Very quiet, clean place, full of squirrels, ideal for having a picnic or resting for a while. Close to downtown San Diego and the Zoo

Located inside Balboa Park, this parking area offers some of the best views of Downtown, San Diego Bay, and Point Loma. Planes fly directly overhead and land at the airport, so it's a great place for aviation enthusiasts. My main complaint is that the parking area hasn't been paved in decades! And it needs it.Picnic area: Plenty of grassy areas for a picnic

Great view of down town on certain nights you can see lightning in the distance over the ocean

CLOSED. This has been closed for weeks for no good reason. The only reason I can see is a large water hose is hooked up that crosses over the road. So they closed it. A loss of much parking space.

It's a nice open park with plenty of grass and tree's. Little to no seating and no restrooms.

This is part of San Diego's beautiful Balboa Park. This specific area is quite relaxing and gets very good sunlight. It is a great spot to for many different activities, but with Downtown San Diego situated as the gorgeous backdrop for this part of Balboa Park, it is ideal for a romantic picnic or peaceful walk as there aren't usually many children or other annoyances that frequent Marston Point.

Sadly Large Loop road, South of Chess Club building is not good. Bathroom on that road has been closed for years, and Northern Bathroom at intersection becomes overly busy, many unhoused/homeless, and regularly dirty. Unhoused/homeless need alternative bathrooms, and SafeZone parking also! I came in the evening/night and it was very lonely and quiet. Generally beautiful area, lots of parking when road & parking lots open. Much picnic and rest areas, lots of paths and trails too!! Hope more help will come to this area soon, as it is so close to SO much residents and housing.

I really enjoy the beauty and tranquility here at the Marston House. At one end of the property, there is a great little bench that sits beneath the cover of some type of woven tree branches. Here you can sit quietly, and alone for the most part, overlooking a beautiful wooded canyon - great bird watching and rose garden too.
