My local Vons, love them! Sometimes the lines can be long, and it is very expensive, but good service and staff!

Almost always only one or two lanes open and no self checkout. End up spending 50% of my time in line.

This used to be my favorite Vons because it’s secluded and usually not too crowded inside. I have anxiety going to grocery stores if too many people are shopping and the aisles are small. However recently I had a negative experience and will never go back to this location unless they start making changes.
First of all, on a Saturday 7pm, they only had two registers open (and no self checkout!) so the line was very long, about 20+ customers per line. Ridiculous that they can’t have enough employees working during the busiest time. Most place have a rule where there has to be a register open for every 3 customers in line.
My 4 year old DARED eat an apple from the apple bag I was purchasing (not by weight by priced per bag) and I didn’t notice until we got through the whole checkout. The male employee said in a loud and condescending tone, “and what do we do about the apple?” (first of all, there is no “we”, stop using “we” when you mean “you”, or do something about it if you’re including yourself).
At that point I was very overwhelmed from shopping with two kids late in the day, I am disabled and this is one task really hard for me. I apologized saying she was very hungry and I didn’t notice the apple. Any parent would be sympathetic as it happens with most kids. We always pay for what the kids open while shopping.
He then proceeded to explain that this shouldn’t happen again because it basically was theft. Calling me a thief in front of everyone?! When he could have just come up with a solution of “grabbing an apple from my groceries and weighing it” or “realizing I had paid for a bag of apples and this was part of it”. I was too stunned to react, about to cry, and wanted to get out of there as soon as I could.
Also, I also couldn’t carry the large drink packs from my cart to the checkout belt due to recently having wrist surgery. I told him I couldn’t carry them out and instead of doing what most cashiers do (walking around with their handheld scanner), he insisted that I carry the drink packs closer to him. I was clearly struggling but he rolled his eyes.
I was so upset I rushed out after paying and cried for 10 mins. Then realized a few of my items had been priced wrong (price displayed wasn’t what I was charged, or they had been placed in the wrong spot). It was $45 worth of items so I couldn’t just ignore it. I went back for a refund but the line was all the way to the fruit section at this point. I waited patiently (it was the other line, not the same cashier), but the male cashier was frustrated with my return, despite me explaining the prices had been displayed wrong. He refused to refund my original form of payment due to the cost, even though the mistake was theirs, and gave me a gift card. I should be respected the same as the other customers, it’s not a waste of his time it was a waste of mine! Why act annoyed when I waited in line like everyone else? Maybe have a customer service counter?
This place needs to train their employees better.

While I will say this location has a large inventory of wine, I would caution anyone from buying anything of value here. We bought a bottle of J Schram sparking wine ($159) that was corked. The assistant supervisor mentioned there wasn’t anything they could do about it because it’s illegal to return alcohol in the state of CA. While I understand returning unopened bottles may be illegal, selling damaged products should qualify for an exchange. They wouldn’t entertain an exchange because I bought this bottle a few weeks ago and too much time had passed to do anything. We were saving the bottle for a special occasion so didn’t open it right away. We collect wine so it was stored properly the entire time. Very disappointing. We will not shop here again.

I stopped at the Vons just to grab something quick to eat and drink, but the experience I had at the Starbucks inside the store was honestly wild. I’m not sure if it was because I’m Black in a predominantly white area, but the vibe was off from the moment I walked up.
There were two employees behind the Starbucks counter, both talking to each other. I walked up, greeted them, and the female employee continued her conversation like I wasn’t even there — she kept her body turned slightly toward the guy and didn’t acknowledge me at all. I stood there for about two minutes, just waiting, and she still didn’t say anything. She easily could’ve paused to take my order, but apparently the convo was more important than a customer standing right in front of her.
Only when I walked away did she suddenly turn around and greet me at that point, I was already done. That kind of behavior is unacceptable and unprofessional, regardless of whether the customer is Black, Mexican, or anyone else. Respect should never be optional.
Also, Vons needs to seriously revisit their food quality why is there chicken sitting out from six hours ago? That’s not okay.

Been here 6-7 times and every time at checkout the line goes across the main aisle and into the aisles in the middle of the store. Also nobody is at customer service. Twice now I have had to buy something else because what I wanted was in a locked case and there is no one to open it.

The Deli counter will hook you up! Best sandwich deal in the food court. Carefully made, all nice and even, wrapped as two halves because it's huge. A+

Worst grocery store ever. My biggest complaint about this store is that the checkout lines are as bad as Costco.

Always fully stocked, lines are short, and the staff is friendly. They do not have self checkout but always open a new register if more than 3 people are in line. The cashiers are very quick and professional. This is one of the cleanest well organized Vons in California.

Littleneck clams made my wife an I violently ill same day we bought them. Called the store next day to let them know, the girl who answered said she was from customer service but never said her name and refused to provide it when I asked! Disgraceful staff training Vons and clearly need a health and safety review of your seafood counter. I will never buy seafood there again.

No better place to local Del Sur grocery shopping than Von's. Conveniently located just at 56 Del Sur exit, a Blessing to locals.
