I've been going to Salon 101 for years (since 2017 or 2018). They cut my hair exactly how I like it, and the owners (who happen to be identical twins) are extremely friendly and remember their customers' preferences so well! It feels like a small town business right in the middle of campus, and it's shockingly affordable considering the high quality. I moved to LA a year ago and still come here to get my hair cut when I'm in town!

I had given a reference picture with how much exactly did I want removed. The barber agreed and then proceeded to spend about 5 mins to do what they wanted ignoring what I had asked for. I am beanie bound for the next couple weeks.

**BEWARE** This is typically my "go-to" spot since it's easy to get to. However, today was by far the worst barber experience I ever had. The haircut is uneven and MUCH shorter than what I asked for. I agreed to an inch but they cut three times more instead. I asked for a middle part (which I always wear) but they were stubborn and kept forcing a side part. When I asked them to see how the middle part would look like at that length, they handed me a comb and told me to do it myself. They rarely asked for my opinion on the haircut, showing me the back once (which turned out to be the incorrect length). Lastly, they didn't blow dry the bits off (which they normally do). Receptionist was nice however. PSA: The stylist also didn't know what a low taper fade was which shocked me since it's almost the most popular haircuts.

I have been going here for the past four years as a UCSD student, and I can say that the haircut are great value. The barbers, Zurina, Megha, and A.J. are my favorites! They are friendly and welcoming!

Horrible. I went to get a lip wax here today and I was burned on my upper lip and on my actual lip. I have been waxed so many times in my life and I have never been burnt this bad. I will have to go to urgent care to resolve my burns. Also booking an appointment for this service was so annoying. I called for 1:15 and they said they could do this time. They later called me five minutes after I booked this appointment and said the water couldn't do this time and I would have to come in at 12:30. I will never go here ever again!

Decently priced, I have always found the staff to be pretty competent. Went a few times for haircuts and was always happy with the result.

Went to get a touch up and brown highlights added to my already chunky highlights. Left with something not even close to my reference, experienced a severe burning on my scalp when at the washing station. Almost like the stylist put bleach directly on my root and scalp right after washing my hair and previous bleach out. Then my hair was roughly brushed right after processing the bleach and wash, overall was not enjoyable was not pleased with the results or the appointment. Do not recommend for hair dye or bleaching.

I consistently leave the shop happy and confident because Rose knows exactly how I want my hair to be cut. I recommend getting your haircut from Rose because not only does she have one of the best services, she also engages in meaningful conversation. Also, the front desk is very kind and approachable. Overall, the vibe is pleasant and well worth the price.
