Let me start off by saying we had taken 9 months to take this dog crate back to Petco. It was still brand new in the package and my wife had gotten it online and then we just didn't get around to returning it sooner. That said Petco still carries the product and had 2 of the same in the store. We spoke to the cashier who was pleasant but let us know they couldn't take the product back due to their 90 day return policy. I asked if they could make an exception and possibly give us store credit since they still currently carry and sell the same crate we were trying to return. She said she would go find the manager to see if it was possible. The manager Tyler came out with an attitude from the beginning and said I heard you wanted to speak to me, as if the employee hadn't filled him in on the situation. He was not friendly, he was standoffish having already made his decision regarding our situation, and then pointed out their return policy saying it's clearly stated on this little tiny fine print piece of paper on the counter. I understand store policy and I also understand working with customers to get their business in the door. He was not helpful whatsoever and his attitude was awful. We will never shop at Petco again. Their management is not only unfriendly but they are also rude. I called their PB store and asked the same question wondering if maybe the manager there would have a little more leniency and better customer service than the Clairemont manager. She said no we cannot take it back regardless of whether it's a current product. Again we had bought this product online and maybe there was some fine print as far as returns and I understand that it was 9 months later. She then said to me well if you can't return something in 2 months, come on. It was condescending. I now know that Petco management has a horrible training platform and there's no wonder people don't want to shop there. We will take our business to PetSmart. Both of their managers were arrogant and condescending. A little grace would have gone a long way even if by their policy they were not able to help but their attitude sucks.

This is not the Petco store location in which I write about. But my complaint spans the entire egregious organization. I have been telling all my friends what a horrible experience I recently had at Petco...and the worse part is they demonized me, at, what they tell me, at the corporate level. I have been shopping at Petco for a very long time, since I've been around a long time. I shopped at my local Petco when they were at another location and followed them. I learned, through the college-of-hard-knocks, that the crickets Petco sells are inferior to those sold at other pet supply companies. I would buy crickets, take them home and more would die than eaten. I complained to the then manager E**c (his encrypted name) who would give me a lot more than I purchased...sometimes he would simply give me crickets. Others would do likewise.... but I would still have dead or dying crickets. One day an employee of Petco, who had in the past given me xtra crickets, seemed to be counting the crickets in the plastic bag. (HOW IN THE HELL CAN YOU COUNT HOPPING CRICKETS?) I complained and she suddenly spazzed out at me... quite literally had a sever meltdown. I walked away from her looking for E**c...who told me when I found him to see him in the future regarding buying crickets. I left the store and went to another smaller pet supply company. The crickets I purchased at this smaller store have bred and lasted me for nearly a year. I have NOT had to buy crickets since. So, the Petco employee's melt down was a godsend to my pocketbook. It appears that Petco does not carry hardy crickets...as a matter of fact this was confirmed to me by E**c when I saw him next. He told me that there are hardier crickets. When I saw the spazzing employee I thanked her and told her how she saved me a lot of money and I suggested that she do more spazzing so that others can save money as well. Well, the next time I went to Petco to return an item (mealy bird food), I was met by a man I had never met. He smiled at me and told me that I was no longer allowed in their store. Why? He told me that there had been many complaints about me being 'rude' to employees. Rude? I have never been rude to anyone! I wanted to defend myself but Petco would not allow me to do so. They would not tell me anything! They told me that this had been brought to their corporate level. I will admit that I was so upset over the fact that I was deemed rude and that I was not able to defend myself, that I, at that time only, became VERY disagreeable--stemming from shock and frustration. I tried to call their corporate office. Well, here is another reason to boycott Petco. Unlike ZooMed, Petco is another egregious company who has outsourced their CS department offshore. Those folks over the pond do not want to help U.S. citizens... and try to get them to connect you to an American is IMPOSSIBLE! So, what does that tell you about Petco? (ZooMed, btw, is a great company with AMERICAN CS!!!!!) Needless to say, it appears that Petco employees can be nasty to you, can spaz out at you and have a meltdown and YOU WILL BE DEMONIZED. I recommend buying from a friendly, LOCAL pet supply company...an AMERICAN pet supply company. Too bad that ZooMed does not sell direct :(

They keep limiting cat products in favor of stocking everything dog related. They should call it DogCo.

My bi-weekly visit. Very typical - smooth in and out. The person that rang me up was efficient and polite. I love Petco!

Greeted by the few usual workers, wonderful people, and this store always has the food and treats I look forward to purchasing in stock. The night of New Year’s Day, I relied on this establishment’s specific location after taking a leap of faith, knowing the one off Friars Road closed early. Not to my expectations, but in following faith, I discovered on my arrival they were open. I gladly leaped into the store to purchase the food my babies needed. This location is the most reliable from my experience if you’re heading west towards beaches, or anywhere close to Clairemont West. It is worth the drive.

This place used to be great pre covid. A lot of variety and let's to buy. I would go and check out their large variety of fish, reptiles and other small pets as well as buy supplies. Since covid their selection have gone down and their prices have gone up. Their are so many more and better places you can go to get pey food supplies both online and locally (try pet kingdom!!)

Waste of time when store pick up goes thru and when you get to the store you find out that they don’t have the product and don’t even an apology from the cashier. Really frustrating situation.

To the skinny tall man that worked there this morning. You are rude, have no patience, and arrogant. You need to remember that, if it were not for customers like myself buying from Petco, you would not have a job. Instead of trying to tell me what I should do, perhaps you should listen and let me finish what I am saying.

This review is for Vetco vaccinations. I've gone twice now, a year apart, and both experiences were ridiculous. Ten people and dogs show up a the same time to completely unprepared Vetco personnel. The Vetco rep at check-in was totally overwhelmed and did not understand how to process customers according to their check-in time (same as last year) and said that they "weren't open yet". Customers have to organize the process because the Vetco rep "has anxiety" and is unable to do her job - like, any of it. When I suggested that perhaps someone else could assist with the process, Caitlin, a Vetco tech, complained that I was being rude as she smirked with her hand on her hip. She did not listen to any of the simple instructions given to her from the Veterinarian, Dr. Wood, and so I had to repeat myself. It was very lame. My dog needed three shots and some flea meds, same as last year. Caitlin could not understand the order so we had to go over it again and again. Caitlin treated me with total disrespect, bad mouthing me to other customers and threatening to call her manager (which she never did). She was totally out of line, spoke too fast and was generally unpleasant in her demeanor. I decided not to buy the flea meds after all because their service is consistently so horrible. Dr. Wood must be a saint for tolerating such unqualified, entitled, anxious and nasty staff. I'm going to spend $250 on flea meds somewhere else from now on, this experience is disheartening. Petco staff are talented, caring amazing. Vetco consultants are a woke joke.

No greeting, no acknowledgment. Me and another customer just waiting in the line by the register, watching associates talk to each other. Mona finally came in, was very disrespectful and rude to me. I'm not sure what's up with her mood, but it definitely shouldn't affect customers like it just did. I'll rather drive to a different location.
