A1 Transfer Moving & Storage was subcontracted by my cross country movers, Pack Rats/Zippy Movers, to unload my container and bring my furniture into my house. While unloading my furniture, THEY WENT INTO A CLOSED CLOSET AND RIFLED THROUGH DRAWERs and STOLE my jewelry! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I have filed a police report.

The two employees sent from your company from Zippy Movers/Pack Rat of Benicia did not identify themselves with your company, I assumed they were from Pack Rats. I didn’t find out the “unloading employees” were subcontractors from your business until I filed my claim with the company, Zippy Movers, and my claim. I was told the company was A1 Moving and Storage out of Benecia….there is no such company. I called several times into their claims department in NC and finally was given the South San Francisco location.
The reason I hired unloaders with my moving contract was because I am by myself and have boxes being unloaded into the kitchen, garage and bedroom. Your employees needed to be told which area to place the boxes so I had to stay at the container in my garage.
The bedroom closet door was closed and the jewelry was hidden in one of the drawers inside a dresser in the closet.
Your two employees that came out. An older guy with the paperwork and with a large “football “ build, he was loading in the garage and kitchen. The younger, less experienced, thinner guy was the one that was bringing the boxes of clothes into the bedroom and took longer to come back to the container on the driveway.
**I am willing to pay to have a lie detector test administered to your employees sent to my house to unload my boxes into my house.
I discovered my jewelry missing that same day, called Zippy Movers, their number routed to their NC headquarters, I had to leave a message because they were closed for the day 2pm pst/is 5pm est. I called my local police filed a report. The new day when ZippyMovers were in the office, I called them.

I’ve had a lot of moves done but this is the worst experience I have ever had. Now Veronica has been great to work with but all in all this is a awful move. My family and I have been without our items for over a month now. Update… When our stuff did arrive there was no one to help the driver move anything and so we had to help. Then we were missing 3 main items. Our head board to our sleigh bed, our mattress (box spring did show up) and one of our office chairs. No one has returned our calls. I would never use this company if I were you.

I've used A-1 for over 5 moves (between me and my family) over the last decade. I can't say enough great things about them. I rarely write reviews but I felt compelled to here, because it's hard to find great movers you can trust, and these guys are just fabulous. They are truly professional, careful with my items, and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend

We moved offices and reached out to A1 Transfer in a panic after our initial moving company backed out on us. Peter was awesome, he came by our office and provided us a quote in short order. Not only was he competitive in his pricing but his team was first rate. On the day of our move they showed up on time and were organized and efficient. They treated our furniture like it was there own and completed the move quickly. Nothing was damaged or needed repairs. Best move we ever did a job well done!

I had an international move from the EU to downtown SF. A1 was responsible for local delivery to my SF residence. A1 was accommodating, adaptable and responsive. The crew was professional, efficient and diligent. The entire process went smoothly beyond my expectations, along with a fair price. I am happy I went with A1.

They did our move super efficiently and professionally, meeting all our condo requirements. The quoted price seemed high at first but they finished under their forecasted time and came in lower than we expected. Would work with them again in a heart beat.

We were really excited about this company since it was recommended by a friend, but we were disappointed. We moved from a 1 bed 1 bath place. After booking with them, they didn't reach out to us until an hour before the move is supposed to happen to confirm everything. The movers were really kind and friendly, but the move was inefficient. Side note, we moved from a previous 1 bed 1 bath apartment before with a different moving company using 2 movers and they moved us in 3 hours. With A1 we had 3 movers and took 4.5 hours. Needless to say, we won't be using this company to move again.

I've got to say that out of the 4 major moves I've gone through in the past several years A1 was the best by far, and I don't think I would have found them if it were not for a friend's recommendation. I was originally getting quotes from 4 and 5 star companies with hundreds of reviews and it quickly became apparent that many of these companies likely compensate (with discounts or other) for their reviews. But A1 isn't like that - they do a great job because it is their job and they take pride in it. From first outreach for general information, to getting a quote, to confirming our move date, Peter was extremely responsive, courteous, thorough and professional. We had nuanced requests to accommodate our households needs on move day which he easily and happily set up for us. And never did he make me feel like any of my questions or requests were a bother. Everything leading up to this move made me feel confident we were working with the right company. Then came the actual move. We had been dreading this bc we were moving with a toddler and newborn. We managed to find care for the toddler but still we needed the day to go smoothly and efficiently before he returned. Walter and the team showed up a little after 8, and were determined to get the move going - they quickly surveyed the home and got to it. They were very respectful of our space as we needed to maintain a place for me to care for the baby as they moved. Given the Covid situation, all of the team members were diligent about keeping masks on and maintaining distance in the tight home we were moving from. They kept apologizing any time we did have to cross paths even though we were actually the ones in the way. All this is just to say how polite and hard working the whole team was. Unlike other moving companies we have used, they were extremely mindful not to bang up the homes on both ends and actually paid attention to how the boxes were marked and got them all into the right rooms so we could more easily unpack. They also got every piece of furniture how we wanted it before wrapping up for the day. Moving is always such a stressful event and doing so during this pandemic upped that exponentially, but we couldn't have had a better experience bc of the entire team at A1. We hope to not have to go thru another move for a long time to come but if we do, I definitely know who we are calling. Thanks guys!!!

I've used A1 for my move this month and one three years ago. These guys are amazing, work efficiently, and handle all of our items with care. This time was a last-minute move, so I wasn't able to wrap all my furniture and large fragile items. It didn't matter as A1 handled all of it. At the new house they made sure everything was exactly where we wanted it and that all our items were put back together. They even replaced missing screws on the bed frames, so they were better than before the move! The owner is also very easy to work and communicate with. Don't hesitate to hire these movers.

I was recommended to Peter and his excellent team by a friend who had them handle a couple of her moves, and storage needs. My experience has been excellent and it's a pleasure to recommend them. Peter has a very calming demeanor on the phone and in person when doing the walk through. He really went the extra mile during the first move-his team of movers were efficient, polite and careful. I'm using them for storage as well. A second move happened abruptly, and again, the movers were wonderful, careful and quick. I'm getting ready to schedule a third move and anticipate that it will go as effortlessly and pleasantly as the previous two. Glad to have had the recommendation and happy to provide one!

I've just used A1 Transfer for a second time. Daniel and Jose were on the job for my move and they had me moved today very quickly and efficiently: they were friendly, strong, hard-working and very methodical about their work. I took the time to pack my boxes and prepare my furniture well and it helped make the job quick and damage-free. I won't hesitate to recommend A1 Transfer to my friends.

Excent movers however, I Wanted to take insurance and the lead mover talked me out if it. Unfortunately there was damage and after calling and texting repeatedly, I have never received a A response or effort to pay for damages. 4 leather chairs were damaged to the point of replacement. If you use them take the insurance!!!
