Rooms: Small but updated. The hotel is old and has charm.
Walkability: Very easy to walk to the gas lamp district. Felt very safe.
Food and drinks: There’s a Starbucks right next to the hotel.

I absolutely can't stand hidden fees. Nothing disclosed when booking then a BS fee for WiFi and the gym regardless if you use them. This isn't a cheap hotel, it's distasteful to charge for these things as a surprise when you check out for a hotel in this price range.

First was a receptionist who really didn't want to be at work. Her hospitality skills were non-existent
Then the WiFi is the worst. I cannot believe anyone can have bad WiFi in this century much less a hotel.
I asked them to boost. They said they can't.
Just a room. Everything else isn't worthwhile.

Nice rooms and staff in a highly convenient location for seeing downtown San Diego and located right by the train station for travel ease. Comfy and homely.

Recently booked a room at this hotel. Unfortunately my husband became ill and had to be hospitalized the day after booking. I immediately canceled my trip to San Diego. I called the hotel and the booking service who tried their best to get me a refund, but the managers refused. Well to top of this wonderful $400-$500 experience my husband passed away Monday evening. So $500 down the drain because these ppl don’t care about anything but money and my husband is now gone. Thanks.

Small, dark rooms with smelly carpets and worn furniture. There is hardly any light in the hallway where the sink is. The water didn't drain well in the shower. All rooms are also very noisy. You couldn't open a window. It was very stuffy.
Very friendly staff at reception. Unfortunately, there is no indication in advance how expensive parking will be. There was coffee in the morning.
Location is great. Many bars within walking distance. It's not far to the water either. You have to walk a long way to the next supermarket. Unfortunately, as in all cities, there are a lot of homeless people around and the smell of urine everywhere, but the hotel can't do anything about that.

No tooth brushes, no razors, no store, no pool, small rooms, no phone in the room. Just an expensive hostel fronting like a hotel.

Smallest rooms ever. Wrong information provided. It clearly says everywhere that parking is free, however it is NOT. Upon arrival we found out is $40 and despite showing guest services, they just waive you off, claiming they don’t know why. Ask to speak to a manager and they said, managers don’t work weekends. The list goes on.
Rooms: So tiny, terrible value.

The spacious room offers a vibrant urban atmosphere, reminiscent of a bustling city, although it is not without its challenges, such as the presence of homelessness. Despite this, the location provides easy access to the Gaslamp District, renowned for its diverse culinary scene, featuring an array of excellent restaurants.

The hotel room was extremely small, the towels stunk. The shower water sprayed all over the floor when the shower door was closed. No maid service 2 Days before we left. There air conditioning turned off during the night, and we would have to get up to turn it back on. To top it off we were charged $50/day for valet which we were never told about at check in, and on top of everything a $16.95/day Guest Services Fee when I asked about that it was WiFi charge and whatever charge for them to straighten the room etc. The entire building was musty, smelled like cigarettes, and urine. If we had not already prepaid for the trip including air fare, car, and hotel we would have went somewhere else. There was no cancellation policy and I can see why. Worst hotel I’ve ever encountered in my life.
Safety: They allow homeless to sleep right outside the hotel making it very uncomfortable. The outside smelled of urine and feces.

The thermostat was set to 64 soon as we walked in But it was uncomfortably hot and did not feel like 64 at all, it felt like the AC was pushing air just not cold air. Great location but bring ice and a fan
