While it is at a great location, the store is not as good as it used to be. The selection is less attractive and stylish now, and the service is not as friendly and helpful as it used to be. I wish they had better clothing and accessories as I would love to shop there again!

Do not shop here! Just had the rudest interaction I've ever had with a sales associate. Spend your money somewhere where you won't be treated horribly.

I've been shopping at Ambiance for some time now and love every piece I've bought from there. I switch between the Marina and Sunset shop and have noted the great service at both of them. Most recently, Dani (sp?) helped me with a return -- she was an absolute gem. I found her to be super patient and helpful, which led me to write this review. She didn't rush through the transaction just to get it done, but rather she talked to me throughout it making it a pretty positive experience. I also recently attended the "Queen" party here and I had a blast. My friend who had never been to Ambiance had a great time as well - I loved that they had the mini-massages, charcuterie and champagne for us! Honestly a 10/10 experience.

Sandra helped me update my wardrobe with some fantastic pieces that I will be able to use with garments I already own, as well as add to. I love the new looks and it has inspired me to make my own new looks from my closet. I love the variety and quality of the prices I bought there! Thanks Sandra!

TLDR? SCHEDULE A PERSONAL SHOPPING APPOINTMENT WITH SANDRA! I've been going to Ambiance since I moved to SF in 1999. It's always been the absolute best store for my last-minute or longer-term fashion needs. Recently, I made an actual appointment for personal shopping services with Sandra at the Irving location, something I've been meaning to do for years and I'm so glad I finally did! After this experience, I don't think I'll ever shop any other way again. Prior to my appointment, I'd worked with Sandra many times over the years at the Noe Valley store (now closed - booo!), and she always made the time for helping me on-the-fly by suggesting the best items for my body type, event, and budget. While the unplanned time I spent with Sandra was always great, having a personal shopping experience with her was a whole new world and I can't ever go back to my old ways. It was easy to schedule my appointment directly with her over text (I gave her my number when I was casually shopping for a spring dress the week prior). We met on a Wednesday when the store opened. Prior to the appointment, she asked what I was looking for. I said, "General theme upgraded basics. - shape, forgiving, soft, stretchy. Fitted pajamas that don't look like pajamas with style." Upon arrival, she had a full-blown capsule wardrobe waiting for me. Every single piece of clothing on my personal shopping rack matched what I was looking for and so much more. She picked styles, shapes, patterns, and colors I would have never chosen for myself and they all were perfect for me. All the items were mix and match and dozens of outfits were made out of the pieces. As I tried them on, she helped me style them with belts, layers, accessories, and my favorite, how to effectively half-tuck a shirt. At the end of the hour, I had dozens of pieces I wanted to buy but I had to stay within a budget which meant getting really ruthless and weeding out pieces I didn't "need" or were somewhat less than amazing than the others. It was hard because they all fit so well and looked so good . . . but it got easier because Sandra never pressured me to buy anything I was hesitant about, or simply needed to let go of because they were more expensive (1 pair of jeans vs 3 tops). She helped me to get critical about fit and make sure I wasn't buying multiple pieces for the same purpose. Her enthusiasm, fashion sense, relatability, style support, effectiveness, efficiency, and all-around great personality make her the ideal person to work with for special occasions or a wardrobe overhaul. I love the selection and quality at Ambiance and the service of the team, especially Sandra! I look forward to working with her again soon. PS. By scheduling an appointment, I got a $75 credit to use that day. Total bonus!! PPS. None of my outfits actually look like pajamas, they just feel amazing as if they were. :-)

I've been shopping at Ambiance for 14years but most recently the inner sunset location only once (i originally shopped in the now shuttered haight/ashbury location the previous 13 years). I'm a little bit older but that's why I'm giving five stars ---but now, i see now covid warrior put pressure on. you are being forced by people who dont even shop at your location--to create a woke, cold environment..... my review is about how no one's going TO WANT TO TRY CLOTHES ON IN A COLD STORE.........I went in on a day when it was around upper 40° out. The front door was SITTING WIDE OPEN (!?!?!?!) and so THE STORE TEMP WAS ALSO AROUND 50°. I said something about this to the worker--and she said that if the front door wasn't open, then people would not "know they were open"....uhhhh ok? It is also a fact that most people dont want to take off their clothes to try something ON---/---in a place that is around 55° or colder bc of common-sense and a huge huge body-shaking discomfort. So in essence, the management assumes that the patrons are so dumb that if the doors are LITERALLY, not open (bc they can't READ an open sign); then they are not open. Ha ha! So you're basically begging people to not shop there (and instead, shop online which I agree, is a wretched place). I just feel bad that this person who was a millennial, or even a little bit younger, thought it was OK to say ---that we leave the door open ---in the middle of winter time because, if we don't leave a door open, to the shop, the people that walk by don't think the place is open??????! that's pretty bad. To quote that millennial group--- that isn't even the young people anymore.... #Stupid

I wish a zero could be made since I purchased nothing. I might have had I not been told that "based on how I looked there was nothing there for me"! Wait, what? First of all Sandra (yes that's her name) I was speaking to my sister who came in for a white dress for an event. You chose to incorporate yourself into my conversation unasked. Now were you body shaming me by saying that? I do wear a 12/14? But is that your job? No it's not! Can you imagine if I told one of my clients that a menu they were looking at wasn't for them? I probably wouldn't own my very successful 12 years in business catering company if I did. Much like it wasn't your job either. So I'm back to body shaming, racism or both, which one are you? And I know you knew you were outta pocket because when I came back to ask for your name you began to explain yourself and apologize. Bitch Peas! I am so comfortable in my skin my husband lets me know daily, so you didn't hurt my feelings. What you did do though was expose your prejudice, very entitled azz to everyone. And now I will make sure that everyone else knows too. BTW I am born and raised here with a 30 year background in F&B in SF and Oakland so I'll make sure this makes the rounds. How sad for you! But all love I only came to get San Tungs anyway, my sister wanted to patronize you. Signed, The Chef that doesn't belong at Ambiance!

Wanted to like this store because I'm really into fashion and boutiques, but I bought a ring from them in January and it didn't even last 4 months! When I bought it, it was about $40 so I expected it to last awhile, like my other rings. Unfortunately, it snapped on me today. ++This leads me to believe that their jewelry/clothes are not good quality and seriously overpriced. Hopefully this is a one time thing!

Cute clothes and helpful staff! Trendy and fun items. I’ve been here several times and often have to stop myself from going in when passing by because I always find something I like. They even have smaller products available for gifts like jewelry and socks. I love that their staff is always ready to jump in and act as your personal stylist.Nathalie was a huge help to me tonight when I came in looking for a pair of nice pants that I could wear to a work event. I did end up finding something that would work along with a dress for another event next month. The only thing is that I wish they had more selection in larger sizes. It was hard to find something even in my size XL so this place is not necessarily friendly to curvy women.

This place is really cute and has a variety of options with different price ranges. My only complaint is that the sales associates hover over you which I find kind of annoying. It feels like they're either rushing you, thinking you're about to steal or want to convince you to spend more money.

I've been shopping at ambiance since it basically opened! Since the pandemic and getting older my body has changed and I wish ambiance grew and changed with it. How can a boutique store employ plus size employees but not cater to plus size customers? No jackets above a large? Not even an XL? I want to spend my money but come on.... I think the owner herself is even plus size! More inclusive sizing please!!

There aren't that many clothing stores in the neighborhood and I went to this store today to see what I can get to update my wardrobe. I'm not quite sure what to make of the customer service. Yes, I was greeted when I walked in - but then the salesperson kept returning to ask how I'm doing or if I am looking for anything in particular. Not sure if they were trying to be helpful to get a sale or if they thought I was going to steal something. As soon as it was noticed that I was holding onto a clothing item, someone comes over to offer to take the item for me and set up a room. I ended up buying this item plus some accessories, and it was only then that I get a smile from the employee. Not going to accuse anyone of anything, but also not the first time I've been to a store and it felt like I was being watched and profiled.
