The tech repairman Kwan at this location, installed/replaced new rear brake pads, rotors and a serperntine belt on my VW Golf. He did a really great job! Also, he gave me excellent customer service. My car was a mess when I brought it in, it screeched on cold starts due to the serpentine belt. It also moaned and creaked as the wheels rotated at slow sppeds, and it escalated for months! It was such a strange noise, that didn't sound like typical brake issues. After having the brakes replaced the noise did go away thankfully!

Just got my Celica back after having emergency/urgent brake work done. I didn't have an appointment but they were able to work my car in and completed the job before closing. They even picked me up since I was close by. I was delighted!Louis & Mr Kwan we're both very courteous & pleasant, very professional. (Mr Kwan had previously solved& fixed an alternator problem that 2 other shops couldn't fix.) I trust their quality work & am a customer forever! Highly recommend.

Took my car in for a smog check to this place since the place where I usually take it was closed due to the covid-19 closures. When I showed up they told me it would take 40 minutes even though they didn't have another vehicle in their two stalls, nontheless I returned 35 minutes or so later and paid the overpriced $69.75 for the inspection. After they ran my card they told me it had failed to my surprise. I asked them why, and they told me the sensors weren't ready for a diagnosis. Stunned I get in my vehicle which is on and idling and notice that my car stereo has been reset about 35 minutes previously since the time reads 12:35 (it resets to 12:00). Either they unhooked the battery to reset the sensor system or they drowned the clutch triggering a reset. Either way I'm fighting this charge with chase bank. My advice to you is that they are shady or at the very least an incompetent auto repair station that will rip you off and won't provide the service that you signed up for. DO NOT GO THERE!!!

The tire light was on in my vehicle, and when I came to your station I saw the older Chinese mechanic helping a man put air in his tires. He was just finishing, so I pulled up into the same spot, slightly left of the the mechanic shop. I told him the light was on for my tires. He had me slowly turn the tire in question to the left, then told me to go by the sign where the air was and do it myself. I said I just saw you helping a guy with the air on his tires ! He said that's because he gave me $20. I told him I don't believe you that you're charging $20 to check air in tires. He said we aren't charging $20, but he gave me $20. That's word for word what he said. I went into the young cashier and asked him for the manager. He said Dan would be in on Thursday and looked up the station phone number for me. By the way the guy that got help with his tire air was also Chinese. I saw the air line out and he was just finishing up when I pulled up. The mechanic didn't deny helping him, and claimed that he made $20 cash. I put the air quickly in the tire in question, no problem there! Stealing money from the owners and customers would be a problem though I would

Needed help this week with my standard transmission in a short length of time. I dealt with Louis (or Lewis?). He was friendly, informative, and did the job as quickly as was possible. The cost was quite reasonable. I was very pleased.

Unpleasant, incredibly rude male chauvinist mechanic; unfriendly and condescending manager; and a rather spooky cashier. Over-priced. An all-round downer. If you live in the hood and need an excellent, reliable, honest, friendly garage owner/mechanic, California Auto Repair is conveniently located right across the street from Carl & Dan's Chevron, at 6027 Geary Blvd. Reasonably-priced.

Ok I've read the negatives. My stars are for the fix I happened to need in an emergency. My car went on high temp all of a sudden. We were on our way to our hotel in San Francisco for an overnight and concert with family. I turned onto Balboa and called AAA. This station saved our butts. After being towed, our taxi driver(yep) said the owner was hard working there for 50 years. I know a thing or two about mechanics and I liked his diagnosis pretty much right away. Had a worry free evening and concert and extended next day checkout. Mechanic was done on time, the price was right and I'm happy to be back home safely. Yes this complete repair job was done on a Saturday after dumping it off Friday afternoon without appointment.
