This gym is a great option if you’re choosing between the other 3 gyms in the area. It has offers the best price, clean, good operational hours, conveniently located, solid route setting, and has auto belays (great for solo climbers). Would recommend to all levels!

Our family is new to the rock climbing gym scene (this was the first gym we are members of). We have been very pleased thus far.The staff have been amazing, especially with my kids, which created a sense of belonging and confidence.We usually go 2-3 times a week for around 2 hours, and there is a plenty to do. They change out the climbs frequent enough to not be bored, but keep them long enough to allow you to work on and complete.It can be busy at times but does fluctuate. We tend to go before the after work groups comes/the climbing teams for kids start, however have gone during the rush, and don’t feel overwhelmed. We don’t go often on the weekends, but when we do, it can be hit or miss for how busy it gets. Never enough that we don’t enjoy some climbs though.Overall this place is great. I would 100% recommend!

Great gym. A lot of kids, though constantly running around and a lot of events so if you’re looking for more chill Gym, I’d skip this one

Not supportive staff, they give a bad treatment to clients. The place is dirty, and the employees also doesn’t let clients use the necessary materials. I wouldn’t give any stars to them. They gave a bad treatment to my daughters.

bad treatment, not supportive staff. I wouldn’t give any stars to this place. When taking a lesson the employees are talking to each other and wouldn’t pay attention to the person who’s taking the lesson. Totally unprofessional. The place is really neglected, and it’s not clean either. I don’t recommend it.

My son had his 10th birthday party here and the staff were fantastic! They took care of everything and were super accommodating to everyone’s skill and age. 10/10 recommend. Shout out to Tess and Kelton for being super great with all the kids!

I had been a member since April 2021 but had to temporarily suspend my membership due to upcoming unavailability for the next couple of months. Unfortunately, I missed the deadline for canceling my membership for January, by coming in on the second and was charged $81. Despite being a loyal customer for nearly three years, the staff refused to reverse the charge. I recommend investing a little more for better facilities and an overall improved experience at Mesa Rim. Fortunately, there are nearby Mesa Rim locations near Vertical Hold San Marcos and OldTown, where I plan to take my business once I can resume climbing. It's unfortunate that it had to end this way, but on the positive side, it motivated me to seek a better overall experience. Save yourself the headache and pass on vertical hold.

Great bouldering and plenty of it! Cool lead cave, but the top ropes are a little short for my liking. Can get quite crowded at peak hours but not that bad. Cool staff and good vibes. Odd music at times.

We brought our friends- a pregnant mom and 1.5yr old daughter to the gym. When we first walked in the staff was very friendly. They offered our 1.5 year old a harness and let us use it for free. We had such a fun time and couldn't be more excited to have a new home gym that is so friendly and fun!

Really fun gym! Was in the area visiting and wanted to try a local gym. Parking was confusing but not impossible to figure out. Ratings are ranged instead of numbered which is fine. Employees are cool, maybe too cool. Ratings were pretty accurate though for ranges. Routes were fun and interesting. Lots of snack and drink options! Big plus.

First time checking this place out and left very pleased. This was my second time going indoor rock climbing. I was able to sign the waiver online which made checking in fairly easy. The gear package came with the harness, chalk bag, and climbing shoes. The top rope lesson was given to me by an employee and was given reminders on how it is properly done when I got stuck. It was overall a great experience. I had so much fun climbing although I wasn't able to make it up all the way on them. I still had a great time doing it.

Absolutely love this gym! Even compared to the other Vertical Hold's around San Diego county this one's vibe is the best! I've made more friends climbing here in the past six months than I have in the seven years of living in California!
