Great place for experienced climbers or newbies (like myself) just getting into the sport. I've visited a few times now with friends to use the bouldering section, but they also offer top rope and a regular gym with free weights, stationary bikes, etc. Day pass with gear rental was about $38, but you can upgrade to a full week for only about $8 extra. The bouldering walls offer a good mix of regular routes and overhangs. The space is actually quite small but it doesn't feel it - they make really good use of the footprint. The routes are well labeled and always changing; they even publish information about when they'll be re-routing sections so you know what to expect. I would say that the gradings here feel harsher than other gyms (a V2 here tends to be like a V3 somewhere else), but thankfully there are a lot of beginner routes with sturdy holds, which makes learning less intimidating. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the community is amazing. Definitely would recommend to locals or anyone visiting the area!

This is a really cool climbing gym with helpful staff. I think this gym really makes good use of the limited space they have by setting lots of interesting unique climbs. I do prefer the Mira Mesa location because it's bigger, but I still try to make it out to this gym as well because it offers climbs that Mira Mesa does not. It gets pretty crowded on week nights, so I prefer to go during the day.

I AM BLOWN AWAY BY HOW AMAZING THIS STAFF IS. I have very little knowledge of bouldering. I first met Johnathan earlier in the day to get a tour showed me what they had to offer. I couldn't climb at the time; I ask so many questions and he answered all of them. I was given a free pass; I climbed and came back to ask Johnathan more questions at the desk and would go back to climb. I left with a HUGE smile on my face. The next day I came and saw Sabian. I ask more questions and felt so comfortable talking to ALL the staff. He showed me shoes, what all the differences there were in all of them. I think we tried on at least 4-5 different sizes & Chandler came along to help in this process and it was fantastic within 2 days, I had everything I needed to begin my new climb adventures. WHOM ever is the manager of these 3 and the guy with the curly hair (we discuss food a lot) give these guys something special they are VERY IMPOTANT TO MESA RIM CLIMBIMG COMMUNITY!!!!! You can't go wrong with this gym, everyone here is nice and helps you if you are new, socially and physically. Yoga, the gym, the people, the calm relaxing environment can't be beat. CHEERS GUYS!!!!

This place has been awesome. The staff is super helpful. There are other climbers who generally are willing to share tips and there is no reason to be intimidated. The paths are clear and you just keep going and finding what challenges you.

I've been coming here for a few years now. The staff is always helpful and friendly. I like how they have sensory sundays where there's no music playing in the AMs, and I also like the music they do play, when it is. It's just a supportive environment all around, for everyone. Additionally enjoy their yoga classes as well.

Had a great climb while I visited! Wasn't to busy and I was able to move around with other courteous climbers throughout!

The place is great if you're hoping to get into a hobby. My only peeve is that the "easy" rock climbing wall is too cramped to share with the number of people that visit in the evenings. This place gets packed after 5 pm, so finding any space to climb is a task in itself. I was hoping this place was somewhere my 9 year old could develop a hobby, but it's not really suitable for beginner children with no experience. If they had a kid zone, I'd definitely give it five stars, but it's not very kid friendly in my opinion. It's fun and my son liked it, but I can see him getting frustrated on a busy night.

10/10 recommend this gym and this location! It was my first time, my friend has been climbing for over a decade and introduced me to this location, teaching me the ins and outs! I'll come back for sure!

One of the bigger climbing gyms I've been to in San Diego. Offers a good yet small space for bouldering that has some stricter grading when compared to Hangar 18 and Touchstone Gyms I've been to. Wonderful amenities and shopping options as well to fit your climber needs.

Great climbing gym, spacious and well-organized. I came back after a month and the entire bouldering area was newly rerouted. Spacious lead area. I'm sorry there are no autobelay devices, considering the entry cost, I would have expected this service as well. Well-equipped gym with a moonboard, weights, and cardio available.

Came here and brought some of my friends with me after going to the other branch at San Marcos because it was nearer to where I live and I feel like in comparison this one is a little bit bigger, but also it's much more crowded. I feel like compared to the other one as well it's just a little bit more compressed but they do also have a lot of different courses. Their bouldering is very impressive. They have a good gym with all the essential machines needed for a good work out.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!! This gym is great but it's a very "local" esq type gym. My first times coming here it was alright and then I bought my 10pass and the workers never were too nice, only talked to regulars and didn't seem too thrilled when you had/wanted to sign up or purchase an item. I had brought my friends and they weren't thrilled in helping them too, ask my brother and them, workers sucked. Real lack of urgency and customer service. On top of that I had left an item, called that night to have them get it or look for it, and also let em know that ide be back the next day. -- came back the next day and they couldn't find it, it was stolen and the workers were of no help. They only seemed to care when i gave them a bad rap on social media and then seemed to try to tend to it when it should've been resolved at first glance. Also not sure if they even looked for it since i told the dumb dumb over the phone where it was... lack of urgency. Also this gym has many bad habits of people laying down, having the worst climbing etiquette (regulars who think they own the place), little kids and families who just walk around the mats, and not a single thing is done about it. They tell you to have etiquette but everyone that's works there won't say anything to bad etiquette because the workers are some of the laziest people I've ever seen on the clock. No one helps and honestly the bouldering isn't good. Go to another gym, plenty better, Mesa Rim is overrated as hell

Good combination of bouldering, TR, and lead climbs. Has a spacious airy feeling. I sometimes use the upstairs to get work done as well. Friendly staff too. If they just partnered with a rotating food truck situation I'd probably live there.

Just recently joined and couldn’t be happier. Gym is very inclusive for every walk of life and everyone here accepts everyone for who they are and I love it.Staff is extremely helpful. I have been climbing in about 8 years and I was extremely intimidated at first but the staff was super helpful and eased me back into climbing.People from work now want to come and try it. Highly recommend it.
