Great service and fantastic rental experience on an incredibly busy sunny weekend day. Appreciated the ease of doing releases with a QR code

Upon arrival I was asked if I would be OK with a bike with bad brakes. I said no. I was asked to go to another shop over 1/2 mile away,. Not a good experience.

Just a crazy experience all around. Highly recommend inspecting any gear or equipment or bicycles you rent. They are poorly maintained we saw 2 groups come back because there was a piece missing or something wrong with item given to them. Mine caused me to be injured. We had a group with reservations.. by the time we got to use the bikes it was already an hour plus into the reservation time.. they did advise their countdown didn't start till we got the bikes but with other plans set for the day we had to push other reservations back. Inconvenient but hey they did the right thing by starting the 4 hours once we had the bikes. The e bikes... none of us had used one and needed a quick how to on them. Tim seemed irritated that we asked what are these buttons when we had to sign a waiver taking responsibikoty for the bikes. Of course i expect you to tell me how it works. When he went to start the first one to show us how it works it wouldn't turn on. One of our bikes tires had no tread.. it was completely bold. Unfortunately we didnt notice until 30 minutes into the ride, the bike has a flat and another bikes chain broke as well (couldn't pedal) as having a flat tire. We called in about the flat and were advised to PUSH the bike back for an exchange... we were 6 to 7 miles out! He wanted us to push the bikes for 7 miles.. after 15 minutes of back and fourth on the phone he finally agreed to have someone bring us replacements. Took another 45 minutes for us to get our bikes. So far, out of our 4 hour ride we've already been delayed 2 hours. During our wait, just standing there, the third tire pops. The gentleman who delivered the bikes was amazing. Super kind and communicated well. We thought we were finally going to be able to finish our ride without any more incidents... but we were wrong. The moment we took of on one of the 2 replacement bikes the fender was screeching loudly due to rubbing on tire.. you could see on tire where it had been rubbing for a while... again another hazard and a tire eager to pop.. we were able to ignore the screeching and just wanted to get back to return the bikes... 15 minutes in, the 2 bars holding fender in place pop off and catch on the tire sending me flying off of it at 20 miles an hour. I sustained a knee injury and some minor bruising. We were able to resecure the bars to the fender as best as possible and took it slow the rest of the ride having to stop a couple times to re secure it again. When we got to the shop Tim could care less. He was interested in cursing co workers he stated had been letgo a while ago and blaming them for the faulty bikes... all of the bikes were somhow an ex employees fault for not being safe to ride or maintained properly. Which made no sense. We tried to be patient and understanding as Tim was solo at the shop and it was pretty busy. he was getting attitude form alot of people so we felt bad. Slowly we realized why eveyone had an attitude, it was becauae of Tims dissmisal and poor communication. He was insulting and curisng to himself out loud to where everyone in store was uncomfortable. His attitude and the safety concerns of their equipment was what made me ultimately write this post. In my opinion they failed to provide the service we agreed to. They provided equipment that was not maintained or inspected properly which in turn caused me to be thrown off the bike and get hurt. Tim's only concern was that attorney not be involved and figured a small refund should be enough to keep us quiet. And it could have, hadn't his attitude been so horrid towards not just us but just about every customer that came in. There are plenty of places in area that I'm sure maintain their equipment way better and are fully staffed with friendlier people. To quote the first couple whom had left angry when we walked in.... "RUN! RUN FROM THIS PLACE AS IF DEATH WAS GLOOMING BEHIND YOU!"Seriously though. If you go here, check the equipment before you take off. Would have saved us lots of headaches and avoided the frustrating in

Just had the pedal explode on my bicycle. Walked in, obviously injured and asked for a repair. The tall goateee guy says it’s stripped and he may have to special order a pedal or replace the crank. I told him I could see the thread from where I was standing and walked out. Don’t waste your time with these scam artists

Inexpensive properly maintained bikes with coaster brakes on the beach cruisers. But you can’t beat the $10/hour or $15 for 2 hours price. They didn’t offer helmets but maybe they are available upon request.

Helpful staff and easy pickup with a wide variety of things to buy and rent. Prices seemed reasonable all things considered. My biggest complaint is its location on a is he rode with a narrow sidewalk where it's hard to get the equipment in and out

One star too many! Bikes were in horrible condition. They took a HUGE deposit that took a few days to be returned. We couldn't end our hour bike ride fast enough. It was a terrible experience from start to finish. The actual boardwalk path on mission beach was NOT family friendly. Rude people, so many dogs off leashes, drugs, loud music and people not following the rules on the path. I don't recommend cruising the boardwalk with kids. I certainly don't recommend doing it on a bike from Ray's. They were clunky, heavy, dirty and hard to ride. We are big bike riders, we ride bikes nearly daily on a wash trail near our house. These bikes were terrible. The man working was rude. The music playing inside was horrible, the language was terrible, and we were there with little kids. It was dirty and run down. Unfortunately I cannot recommend Ray's Rentals.

Had a pleasant experience, chill staff. Only thing is they should really provide a map of some sort. It's easy to get lost and directions by word of mouth are not sufficient.

This bike rental shop is located right in front of beach. It's only $10 for one hour rental. I guess we went there at the best time thought we didn't plan anything, turns out we were there for the best moment, and had amazing view of the sunset. Apparently, San Diego has the prettiest sunset view around this time of the year (November, between 4:00-5:00pm) I strongly recommend doing it for outsiders and even for locals!!!!

I was vacationing in the area and decided to bike to some nearby attractions. Rays Rental's is in a central location, convenient, very affordable, and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. I rented a hybrid mountain bike for $25 for the day. They also offer weekly rates. Locks and helmets are provided if needed. There is a deposit or hold on your card for $250 or $450 depending on the type of bike you choose but it's immediately released upon return of the bike. My experience with this bike shop and while biking around San Diego was great! I'd highly recommend.
