Anyone other resident living in this area would not get a pass for the constant noise they make nor for the mess they make by throwing food on the sidewalks for pigeons but this place does. The banging and clanging is heard for blocks and they definitely practice more than once a week. It's hours daily.

The temple is well maintained and cleaned. Thiên Hậu temple is a very place among our Asian families to visit during the Lunar New Year. The place gets extremely packed and you will need to find parking outside the temple near midnight. There will be lion dance, firecrackers and donation boxes for flowers. The incense pack is free near the front door, make sure you walk the whole place so you place an incense at the right location. It's a huge tradition to be here during Lunar New Year for my family, and I hope you enjoy this place as much as I do.

In 2023 Chinese New Year, I drew the lucky tag at the Los Angeles Tin Hau Temple. On the first day of the Lunar New Year, which is also the day when Chinese people flock to incense to pray for lucky tags, we went to the incense-rich Tin Hau Temple to offer the first high incense for the 2023 Chinese New Year! I prayed for my family to be safe and healthy, and for everything to go smoothly and for my heart to be fulfilled I drew an auspicious top sign which reads: Big field, many marriages, everything will be salty and prosperous, which will seem to mean that my land and property will increase again this year !

Always come here to pay respect to buddhas. There is ample parking space by the temple during non-busy occasions.

This Vietnamese Temple is so beautiful, peaceful, and well cared for. I've been wanting to visit this temple and having finally gone, I was not disappointed. Incense was burning throughout-and if you'd like to burn some yourself, there is some readily available. Not that it's mandatory, but donations are welcomed. There's a place for people to say prayers and leave offerings. I'll try to go back again-for Lunar New Year. :)

Though not always popular with friends and family, it's important that we remember to take the time to keep our hearts and minds open to new and exciting things. Especially those that ground us, and remind us of who we are.

It's closed today. Not sure if it's due to covid 19. Phone doesn't work. No updates on website either.

It's not a matter of rating this place; it's more of a religious and cultural center. It is what it is. They put on lion dances with drumming and fireworks for Asian New Year, and the teens who attend the temple are all very nice and not in gangs or on drugs. A little old man keeps the grounds clean, and keeps pigeons off the roof by scattering crumbs on Chamoune Avenue. Every Sunday they practice drumming. Some neighbors complain. I have made a point to tell them I love it. It is part of what makes City Heights be the best neighborhood in San Diego. It's rough and a little dirty, but because of places like this, it's also beautiful.

Hi everyone!!! If you have the time please come visit Chua Ba Thien Hau Temple. For those who are struggle in family, love, business come visit Chua Ba and ask for her blessing. Ba is one of the goddess very powerful and Ba will listen to your prayer and grant you your wish. I wanted to share with you not only 100% but 1000% truth in my case. It's happened to me. I went back and knees down in-front of Ba and my tears begin to pour down my face. People saw I was crying but I wasn't care or feeling embarrassed. I felt the present of Ba while I was there to pay my respect to Ba. I highly deep respect and honor Ba.

My family loves to go to this beautiful temple as we hang out in Chinatown. However, my son, who is special needs and has limb differences, was treated VERY POORLY by a lady who works there. She has a problem with him coming in and worshipping and getting his own water. She threatened to call the cops on him, his brother and their caregiver when they were just there to worship and got some water. I was shocked so I came by with my kids, and sure enough she started yelling at us saying no, no, no. I asked what her problem was and she said that my "special son" isn't allowed to get water, his "hands are no good" and when I heard that, I told her his hands are perfectly good, he is a gift of God and we have every right to worship there. I am going to find out who is in charge and report this discriminatory behavior which is illegal according to the ADA.

This Taoist temple located in Chinatown is very interesting to visit. We felt like we had left the US and been transported to China upon entering. Apparently it is possible to have a tour if you make arrangements in advance, but we just wandered through. I would like to go back so that I better understand what I saw. Without a tour and with little understanding of Taoism it is a sea of elaborate red and gold decor, statues, offerings of fruits and other foods, and burning incense. Nevertheless, it was still very interesting and very sensory to spend time there.
