Dexter's Deli - North Park
3773 30th St, San DiegoIt was our dog's first adoptaversary and we were motivated to make the day very special for her, so I called in advance to order the bone cake in princess pink. I was surprised to hear that you couldn't really "order" it. Basically, they get cakes in on Thursday, and can't be certain what they are going to get, but if they do get it they will hold it for you. Well, I probably called three times to see if it came in and to ensure that they would hold it for me until after work. They said they had it and they did. So that Friday, after work, it took a bit of fighting in the parking lot (small, crowded and very narrow), but I managed to get to Dexter's Deli to get the cake. It was adorable, but it said "Happy Birthday" and I wanted it to say "Happy Adoptaversary" but they don't make or decorate the cakes in house, and they all come the same way. However, they were able to put my dog's name on the cake, but somehow they didn't even have matching white icing to put the name on so we got it in an odd shade of hot pink. I know it is a dog cake and some people might wonder why I care, but I was spending $36 for a dog cake for photo ops and fun with my dog, so of course I care. I did get a chance to browse around the store while they were writing on the cake. It is quite overpriced, but they do have several cute birthday hats and some beautifully painted cookies for dogs. I decided to get her a squeaky ball and a bag of "Gotcha Day" treats. I left feeling a bit disappointed in my cake experience, but when I brought it home, my husband was super happy with how it looked, and my dog absolutely loved it. It is really much too big for one dog, so she has pieces in the freezer that will last weeks. The cake actually looked really cute in all of her pictures, and I don't know where to get a cuter cake, so I decided to still give Dexter's Deli four stars.

South Bark Dog Wash and Retail Store
2037 30th St, San DiegoWe have been taking our dog, Balthazar, there for occasional baths for years. Although it is largely do-it-yourself, you can get assistance anytime you need it with anything. In addition, they have several services that they provide, including BLUEBERRY FACIALS, which we love. In the back, they have drying stations, which are also very helpful. Although our dog is not a fan of the blow dryer, it gets the job done. It's generally all by appointment, but I suppose that you could just walk in.

Southwest Feed
2671 Monument Rd, San DiegoI cannot say enough good things about Matt at Southwest Feed Grain and Hay! Their customer service is unparalleled! ...oh, wow, just saw that another review said that as well- I'm not changing my adjective because it's the right one! Last year at Halloween Matt loaned the school I work at a bunch of hay bales to help us create some atmosphere for our school's Fall Festival. They were a huge hit and we got lots of compliments! They just changed the feel of the whole event, and made for a great place for parents to take photos of their little ones for the memory books! This year when I called Matt, I explained that we no longer had access to a truck to retrieve the bales (that he again graciously offered us) and he said he would drop them off at our school for us a few days ahead of time, WOW! I am just so thankful! Check out the rest of the great reviews and you'll see that this is a business that really knows how to create relationships within the community! Thank you, Matt and co. for going the (literal) extra mile... and making us smile!

Dr.Farrell and his team are some incredibly talented people with big hearts. They performed a big difficult surgery on my elderly cat and got her walking again. Him and his staff went above and beyond making sure Kitty was taken care of and as comfortable as possible before, during and after her surgery. They gave me the peace of mind knowing they were happy to address any and all my questions and concerns along the way. This is the sort of customer service you don't see very often anymore. Dog Days San Diego

The staff is amazing friendly and caring I have a very big dog an Alaskan Malamute he’s 150 pounds of love , Dog Days evaluates every dog for there mannerism and how well they interact with other dogs just to make sure everyone gets along as they believe in an open environment for the dogs to interact without stress of being confined . At the end of the day dogs are more happier but most importantly owners are Satisfied knowing there dog was well cared for. A Big Woof to Dog Days .I’ve had some horrifying experiences with Dog boarding at Veterinary Hospital that have Licensed Veterinarians full time and trained staff … one would think such places would be cream of the crop , you would be surprised.

Osteria Cotto e Mangiato
702 Ash St, San DiegoThe menu isnt extensive but has classic pasta and starter dishes. We started with the classica bruscetta and buschetta prosciutto & fichi, and the classica bruschetta was my favorite. The freshness of the tomatoes and flavor of the pesto was impeccable. We tried the cheese wheel pasta that comes with special pasta of the day (gnocchi with mushrooms and truffle) tossed in a cheese wheel and served in a pan. It was on the heavier, creamier and cheesier side and i would recommend it for those who are looking for a ooey gooey dish of pasta. Our server recommended the stuffed lobster and shrimp tortelli pasta. The sauce is creamy (but not as creamy as the cheese wheel pasta) and is made with tomatoes. The dish is topped with a big ball of burrata. We tried the espresso martini and cosmopolitan. The espresso martini had more of a strong coffee than bold liquor flavor, but the cosmopolitan was a little sweet and boozy. Overall, it was a solid meal and be prepared for a food coma afterwards. The interior is beautiful with wine bottles, paintings and pictures hanging on the wall. Street parking is the way to go. Our server was friendly, and the portions are generous for its price point.

5433 Gaines St, San DiegoI've dropped off two wounded wild animals my kids and I have come across here. Staff are wonderful, especially when we called to check in later on one my daughter was especially worried about. Also, please make sure you donate if you can when you drop off so they can continue this important work.

UTC Mall dog park
8949 Lombard Pl, San DiegoI wouldn't personally bring my dog to a mall but for those who do, this is a great little dog park to let your pups run around. It's all grass and has small benches near the entrance. It's tucked in behind the food court (you go down the ramp near Starbucks just outside the food court). It's always quiet there, I've seen two dogs there at the most at any given time. You will see people walking by, so this would be a good place to expose your puppy to people without overwhelming them.
