We booked on Expedia and they showed Cottages on the beach but we were sent over to a motel across the street which was actually in a back alley with trash, stink, and homeless people living. Make sure you are booking in the main lodge or an actual cottage. Between the yelling homeless people, early morning construction and garbage trucks at 6am our experience was pretty much a nightmare. We were ready to leave after our 2 nights were over.

We were on the 3rd floor facing the beach. The view is spectacular! I highly recommend the sunsets. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They communicated with us frequently and made us feel comfortable. The location is perfect. Plenty of places to eat. All sorts of quaint little shops. There is a supermarket across the street. Plenty of entertainment. If you enjoy a visit to a bar there are places from small and cozy to larger venues. There is also plenty of interesting and entertaining places within a short drive from the motel. We will definitely be there next year for our vacation.

I think I forgot to photograph this place. It was way nicer than I expected. Cozy. 1 bedroom really is for a couple. Not 3 people. And best to try to get a rate for more than one day. Honestly if it were cheaper I'd have made it a longer visit. Great location. Amenities were great. It was perfectly located. No complaints.

I thought our family vacation here was amazing! Our room had a partial view of the ocean and had a balcony. You literally have the beach/ocean/beach adventures at the palm of your hands. This place also has a courtyard where you can play outside games, BBQ, and chill.There's a grocery store within walking distance and tons of other food options and entertainment options as well. If you don't feel like driving, there is public transportation well in walking distance from this place. The Beach Cottages also has there own parking lot as well that is secure and you can park there at an affordable rate.I thought our room was nice and cozy and appreciated the utensils and dishes they provided guest as well. I thought the customer service and hospitality was excellent and I appreciate the kindness shown towards myself and my son.We definitely will be returning here the next time we visit San Diego.

This place was awesome! So close to the beach, and almost everything you need in a close area! Baja beach cafe right next door is great, also close to grocery stores. Loved my stay here. Only thing I’d complain about is the noisy upstairs guests, but it was a great stay overall

One of the services I particularly appreciated was the laundry service, adding a layer of convenience to my stay, especially for longer vacations or those in need of a quick refresh of their wardrobe.A notable perk of staying at The Beach Cottages was the proximity to a variety of dining options. With numerous eateries within walking distance, I was never short of choices for meals, ranging from casual to fine dining. This diversity in dining options added an extra layer of enjoyment to my stay, allowing me to explore different cuisines without the need for transportation.Another aspect that stood out was their communication. The hotel uses text messages not only for reminders but also to check in on guests periodically throughout their stay. Right on the beach! Front desk workers are the best!! Clean. Excellent customer service. Large rooms. I will definitely stay there any time I visit San Diego.Safety: Safe, secure parking and hotel.Walkability: Walking distance to any kind of food and entertainment.

Hotel is a little older but the rooms were very clean. Housekeeping was attentive. The best thing ever was the location and view from the west side-2nd floor (I'm sure 3rd floor is great also). I look forward to staying here again because of the location to the beach!Walkability: Just steps from my room to the beach!
