I had the best experience ever here! My girls and I took a trip to SD, the hotel and staff made it so wonderful for us they were all so kind and welcoming. We had the best experience with Skip he was able to accommodate to our schedule very last minute! The rooms are big and so neat definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back!

My husband and I just recently went here...DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL RIGHT NOW.it is under MAJOR construction. When we got there, there was a fire alarm going off and people sitting outside on the curbThere was no front lobby. It was all taped up and signs pointing to go to the makeshift lobbyWe walked around the building two times before we found where to goThere was TONS of construction workers taking all the furniture out of the hotel .It is being gutted. The only floor that is able to be used by guests is on the fourth floor. We hoped that since everything was brand new, we could ignore the rest. We had recently gone to another hotel also under renovations, and we were barely disturbed at all. We thought it might be the same.IT WAS NOT.When we got there, the room looked new and the hallways smelled like new carpets, so we thought ok! this might be nice to have a brand new room. The renovations inside were not top of the line. A lot of half-hearted work. The hotel room door has a space of about 1.5 Inches from the floor. We had to keep the air (or heat at night) on constantly as the draft kept the room temperature unstable. There was sticky stuff (like syrup?) on the kitchen table and kitchen counter upon arrival. The bed and furniture was nice enough. The bathroom was whee you could really see a lot of the shoddy workmanship. The fan was connected to the light (in the bathroom) and SO loud. Some of the outlets didn't work. We were on the side of the hotel right next to the automated car wash next door...and it was so loud. I realize you can't do much about a business next door, but you can soundproof the rooms a bit betterThere were tiny bugs crawling in the kitchen and bathroom. I have no idea what they were...I've never seen them before. They were about half the size of tiny ants. Not sure? but all over. There were construction workers everywhere and the doors were always openOne morning we were woken up (at 8am ) with banging and hammering. The breakfast was in the makeshift lobby and my husband went down there once and said let's go out for breakfast.I normally use the laundry and the workout rooms...I didn't even bother walking the halls trying to look through the debris. They also called to let us know the water and electricity would be shut off for an hour.A minor inconvenience but so unprofessional.I reached out to the customer service with Sonesta. I received an email back thanking me for my email, and was told it would be shared with corporate. They told me that they take these things very seriously and want to be sure that their guests are accommodated.I emailed back and said the state of the hotel seems to prove otherwise.I received another email and a phone call stating that they didn't know the hotel was in that state .I'm not exactly sure how one rogue hotel could have major renovations without anyone else in the company knowing, but that's the email and phone call I gotNothing else was offered to us to rectify the situation. We booked through Priceline so we were told they can't do refunds through there, but I'm sure they could have offered something to compensate for the money we paid for that hotelI book hotels based on ratings and feedback, and the hotel was NOT as offered. It was rated an 8.4 on Priceline. It might have been before the restoration started but it definitely is in no shape to be booking anything out right now.I hope this review helps someone know to STAY FAR AWAY from this hotel. Life is too hard right now with finances! I can't believe that we lost $500 to that terrible experience! I hope this review spares someone else from doing the same!!!

We had a very, very horrible experience this week in this hotel. The hotel is one big building pit. They didn’t warn us, although we booked months ago for a room of three. We didn’t accept our first room because all the chairs and the couch were too dirty to sit on and there were little flees crawling in the bathroom. Couch cushings we teared up. This will be my last Sonesta experience ever in my life.

This place needs to be clear on the fact that it is a disaster. There is garbage all over from being under construction. The couch in our room was ripped, the room smelled, and carpet was dirty. We ended up sleeping in our clothes and wore our socks at all times. I wish I could say something good about this place but I can’t. They should close down if they are unable to keep at least sections of the establishment clean enough to charge people to stay.

Rooms are ok. But construction is on going so everything is a mess. The fruits in breakfast looked like 1wk old. Its 20min away from city and still 10$ for parking. Ok place to stay if you’re just going to sleep and freshup.

This probably was a nice hotel before, and maybe it will be again after renovations are completed. But right now, I wouldn't recommend staying here if you can avoid it.The check in process itself is a little messy. The front door and the common area is closed for renovations so you have to go in through a side entrance. We lugged all of our luggage to the check in desk to find out that our room is on the other side of the building and because of construction it's not accessible from where the temporary check in desk is. We had to lug everything back while carrying out baby, to drive and park at the other side of the building. No apologies, no sympathy, nothing from the person checking us in.Also no mention of what time the breakfast is. I found out in the morning that breakfast closes at 9:30 after I walked over to the check-in area at 9:45 ?.The room we are is is large and has a separate living room and a pretty decent sized kitchen. But everything is super dated and not particularly clean in general.Overall not a good experience so far. Maybe things will be good once renovations are completed.Rooms: Very dated room. Carpets smell a little funky.

The location was in close proximity of everything I did while in San Diego, CA. The young lady who was working for my check-in needs people skills! Nasty attitude! The place is under construction. Initially there was no signage until we had to complain. Point of entry was the side door.Overall the hotel was great! The other employees were friendly and professional.

As I write this review the room I am staying is in vibrating from the construction in the hotel. There has been pounding and work noises going on since 8 am. We asked for a room away from the construction (Room 320) but apparently there aren’t any.The room itself is nice but the hotel is shabby, the elevator is dirty and old, and the front desk people(tucked away in a makeshift office) don’t seem to care. When we were charged $10 a day for parking and I told the front desk employee I was thinking of cancelling my reservation he seemed more than happy to oblige instead of offering any kind of help or perk to assuage my second thoughts. If I could have cancelled without losing my money I would have, We will not return here to this Sonesta.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! At least until they remodel the place, which not a single notification was provided! Major construction, doors are open all night providing no sense of security, the room does not smell the best, and there's construction dust everywhere. Have allergies?? Beware!

First off the rooms were very spacious and clean. The staff responsiveness was okay, could be better. Parking is super easy to find. The location is terrific. There were so many brilliant food options within a 500 feet distance from the hotel. There is a carwash and gas station right next to the hotel. They serve a good breakfast with plenty of options available on site everyday.

The positives are a well done breakfast and dog friendly. The hotel is located 2 minutes walking from a shopping center filled with pretty good restaurants. The negatives are: 1. Furniture in room is old and dinged.2. Bedding is scratchy and uninviting.3. Couch looks like something from a fraternity and is hard and uncomfortable.4. Bed was hard and uncomfortable.5. Hallways need new carpet and paint.6. only one elevator worked and you will need to use the stairs.7. The hotel is starting on a renovation and you hear banging intermittently.

Do not stay here, I'm not sure why this place has gotten the reviews it has as the rooms/appliances are all old. They have a terrible ant problem, this was during my stay between 10/04/23 - 10/06/23. The first room I was in had ants all throughout the kitchen, including the bathroom and nightstands. Requested a new room and it too had its fair share of ants crawling on the kitchen countertops, bathroom countertop and little armies running along the base boards. Not sure if their renovations have anything to do with it, but for someone who travels 90% for work and sees many hotels this is truly a gnarly one to stay at.

Nice man at front desk non-withstanding, rooms are daggy and have seen A LOT of use. First room we were put in smelled like dirty feet. Second room just passable. Had I known that the place was under renovation, I would not have stayed here. Maybe it'll be nicer in the future but in the meantime caveat emptor.
