This is consistently by far the worst, most degrading shopping experience I've ever had. Unfortunately, it's close to my new home, so I've gone back maybe a dozen times thinking it was just a one time experience or they were having a bad streak - and every time I have to listen to the employees cuss, complain, and generally treat the customers with utter disdain.
You risk food poisoning by buying from the deli… not one of the chickens is ever time stamped. The meat in the meat department looks like it has been back dated so many times that it’s grey with green edges.
Tonight I waited at customer service while four workers came up, ignored me even when I spoke to them and one even as I waved and made eye contact with him… walked right off.
I asked for help at the lottery machine the other day since nobody would scan my play tickets for me. One worker sort of helped... Three times he told me one new thing to try on the machine then walked off while I was talking to him, turned out the machine was broken.
Once, I asked for a 12 pack of beer to be bagged, and two baggers came up to me and insisted it wouldn't fit in a bag. I told the cashier I've been bagging it for years, and she laughed and said “I don't think so dude. We only have one size bag.” eventually I had to put it in a bag myself as its generally an unsafe neighborhood and I didn't want the homeless people in the parking lot asking me for a beer. Oddly, even though they charge you for bags, they still begrudge them to you for some reason.
Tonight after a particularly foul bout of cursing amongst themselves by the employees in the produce department, and a bagger who literally stomped over and THREW my groceries into bags when I was checking out, I decided to complain. I'm 56 years old. I've shopped at and even worked in grocery stores and have never complained.
I called and reached a nasty, condescending guy named Mark or Matt who was supposed to be the manager, and when I said I've been consistently having the worst customer experience I've ever had, he laughed and said “In my ten years with Vons I've never heard anyone say that.” he didn't ask me what was wrong or anything at all. After a silence and a few more complaints from me with no reply, I asked for a way to contact a district manager but he refused to connect me or give me contact info, directing me instead to their call center overseas… which of course would not have achieved anything whatsoever - and I said as much to him. Then he mocked me and said “well you could always go online to the Vons website… that's the way they do it now with a thing called computers” apparently an insult in reference to my age. I was a computer programmer for 15 years, was a teacher, and am now a nurse… I deal with people all the time who are not having their best day. I know at least as much as Mark or Matt about computers and my demeanor is fine. But this is a terrible place to go for any reason. The employees are just generally unfriendly and obviously don't want to be there.
I really, truly want everyone to know what its like to shop in this store, with its surly, foul, rude, and unhappy employees. Unfortunately it's impossible to get help with my issues at the place so, as inconvenient as it will be, I guess I've no choice but to shop elsewhere.
Thanks Vons.

I’ve been a midway Vons customer over 20 yrs . Employees are always friendly, however, the manager Michael is rude and unprofessional. Not sure why he’s even a manager I thought Vons corporate had higher standards .

Ordered a cake online for a special occasion. Ordered it 2 days prior to pick up day. Upon pick up day, no cake. I was truly excited I had actually planned ahead of time and their location was close to where we were staying from out of town. So, if you order, give yourself time to call the store the next day to make sure they actually got your order. Being in the same exact industry, I understand things happen, cake decorators can overlook an order, managers fail to print out orders, and upper management has to scramble to make things right but in the end....disappointment.

Overall I like the store. What I can no longer stand is the service at the deli counter. They have taken to preslicing the deli meat, and you get to purchase it by roughly the 1/2 lb, we have nicknamed these as "mystery" meat. You can pick up pre packaged ham that is labeled Black Forrest, yoou get home it's actually hiney ham. The worst is the "imported" ham that I just bout at $13.99 per pound - it was actually deluxe branded ham which is one of the lowest grades. If you want more than 1/2lb, you stand at the deli counter for 10 minutes while they pretend that you are not there as they don't want to help you. Getting deli meat from Stumps from now on

Wow! They close at midnight. But they close the restrooms at 10pm. So I had about $200+ worth of groceries and when they told me the restroom closed at 10 I straight walked out and left that $200+. That makes no sense. I can understand locking the restrooms to keep the homeless out but a paying customer?!?! Who makes these rules?!? Is this why this store has a 2 star rating?!? Luckily I've grown up. In my younger days I would have reminded them why you need to keep the restroom open for paying customers. I have no doubt that May would have left poo somewhere to be noticed with a sign stating why. Sometimes I miss the younger me.

Rude, I asked for bag after I paid and she started to argue that she asked this and that, not commercial awareness! Ignorant!

They're getting "1" star because EVERYTIME I go there, rarely, even though it's only 2 blocks from my home, because the checker's, one in particular could care less about being on "any'" level of "welcoming," "pleasant and smiling," or even "approachable!" One would honestly ask, "DO YOU LIKE YOURJOB?" Because his/their attitude "sucks" BIG TIME!!!!! Maybe because of the "color" of my skin??? Just know l'm "sick and tired" of the "piss-poor" attitude at this particular VONS!! This is why I do MOST, if not 99.9% of my nousehold shopping at Costco and my FAVORITE Grocery store, "FOOD 4 LESS," in Hazard Center...miles from my home, but always pleasant and helpful employees and checkers.

The lady that works the Starbucks name tamika should get a raise along with the young lady name Connie they really go out their way to help people people that are hard workers like tamika and Connie deserve some recognition for all they do so I will talk to corporate about the job they are doing if they are not rewarded. It's only fair don't you think
