Nice playground but shade is lacking and there can be homeless at times.

A man decided to defecate in the middle of the playground in front of my children. It a shame that this is happening given that there is a bathroom steps away.

Went there today with the 6 and 8 year olds. One slide on the smaller playground was roped off because it wasn’t working. A different area in the larger playground was also roped off. They had a crew cutting a tree nearby and more roping off. We’ve been to much better playgrounds. Skip this one until the construction is over.

If my kid could rate it, it definitely gets all the stars :D My only complaint is the public bathrooms are a little dirty for the area. Balboa park is a clean area overall.

Love this playground, but not hardly any shade on the actual play structures so definitely have sunscreen and hats for the kids.The park is beautiful with the older/grown trees and great shade for a picnic, but the playground is not shaded and can get very hot mid-day. .I love that there is a nice sand pit and two separate play structures for both smaller and older kids to enjoy and swings.It's a very easy walk to the museums at Balboa and shares parking with the Fleet Science center.

Wonderful playground in Balboa Park. My grandson wanted to stay all day. Picnic tables in the shade, very clean. Different levels of play sets for all ages.

Great park for the kids to hang out for a few hours. also awesome that it’s right next to the Fleet Science Center and other museums.
