I recently purchased an entire new Raymarine electronics package from Shelter Island Marine Electronics, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Ed and his team are fantastic to work with—trustworthy, honest, and incredibly knowledgeable. Ed himself is a great all-around guy and a wealth of information, always ready to help, answer questions and provide expert advice. For a small shop I thought the customer service is top-notch. Highly recommend Shelter Island Marine Electronics for anyone in need of marine electronics!

Owner is very knowledgeable and I'm sure competent. Issue is as pointed out in other SIME online reviews they don't show up and complete the work as agreed to.

We are traveling home to Canada as our sailing plans were changed completely due to Covid 19. Ed's professionalism and customer service was above and beyond. **ZERO WARRANTY** be warned. Bought a Maretron fuel flow sensor from SIME. After they installed it on a T&M basis and could not get it working, I offered to take over troubleshooting. Spent months working directly with the Maretron performing a myriad of tests while SIME was copied on all the emails. After all options were exhausted, the Cummins dealer concluded the unit was not compatible with my engine, although it was specified by Maretron, thru SIME, using my engines make model and serial number. SIME would not return the unit, saying it was used and out of warranty. My first trip in front of the judge the case was postponed because SIME fought the claim stating they had a minor change in ownership structure which precluded them from any liability. This required me to refile and make a second visit in front of the judge. In a strange turn, the Judge claimed Maretron was ultimately at fault despite my purchase contract only naming SIME. When I contacted Maretron and explained the situation, they were appalled at SIME behavior and immediately refunded SIME and forced SIME to refund me. My situation truly highlighted SIME's true character when they went to such an effort to screw me over when all they had to do was contact their supplier to facilitate the return of the equipment. The equipment was purchased on Jan 3, 2019 and the refund check arrived today, April 27, 2020. This 480 day nightmare resulted in me installing an access port and dipping the tank with a stick to more accurately know my fuel level.

Ed was able to diagonse my problem with my Furuno fish finder in one visit when another dealer was telling me to replace the transduce. That was not the problem. Saved me a lot of money and got the problem solved correctly. Ed knows his stuff.

TERRIBLE service. Unprofessional. Most of the yelp reviews say the same thing they are happy to take your money but any type of service after the sale is impossible. They installed thousands of $$$'s of new electronics and did not complete the job. After months of multiple phone calls and emails I am 85% complete but the system is still not working properly. I will need to pay someone else to finish the job. They don't answer the phone and they do not return phone calls I would avoid this business completely.

Ed Hanscom is a master at diagnosing marine electronics problems. Shelter Island Marine Electronics is a world class operation that installed a Raymarine auto-pilot on my sailboat and fixed a thorny issue with one of my existing instruments. I highly recommend the company for its competency and integrity.

Went in to see Ed and showed him the list of outdated equipment on my boat. Could have oversold me on things but he went through each item and figured out what can still work with buying new equipment. Saved me thousands even though I spent thousand. Thanks

No service after the sale! Spent close to $2K for a new cluster---no papers or quick start guide, just a lousy Raymarine sticker! They did not return my old instruments saying they don't work. Won't return my calls or emails. Said nav charts loaded--No Charts or SD card. Might as well throw the system overboard!
