This was my first year working with Ian to file my taxes, and I am really happy I found him. My return was a little bit more complicated this year, but the entire process with him was painless! I have always been very skeptical of having individuals do my taxes. However after researching and reading reviews I decided to utilize Macdonald CPA last year and I can now say it was one of the best decisions I made. The only thing I regret is not finding him sooner.

Fantastic help over the phone! Called exactly when we scheduled, was able to give me a great estimate on my taxes with the information I provided and explained my taxes could probably be done my own rather than trying to upsell me on his services! Would highly recommend!

I'm not a client of Ian's but I emailed him to get some PPP and small business advice. He got back to me the next day and was enormously helpful! He's very knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions in a way I could understand.

I found Ian on Yelp and used him to file my 2020 taxes. He gave me the option to file in person or virtually and we had a 1:1 to discuss my info prior to submitting. I gave him all my documents before the tax submission window was open and he had already filed my return by the time the IRS started accepting returns. My refund was sent to me within 2 weeks of filing and Ian was very responsive via email. I would definitely recommend if you don't want to deal with your own taxes!

I like to say that I'm a organized mess when it comes to things like my taxes. I've always had it good with awesome CPAs that take the time to sit with me and call out everything that I forgot to bring but that I can easily locate with my laptop in hand. It's been a surefire way to make sure nothing is missed and to ensure that everything is filed completely and correctly... until 2021. Yep, apparently there was a pandemic or something? Okay, jokes aside, Covid-19 took away the convenience to sit face-to-face with a CPA that calls me out on all my organizational shortcomings. I did make a few phone calls and everyone was reluctant to work with me when I disclosed how I operate and how much of a disaster I can be. Everyone except, Ian Macdonald. Here's the thing, besides my controlled chaos and finding someone who can handle it, I also wanted a CPA that I can grow old with, as cheesy as that sounds. You know, someone that I can use for the rest of my life and get things as automated as possible. This eliminated anyone too much older than me and Ian absolutely fit the bill. Ian, you're hired! After going over my previous tax returns, Ian was able to email a complete list of everything that I needed to provide him to get the job done. That was a fairly easy task for me and once he had everything in hand he got started crunching my numbers. Throughout the process and upon completion, Ian was extremely clear with his communication, explained everything to me as if I was a ten year old child (I need the laymen terms), and delivered bad news (yup, we owed!) in a very delicate manner. While I never want to pay, I also know that no CPA wants to tell you that you owe money. Ian's "bedside manner" when it came to this discussion was excellent and crystal clear. My experience with Ian was great and I even referred one of my best friends to him who also was incredibly pleased with Ian's ways of conducting business. Sorry, Ian, you're stuck with us, my friend... happy filing!

My colleague introduced me to Ian, who immediately displayed a friendly, professional, and honest demeanor. He was happy to answer all my emails, asking a variety of questions relating to personal finance, all the while being very informative and quick to respond. He filed my last two years' taxes for me, and the entire process was very easy and hands-off (to my preference).
