advance during their open hours to confirm their stock. No one answered. Voicemail message stating I would get call back- they never did. I decided to go anyway since it was close by. They were open on but no one was present. The place is pretty small. The website makes it look larger. Most of the plants looked sad - wilted and near death as if they haven't been watered in days. I was astonished -something definitely going wrong here. Heron's Head Nursery, which is next door, offers mostly non-native plants but has a small native section. Fortunately I found a few plants there that I was looking for.

Really need to update their hours and phone. I came all the way down here and no one was here, there was a phone number and I called it and they said they’re closed.

Drove 2 hours from Modesto, and came at 415pm only to find out the owner left and the nursery nextdoor was caretaking and they only take cash.Wasn’t impressed with what I saw anyways, nursery looks neglected. More just disappointed no one was there to help me, some plants weren’t labeled.

This is the first California native plant nursery I've ever been to. I love the selection of plants and the demonstration garden is a pleasant experience, along with getting to meet the chickens. Paul the owner keeps a great spot to browse and shop. I highly recommend coming to check this place out

Reviews for this business are all over the place! Personally I had a great time! When I asked for help Paul kindly helped me, showed me a ton of options, and answered my many questions. He showed me around the garden and the updates hes been making. He even let me pet one of his chickens and meet some baby chicks. Super chill and I left very happy. Yay Paul!

It was my 2nd time at this place last weekend, this place is 45 mins away from me but was at sfo and thought sure, I'll go an extra miles since I enjoyed the 1st visit here and bought a lot of stuff. When I came in, I asked this older gentleman probably in his 50s rugged looking guy for a flowering native plant that will survive full shade. He pointed me to this one specific plant outside the counter door. I responded, is there another option? Then his rude demeanor said, that's it. There's no other option, what's wrong w this plant? What are you expecting? In my head as a customer, nothing wrong w the plant but I do want to know if there are other plant more suited for my taste. I asked the 2nd time, so you are telling me there's no other plant in this entire store that will survive "full shade" he's even ruder this time w his no answer. This guy just has poor customer service and just plain rude. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere and will never return to this store. Such a waste of time.

Always wonderful for Native plants. Peaceful, look about or ask for what you need. Also near a fenced dog park, Heron's Head

I received a bad attitude when I asked about growing some native plants. I was told it wasn't worth trying and that I should just go enjoy the plants on a hike.

Very painful to have to write this review as I have been a Bay Natives customer for a while. But after their self described 'drunk' employee flipped me off, waved his middle finger 2 inches from my nose, and repeatedly shouted "F*CK YOU! F*CK YOU!" I'm done. My crime? He had stuffed a small tree into my car that I wanted to purchase. They way he'd done it, he had the branches filling the driver seat and passenger seat. I told him I didn't want to drive like that because it wasn't safe. So after he stuffed the tree in, stripping off foliage and spilling dirt from the container in my car, I had the audacity to take the tree out and try to load it safely. Apparently this meant I was pushing him around, because that's when he started cussing at me and saying how he was "..tired of people pushing me around!" He was so furious that I wouldn't drive with the tree the way he loaded it that he got right up in my face to tell me he wouldn't sell it to me, the way he was shaking I was afraid he was going to become violent. Again, it really hurts to write this, but that was such a horrific experience that I was anxious for my own safety, so I feel like I have to say something.

An oasis in the city. Loved the chickens and artwork, and of course the plants. Great customer service!

A great nursery with a fun atmosphere and super helpful staff. Very tight community with extensive knowledge in their craft. If you're looking for outdoor plants then this is absolutely the spot to go. Stick around for the live music every Saturday and Sunday. Love this hidden gem.
