The reorganization of this company has destroyed my high opinion of this company. My taxes were handled poorly, lost in the shuffle. Then, when finally completed, I owed for the first time in 28 years. I told them I didn't have the funds and needed to file for delayed payment (which I did)...they took their fee and submitted my checking account for FULL PAYMENT of my tax bill! My checking account is hugely negative today and now I cannot pay my other bills that are due now. Very disappointed in this company's service.

Absolute horrible customer service. Not to mention they screwed up my taxes and I ended up having to pay more. Incredibly unprofessional.

*Update: Nick's response to my original review just shows how little he knows or cares about his clients. In 2021, for which he completed our taxes (after an extension), we lived full-time in California. It wasn't until 2022 that we moved to Florida and insinuating that we were 'playing the system', just shows his lack of knowledge and general character. Other 'facts' listed in the response are nothing more than twisting what really happened. Simple fact is, based on our experience, Nick just rushes through taxes, which created an opportunity to make a careless mistake (forgetting a W2 form). What's worse is not that he made a mistake, but how he addressed it. He made a major error on simple tax returns, asked us to fix it with the IRS, and got adversarial instead of taking any responsibility -- just like he is doing here. At the end of the day, we had to pay the price. Nick, hope you learn from this instead of continuing to deflect the blame. *I'll keep this short, although I have a lot to say about our recent experience with San Diego Taxman. If you plan to use them, make sure you DO NOT work with Nick. "Unprofessional" and "Careless" don't begin to describe how poorly he handled our personal and corporate tax returns, resulting in massive penalties he failed to take any accountability for.We had a great experience with Dennis years back and he took responsibility and apologized for the way our transaction was handled by Nick. With that said, I felt like it was important to forewarn others not to work with Nick. I'm sure he'll respond to this review - as he did to some others - blaming us for the penalties and calling us horrible clients, but the facts are simply not on his side, and even Dennis (the owner) admitted to it.Save yourself trouble and money, look for another accountant!

I would like to preface- I have been using SDTAXMAN for over 5 years. I have had wonderful experiences up til this year....This year I went back to SDTAXMAN for my taxes. I moved to NJ, and still used them for a number of reasons. I like what the owner has done for the community, they had offered great service, and being an SD native, I want to support local businesses. My taxes aren't that difficult. We aren't a business with multiple revenue streams, amortizing real estate or assets or anything. Everything started out as normal, their prices increased, and with costs increasing across the board, I was okay with paying the increase. The problems and unprofessional service really arose when the taxes were finished and we needed to sign via docusign. My wife and I received emails asking us to sign, and kept receiving emails of when are we going to sign. We let them know we hadn't received any emails from docusign, or links to sign. It went back and forth, and it took my wife 4 attempts to receive and email to sign. I suppose us asking them to do their job and send us an email, to fulfill their multiple requests of signing the documents was too brazen and demanding. My wife received emails with condescending tone and in all caps. Next, I had to sign, and again, never received the email. So I asked them to resend it to me as I hadn't received it. I was told to search my email for it, and they walked me how to use a search bar function to sift through my emails. Again, I emailed back letting them know that I have a fully functioning brain and that I know how to search my email, and can they please send the email with the link again. After that walk through of how to search my email, I contacted the accountant I was working with directly, and was met with a very unprofessional and defensive response. It was as if he forgot that we paid for a service, and we merely expect people we are paying, to be professional. He made sure I knew that there was no link and an email from docusign was sent, so there is no "link", and gave me how to instructions on getting into docusign. He let me know they had been doing this for several years and it's not that difficult. But it was definitely not them, it was us. Hmmm maybe there was an issue with docusign, maybe we actually weren't receiving the emails...instead, he told me to do my taxes on TurboTax next year, and maybe we should part ways.The net/ net of the story is instead of getting curious about the issue, it was an "it's not our fault" mentality. This all stems from asking for an email to sign my taxes. I am extremely disappointed. The unprofessional responses, the defensive emails, and making the customer feel as if they're wrong for asking questions, is unacceptable. I do not want to mention names, but be weary of the newly appointed "Director of Domination" at SD TAX MAN.

San Diego Taxman has done my taxes since 2017, wouldn't go anywhere else. Knowing my taxes were filed by SDTM gives me confidence they were done correctly and a peace of mind that's priceless. See you next tax season. The bonus is Dennis is Irish!

I've been going to Minh since 2015 and he is due for a good review. These guys have been great since I started with them. They have a great system in place that works for very smoothly, ie easy way to upload your paperwork. I messed up this year and filed by taxes late, but they still came through on their end. I hope you will file my taxes until retire.

Dennis has been doing my taxes for 3-4 years now. Highly recommend. He has helped me navigate my taxes over the past few years with major life changes. I went from working for a big corp. to running/starting my own business after covid. He gave me tips & info of what to keep records of etc.

As a self employed person, taxes are always a confusing part of the year. This year I was super late but they were accommodating and helped me make the deadline. The process was made easier with their clear communication and their digital filing system making it easy to securely send and receive documents without having to visit their office.

Really not suitable for business owners... 1. They can't really handle complicated situations. 2. They don't help with tax planning at all. 3. They make mistakes. If you're some average W-2 employee who needs someone to operate TurboTax for you, they're probably fine. If you actually need a real CPA and payroll services, look elsewhere. (Review corrected now that they have stopped using ADP and switched to Gusto)

We've done our taxes with SD Taxman for 4-5 years. Excellent customer service, before and during pandemic. Staff are extremely responsive. They make it super convenient to file documents even remotely. Their organized, streamlined process make it easy to file and retrieve old files. I'm in quality assurance field, trust me on this. ;-) Thank you!
