Peter J.This store's surroundings are poorly maintained and monitored, often with homeless camping, open drug use, defecation and urination at the back of the store in plain view on first and market.

This is a small grocery store but there's a lot of variety, especially in the deli and bakery. This is a great store if you're looking to get a few things for your hotel room. But you shouldn't expect great customer service.

Being that I live in downtown this is where I got to shop. Except when it comes to the meat department which can be questionable. The staff here is helpful for especially dealing with the questionable people that come through there.

The absolute best grocery store in San Diego! Cheaper than Vons, more variety, happier employees than any other big grocery store in San Diego! Their selections on anything is top notch, fresh, current with recipes and their pickup is super easy, or have your groceries delivered. They use Instacart for deliveries and I am not a fan of IC, but when I want my food from Ralph's I will do anything. I usually shop at the La Jolla location, but I am moving soon, and will find a Ralph's closer to my new location.

Ralph's Fish Fry ReviewAs a person that loves fish, I don't particularly care for my house smelling like fish. So anytime I fry fish..I don't. I have Ralph's do it, fry at someone else's home or pay for it at a restaurant. Maybe I just haven't learned the hack for fish smell prevention.Nonetheless, did you know all of the Ralphs have a 'you buy we fry' option that's free. Seasonings include mild seasoning or Cajun seasoning. It's simple. You pick your fish, take it to the back, ask them to fry it. And voila all done. All you need to do is cook your veggies at home. Most of the time the 10 minutes it takes for me to get home doesn't always make it because the fish smells so good and I snack on it. Then I get surprised that it's almost gone. And it is fried to a nice crisp. I particularly like when they use the cornmeal seasoning. The choices I've seen are dover, tilapia, swai, catfish. I also learned that shrimp could be fried. This is a win for those without kitchens, quick bite at lunch, or shortening cooking time when you arrive home.I recommend pairing fried fish with sweet pickles and spicy mustard."Armstrong is to music what Einstein is to physics and the Wright Brothers are to travel." -Jazz documentary producer Ken Burns

As a frequent customer of Ralphs downtown San Diego, I must say that my recent experiences have been quite disappointing. Despite being a well-known supermarket chain, this particular location has failed to maintain its standards and provide a clean and safe shopping environment for its customers.Firstly, the restrooms at this location are consistently dirty and poorly maintained. On multiple occasions, I have found them to be in an unsanitary state, with overflowing trash cans and dirty floors. This is not only unpleasant but also a major health hazard, especially during a pandemic.Secondly, the route security guy at this location seems to be more interested in profiling customers than ensuring their safety. I have witnessed him following and harassing customers who do not fit his narrow definition of a "typical shopper," which is unacceptable behavior for someone in his position.Thirdly, there are far too many homeless people inside the store, which creates an uncomfortable and unsafe shopping experience. While I understand that the store cannot control who enters, they should take steps to ensure the safety and comfort of their customers.Lastly, the store has a persistent and unpleasant odor that is hard to ignore. It is not clear where the smell is coming from, but it is strong and pervasive throughout the store. It is disappointing that the store management has not taken any steps to address this issue.Overall, I would not recommend shopping at this Ralphs location. While there are some positives, such as a good selection of products and helpful staff, the negative aspects far outweigh the positives. I hope that the store management takes these issues seriously and works to improve the store's facilities and safety measures.

Every time my family shops at Ralph's we have always had a great experience, except for today. My wife purchased groceries today from the Ralph's in La Jolla. I was about to enjoy a hamburger pattie, when my eyes observed a piece of hair on the meat.Since we were now near the downtown area I thought I would be able to return it to the downtown location for an exchange. So, I called the downtown location and asked to speak to the store manager to explain the situation and make sure it was OK to exchange these patties for hopefully a different package that wold not have hair in it.The Store Manager Michelle told me I couldn't return the product to her store but needed to take it back to the La Jolla Ralph's.Her explanation was that it needed to show up back in that stores inventory. This is the first time I have ever heard a company say something like that... Please Distrct Manager inform your Store Manager Michelle or inform me if I am wrong about company policy on returns and how she should treat customers who actually are the reason why she has a job to come to, thanks

After a quick visit to the Children's Museum my son wanted something to eat. With nothing close by it helped that there was a Ralph's a block away.Ended up buying some popcorn chicken and a water! It was warm and perfect to curb his hunger. The store was clean and organized. I'll be back for sure.

Was staying at the San Diego Wyndham Bayside and wanted to get some beer and grocery items for the room, as restaurants on the Embarcadero are extremely expensive. We placed an order online to be delivered. It was acknowledged and our delivery time was to be between 3:30 and 5:30, so we stayed in our room to wait. The website said our order had been delivered and the front desk people spent an hour trying to chase it down. At that point, we contacted the store and were told it hadn't gone out yet, but they would get it there within 1/2 hour and would give us a 10% discount. When it still didn't arrive, we checked the website to find our order had been cancelled. Thanks Ralph's for making us waste an afternoon of our vacation and making some front desk people go on a wild goose chase :(

Price gouging big time. Dentyne Chewing Gum $.98 WalMart, $1.98 at Ralph's. RUSTIK bread $5.29 (after discount) at Ralph's, $4.17 at WalMart. We usually buy 20 to 30 items when we go there and probably paid about $30.00 more per trip. We're doing more business at Grocery Outlet, WalMart and believe it or not Trader Joe's.

This store is the closest to my home so it's aggregating that it seems to be so poorly run. Granted they service downtown which is over run by homeless so I'm sure it's not a pleasant store to work for but everything about this place seems off. The escalator to the parking garage has been broken for months, inventory isn't restocked so I can't count on things being there, they are perpetually understaffed, they don't take Apple Pay, there seem to never be baskets available so you have to go searching in the check out aisle, half the time their sale priced items don't ring up properly. It's just a pain to shop here and the person in charge should be embarrassed. I avoid stopping here whenever possible.
