I am with UCSD healthcare. And after spending 30 years as a physicians consultant, I know my way around the medical world. I have never been witness to a finer healthcare system. Each patient is treated with respect, kindness, caring, and when necessary empathy.

Wish I'd read the reviews before utilizing this Emergency Room. Unprofessional doctors on staff. One doctor was training a medical student. Said doctor repeatedly used profanity while in my room when speaking to the med student. I asked them to please go over my test results and this doctor acted as if it was a major inconvenience to do his job. I could see the tests on the app, but needed to understand what the treatment plan was, if any. Spoiler alert: there was no plan. Two residents were treating a patient across the hall. They would walk in, talk to the patient, slide her door shut and then proceed to loudly talk about her case -- very personal details about her case -- as well as their opinions about her family sitting in her room. I made eye contact with them thinking they might catch the hint that not only could I (and probably everyone else on the floor) hear them but this wasn't the most professional thing to be doing. They just carried on talking. I ended up requesting to be discharged because enough time had passed that my fever and BP were back to normal and it was abundantly clear they were not willing or able to work with me. Checked the post visit notes and these doctors really paint themselves as the picture of professionalism on paper. They listed tests they didn't do and even added a bit of narrative details I didn't provide. Some of which are damaging to my character. Thanks UCSD. Never again.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hospital because of the excellent people who work here like Agent Corina. She was so nice and I felt a sense of security when she was guiding us where we needed to go. Overall she made my experience of having to go to the hospital a complete breeze. Thank you so very much to this beautiful agent.

Received great treatment and great care with my 20mins old baby who had high fever at 2am. Thanks for all the medical team who had kindly helped us The ER was not too many patients so that wait time was fast for babies.

If i could give zero stars i would. This hospital is awful and the workers are insanely insensitive and rude. the amount of disrespect i felt while waiting for a loved one was over the top not okay. shoutout to the lady at the front desk of the emergency room who kicked us out of the waiting room saying "patients only" yet so many seats were open and half were not even patients. shoutout to the security guard though, he gave us chairs and made sure we had a place to sit. still 0 stars, get this guy a promotion.

The Mission Statement of UCSD says it aims "to deliver outstanding patient care." After several days in the hospital, it is obvious to me that message is not followed or monitored. The night shift nursing staff included one of the most cruel individuals I have ever met. She must like the night shift so she can get away with her behavior. I hope to God I (or anyone I love) never have to be in her "outstanding patient care" again.

One of the best hospitals I've been to. Great doctors nurses and surgical staff. The food was also surprisingly good

I had a decent experience in the hospital and needed the help, however the security department went through my stuff and damaged my phone that I spent a lot of money on. Merry Christmas to you too.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Their billing system and administrative stupidity has cost me thousands of dollars, and the incompetence of the folks working in their billing department and the people working the desk at physical therapy are incredibly unprofessional and rude. They insisted that my copay was $20 more than it is for over a year, and every time I paid my copay, their billing department would put that money toward anything they wanted on my account. After a car accident involving an emergency room visit, specialist visit and tens of physical therapy visits, you can imagine the volume of bills we're talking about. It's nearly impossible to keep track of, and every time I call to ask questions and get clarifications I have to spend hours on the phone to eventually not reach a conclusion. I've never been more angry at anything in my entire life, and I will never give a single penny to this institution again. I tell everyone I know in SD to AVOID. I've left messages with many supervisors, complained to their hotline, etc. and nothing has changed over the two years I've been dealing with this. Do not ever pay your copays in person--wait for the bill or else you'll get screwed. Respectfully, f*ck UCSD Health Hillcrest.

So I had the bright idea to switch from Sharp to UCSD thinking I would get better care and boy I could not have been more wrong in my life. First I waited in their urgent care office not too far from the hospital for over 3 hours before being called back only for the doctor to pop into the room and say you need to be at the emergency room for your lower back pain, mind you I can hardly walk at this time due to my severe pain. My son drives me over to the emergency room where I spend more hours waiting in pain. I get called for their intake information and checking vitals and then put back in the waiting room area to wait some more. To make a long story short when I was finally taken back I thought I would see the doctor right away well hours later I was still waiting before he came over and asked if I had been given anything and I said "no I think they forgot about me". I do not know if the lack of care I received was due to pure negligence, discrimination, training or policy but I will tell everyone I know and who will listen to never and I mean never go to this hospital. Almost 20 thousand dollars for a total of about 5-6 hours laying there in pain, having a MRI that did not benefit me because I was discharged without any pain medication. I was only handed a prescription for some anti-nausea medication because I refused to sign my discharge documents without it. I was sent home nauseous, vomiting and in the same level of pain and same condition as when I arrived. My mind could hardly comprehend what I was feeling and going through, I was in shock and a state of disbelief on the drive home with my son. PLEASE do not waste your time filing a complaint with their patient advocate because that is just a joke. Months later they will tell you they followed protocol and found nothing wrong. They even had the gall to claim they sent me home with pain patches which I can prove 100% they did not. I am not stopping here as I am following up with my complaint to CDPH. I will send letters to our local news station and the better business bureau and any other governing body I can find because what they did to me is so very wrong and should not happen to anyone else.

It's me again now UCSD emergency claims to be interested in your experience. I called them the night. I checked myself out of the hospital because of the treatment I was enduring now I've tried three times to call them. They won't answer the phone or your message. Don't deal with UCSD emergency.

I'm from San Diego but I live in Spokane full-time. Medical care in Spokane right now is pretty bad with a 10 month wait just to make an appointment with an endocrinologist. Because of my symptoms, I started in rheumatology with Dr. Lee who identified an endocrine problem. She referred me to an endocrinologist who referred me to a surgeon. I had a parathyroidectomy last Friday all within just a few months and most of that time was spent diagnosing the problem. I have to say I have been super impressed with UCSD. I've been able to make my appointments quickly. My care has been outstanding. Lab work and test results are done quickly and efficiently. I also love My Chart and Epic. I'm super impressed with everything! I really appreciated everything that has been done to provide me with the best medical care.

This review is for the Women's Health Services provided by UC San Diego. The office and check in were fine but I recommend that if you have " ELIANA DEUTSCH" as one of your nurses, request someone else. She was the most unprofessional, uncaring, and insensitive health care worker I have ever experienced. I left this appointment in TEARS from how awful my experience was. She didn't listen to me, she didn't tell me anything new about my baby, and made it known that she did not want to show me my baby on an ultrasound, but eventually did once I told her that the front office said it shouldn't be an issue! What was worse was when one of the staff members told me that ELIANA DEUTSCH has had multiple complaints about her from other patients. I was sure this place was great because of the reviews but was mislead. I can't believe this place has her representing them, she had no compassion at all. I will never forget the way she made me feel about my pregnancy.
