Thank you, Thomas, Ernie & Calvin for all the years of providing the best service. I never had a bad experience and my truck always ran well after their care. Never upsold me and always made sure I knew exactly what was going on with my truck. While they were always busy, the shop interior was kept clean and tidy, and that’s an important distinction between how Automotive Specialists ran their business and how many other shops I’ve been to run theirs. We’ve lost an amazing automotive shop with them retiring, but best wishes!

Where to start with this glowing review??? My 18 year old daughter left for a road trip 2 days ago after having her car serviced at home. As she was approaching San Francisco yesterday, she discovered a massive oil leak. She called Automotive Specialists promptly at their opening this morning at 7:00am. They took her car in right away and had it fixed under 3 hours later. It was a minor problem that the other mechanic overlooked. Tom and Ernie were extremely kind and honest about the situation, charging a fair price. They could have easily taken advantage of a young woman with limited car knowledge that was in a predicament. Instead, they did their job with integrity. My daughter RAVED about how nice and helpful they were. They even offered to phone the mechanic back home to explain the issue. It was a true relief to have her assisted with such care. I can't thank this professional, upstanding business enough!

I had to get a brake and light inspection for my car and I also needed a brake light on the dashboard fixed. They were able to resolve the issue and pass my inspection in no time for a pretty fair price! Highly recommend them for this as they seem like great professionals!

I brought my car in after it was broken into and damaged to the point where it was almost totaled. I am so grateful to have come across this auto shop and very appreciative of all the support Tom and his team has given us during this difficult time. I believe the quote on the repair was very reasonable for the amount of damaged that accrued and the repair was done in a very timely manner. There was always consistent communication and timely updates on the status and price of the cost of repair.

Tom is so precise in diagnosing problems we've had with our cars. He's efficient and always does an amazing job. Ernie has helped us many times and is just as efficient. We've had our cars maintained and repaired by Tom and Ernie for the past 30 years. Calvin is great in making sure that the front is running and all the parts are ordered and arrive on time.

I just brought my car in for a vent hose replacement. After giving me an estimate at least $100 lower than every other place I called, at the end of the day, they did the job for me for free. Great service, friendly staff. Highly recommended!Service: General repairs & maintenance

I have been coming here with our families cars since Ernie and Tommy opened their shop in 1991 for minor or major auto repairs as well as receiving honest advice. I previously owned an 86 Honda Accord sedan that was in great condition thanks to AS taking care of the regular maintenance. The car had very low mileage (under 12k/yr is considered very good) but 5 yrs ago while checking the transmission they advised me that I should think about trading or selling it as their were notable traces that it would eventually go out which would cost more than what it was worth. As other Yelpsters who have brought their cars here, they often will not charge for minor issues or if there is a charge it is very reasonable. Today, I visited the shop to get an oil change and tire rotation and as you can see from the pics they keep a very clean and organized shop including the restrooms!

Best. Mechanics. Ever. :) They explain the case clearly to you, what needs to be done, and check in with you if they notice something needs to be different from the initial discussion. The final price is always within the estimate. The work is high quality and timely. When I ask a question, they take the time to answer them thoroughly. Can't ask for more!

I've been getting my 2003 Infiniti G35 serviced here for the last 5 years. I have to say this is by far the best garage I've ever experienced *ever* (and I've been driving for over 35 years). I would give them more stars if it were possible. My car has over 150,000 miles on it - and it runs like new thanks to them. I actually test drove brand new cars, and couldn't get myself to give up my older car since it sounded and ran better. Among the reasons I recommend them are: - Sheer skill and competence. They've trouble shot some tricky electrical problems in front of me in a short period. Their experience and ability clearly came across. - Highly professional. They deliver 110 percent on what they promise time after time. They are very polite and great to deal with. - Accommodating. They will squeeze you into their schedule when possible. - Quality. I've never had an issue with anything they've fixed. - Great value/price. They offer very good prices, and charge very reasonably. - Proactive. They noticed substantial wear and tear on my car at about 120,000 miles -and recommended replacing some bushings/shocks etc. Without hesitation I followed their advice, and the car ran better immediately. Highly Recommend!

I'm so glad I was referred to Automotive Specialists recently. They provide excellent service & I trust their recommendations & pricing. Thomas is just wonderful! I've had negative experiences with other shops & trusted dishonest mechanics in the past. Ladies...you can trust Thomas, Ernie & Calvin to fix your car. They've been on Bryant St in SF for over 30 years!
