When I lived in Southern CA this shop was introduced to me by my daughter 11 years ago and was my go to place for my dog. The previous owner used to groom my dog like she was a show dog and they continue to do the same. There is a new owner and it still felt like I never left. Everyone really cares for your fur-babies, prices are great, I even noticed if your dog has any skin issues you can bring your own shampoo/conditioner or whatever your vet prescribed. We've recommended Paw Alley to many folks as well... Thank you everyone at Paw Alley, you're the best!!

This place used to be great but not anymore. Today, we dropped off our dog for a grooming. She used to run in and barely say goodbye. Today, she borderline cried and was shaking when my wife dropped her off. My wife then called me, and we talked to the staff on the phone who gave us a bunch or excuses as to why and they explained that she's totally ok. Being a tough dog, I gave Paw Alley the benefit of the doubt.When I picked her up, she was happy as can be to see me, and we got out of there. As I'm inspecting her (mediocre at best) haircut, I noticed this scrape on her nose... see the photo.This place simply doesn't have the same quality staff that they used to have. The last haircut, they shaved her private area too short and cut her, and today it was her nose.Please save your pets from these people!!! This is probably around the 10th time we've been here, and we will never come back.Update: I called and explained the situation, and they refunded my money.

I brought my 6 year old golden retriever to Paw Alley for a full groom. He's well behaved and has been groomed many times with no issues. During checkin I verbally told the staff that my dog has a chicken allergy and cannot have the chicken/Turkey treats they were offering. I also wrote it on his allergy list. For the next 24-48 hours after pick up he was itching his legs/paws and coughing non stop. On top of this, after getting him home we noticed a cut by his right eye where they stopped the bleeding with the clot powder. Upon further assessment there are a few toe nails that were cut so short they bled and had the clot powder applied as well. As I stated before our dog has been groomed many times with no issues. The worst part is that none of these issues were brought to our attention by the groomer/check out staff. I will not be returning to this establishment. I would give 0 stars if possible.

I've taken my small, poorly behaved dog here a couple of times for nail clipping. The staff are always friendly and efficient and make the experience as agony-free as possible. Would definitely recommend!

No warm fuzzy feeling from the staff to me or my puppy.They shaved my 6mos, 6lbs poodle mix entire body down to skin because of a few knots. Tail and head hair left but needed to reshape with scissors at home so she could see.I was quoted $45-$60 with a $50 deposit must be paid by phone with appointment. Was charged $70 upon pick up forgetting I had already paid 50.Reviews show good service to others in the neighborhood unfortunately that was not the case for us. Was really disappointing

In complete disbelief writing this bad review. I own 3 Chow Chows & although they are known as an aggressive breed, I would come to Paw Alley and have no problems whatsoever. Until my most recent visit. First and foremost, I'm completely aware about the temperament of my dog's breed, how anxious one of my Chows can be (she's a girl) so I've only attempted to bring her in one time. I had no serious issues, she was just very anxious and refused to get groomed, so I took her home. It was that simple. I do not bring her here after the first attempt didn't go so well. And I completely understand. Never brought her again, but instead, when I dropped off my oldest (male Chow) recently I would ask for advice on what to do (about my female Chow) & how to slowly have my most anxious dog okay with going in, mind you she just had puppies too... I haven't gotten the chance to re-try, so I just have brought in my least problematic. (Male Chow) & calmest Chow. I've been a customer for 5 years, eversince my oldest boy Chow was a pup. NEVER in 5 YEARS have I had an issue with my oldest going to the groomers. Recently I dropped him off to get groomed and this time he was more anxious & mishandled to the point where one of the groomers was bit. which was odd because I've never had an issue with bringing him to get groomed. THEY TOOK HIM IN ANYWAYS. From what it seemed, it looked like the groomer got head-butted. I watched the groomer pull him aggressively with his leash, legitimately dragging him to bring him in, which made him stand still, and eventually got him agitated enough to nip her in the forehead. My spouse and I witnessed how uncomfortable the entire ordeal was. I asked if she was okay and asked if I should even continue the appointment because he seemed more anxious than usual. They said it was fine & also said he might have just been more anxious than usual. Exactly what I said too. Which was just strange to me, but I trusted them because they're "professional" and I've been a long time customer. I was also making short conversation over the concern of my female Chow & how I can possibly retry bringing her in for a groom. I assumed it was because my dog may have not been used to the groomer handling him. How come only the owner knows how to excuse a uncomfortable dog but the groomers don't? After allowing the groomers to take my dog, within 10 minutes I received a call and the owner advised me he had bit the groomer AGAIN and needs to be taken home. I was in shock, thinking he completely misbehaved himself even after I left, but the owner was referring to the earlier situation where I was PRESENT and WAS COMPLETELY AWARE OF, WHICH I ASKED THE LADIES WORKING IF IT THE APPOINTMENT SHOULD EVEN CONTINUE AFTER WITNESSING THE WHOLE ORDEAL. HE TRIED TO TELL ME MY DOG HAS BITTEN THEM BEFORE. ARE YOU SURE??? HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I HAD A SECOND DOG THAT WAS BROUGHT IN AND HAD TO BE TAKEN HOME OVER ANXIETY. When I returned to pick up my dog I apologized and said he has never done anything like this before & the owner really tried to tell me he has. How come I never knew about it? How come it wasn't reported to the Humane Society like THIS particular incident? First of all, how dare you assume it was my dog from previous experiences. Second, I recall bringing in my previous Chow (more anxious one) and just being turned away over how anxious she was. She did not bite anyone, otherwise it would have been reported, wouldn't it? Because I received a phone call from the Humane Society about this particular situation, and this was the first time I ever I've had a call like this since owning him. The customer service from Paw Alley on that day was traumatizing. I will never bring any of my dogs here again & will be sure to let my peers know the kind of experience I had to deal with. We love Paw Alley!! The staff here always takes such good care of our girls. Our pups are a handful but the staff does a great job with them. Thank you guys for keeping our girls clean and pretty!

In the past 2 years I've had my dog, I've taken her to 4 different groomers - Paw Alley being my 4th. My recent experience with Paw Alley was my first visit there and was the first time I have absolutely loved my dog's haircut! The people at Paw Alley were attentive to my desires for my pup's grooming and executed perfectly - she looks so cute and smells great! They also completed the grooming before the amount of time they quoted me. We will definitely be back soon!

We've been taking our pups to Paw Alley since the mid '90s and with the newest owners, Nicole, and Jeff of 7+ years, and have ALWAYS been very happy and pleased with the results. This is truly a gem of a place, it has ample parking, very easy to get in and out, their turnaround time is in a class of itself - usually just 2 - 3 hours, not to mention their very competitive pricing. We've recommended them to all of our friends who have been paying more than twice the price we've paid and have incurred wait times of 6 hours or more for their pups to be groomed. It's just a matter of time till this jewel of a place is no longer takes new customers.

Lucky and I have been going to Paw Alley for the last 4.5 years since we moved to San Diego. Lucky isn't the easiest dog to groom given his horrible first grooming experience in the past. However, the folks here are amazing and overtime, his grooming experience has gotten better. I loved that they were always consistent. The staff was always friendly. I especially appreciated the holiday pictures in December. Y'all were the best we moved to Portland last year and still haven't found a grooming service that compares to Paw Alley.

If I can give 20 stars, I will do it! It's My baby Havana's 3rd time here at the Paw Alley.. and still never dissappoint me! Love the way they do business here.
