This shop is the best in San Diego. My son takes surfing lessons from Kyle and loves it. He also does the after school surf club as well. Definitely recommend this place. They carry the best surf and skate gear too.

This shop is the one! My daughter had a private surfing lesson and it was a blast. The in house instruction was so helpful and the step by step instruction of how to get on the board was excellent. Her surf coach, Kyle, was super knowledgeable and successfully helped her get up on her board. The whole staff was friendly and caring. I highly recommend them for surfing lessons and great shopping. Thank you!

This place has the best hands-on staff! They are knowledgeable about both surf and skate, and really made me feel comfortable while repairing a pretty specific problem with my skateboard and I feel confident I got the best help!Love all the local vibes with their surfboard selection as well, and have really loved the shop-branded surfboard I got here!Plus they’re dog friendly!

Extremely impressed on the ding repair service. Dinged the entire back end of my longboard up pretty good and they fixed it right up in under a week’s time. Can hardly even tell it was dinged. Highly recommend for all surfboard services at fair prices. Will be bringing all my boards back for service.

I have really wanted to post a recommendation about OB Surf & Skate for a long while but something happened yesterday that prompted me to do that right now: I was surfing in OB, and the cord which attaches my leash to the board plug, itself, broke, the board flew away, leaving me to swim ashore in heavy kelp while I watched the board bounce ashore. It was an altogether scarey experience, frankly, but I wanted to get the board back in operation and so retrieved it ashore and got cleaned-up and went to OB S&S, leash in hand. They had the cord, and, in fact, gave me another one for my other board as a precaution and some surf wax for good measure (totally unexpected and much appreciated). I believe the person who helped me was named Matt, and he has helped me before on things and came through for me once again. Walking home it caused me to reflect what makes this shop special: First, it's a real surf shop with a minimum of bric-a-brac like trendy clothes, etc. Also, for frequent surfers they have everything you need (boards, wetsuits, repair "stuff", wax etc etc, and a great selection at that). Also, their prices are very reasonable. This isn't a place full of $1500 surfboards and $500 wetsuits. Finally (and most importantly) like Matt, all the people who work there have been very kind and helpful to me. One person, Aiden, awhile back saw me looking at a board repeatedly and one day as I walked into the shop he took the board from the rack and announced "THIS board has YOUR name all over it!". It was so funny I nearly bought the board on the spot. Another person, Sophia, who used to work there, also deserves special mention for her help and advice with my spring suit purchase. Anyhow, all these things make this place special, and I have recommended it to many visitors to OB when they are looking to rent or buy a board, etc. I feel very fortunate to have OB Surf & Skate as my local, and favorite, surf shop. You need to check it out.

This place is awesome. I go to them for all my re-grips on my longboards. Super friendly and will give you exactly what you want. I've had 3 of my boards re-gripped perfectly and above my expectations.

Great employees. All of the staff are super knowledgable and friendly. I picked up an old-school board and was able to find exactly what i needed. They gripped it and threw some rib bones on it for me as well. They also recommended some local made bearings which are excellent. Super fast and smooth. If you are looking for bearings check them out. They come in a cannabis pop top which is also a nice little SD touch. One of the girls who works at the shop was great with my 3 year old son. He was literally sitting in her lap looking at all the rad sunglasses and boards. Anyway the whole experience was amazing. Go support these guys.
