The bar and restaurant charges a 4% surcharge for ??? I asked 3 employees and no one could answer what it was for. It seems as if a way just to nickel and dime their customers. It's petty, really.Location is good and staff was friendly. However, some idiot there decided it would be a great idea to test the fire alarm system @ 9:30 AM during one of the busiest travel weeks of the entire year. The literally could have waited 4-5 days and the hotel would have been practically empty.

The hotel its self offers many amenities like a pool, decent gym, and restaurants/shops. If you make a reservation for this hotel via Expedia be aware that there is a $125 a night deposit fee that is not mentioned on Expedia. I was not expecting this and depending on how many nights you stay will get pretty pricey. I paid almost half of what it cost for my family to stay three nights in deposit fees alone. It was helpful that they take Apple Pay and you can pay for the deposit with a debit or credit card.I have to agree with the other reviewers about the people around the hotel. It seems San Diego has made a bit of a decline in the last few years as there were many transient people on the streets surrounding the hotel. While this isn’t the hotels fault or matter to fix I don’t find it right that they charge guest a transient fee in the resort fee. Also the location is great, there is so much to do and you can easily walk to it.Lastly they charge $42 a day for self parking and $60 a day for valet parking. The lot they use is also available to other people who are not guest to park in so I don’t se why they charge so much. We parked on the street away from the hotel all parking spots no more than a 10-15 min walk to and from the hotel. Doing that we paid less than what one night of parking in their lot would be. So if you’re able to and don’t mind walking I’d suggest parking on the street.House keeping was great our room was cleaned daily beds made and towels replenished. A last little tidbit the gift shop is ridiculous, a tube of toothpaste cost $15, just drive over to Ralph’s or 7Eleven for essentials you may have forgotten.

I left a review yesterday and have now deleted it. That was a 2 star review. This is now a 1 star. Wanna know why?Bed bugs.I'm in the emergency room tonight and that's what the doctor just told me these hives are. So, cool. On top of the ridiculously expensive bar and restaraunt, the crackheads walking around the streets yelling, and the 3 different front desk people needing retraining on customer service, this place was just terrible top to bottom.

This is the most amazing dog friendly hotel. The staff is so accommodating and welcoming. My dogs were allowed everywhere in the hotel and the staff swoon over them. Made me feel so welcome. Valets gave the dogs a treat every day. Easily accessible to all of the gaslamp restaurants and within walking distance of so much more of San Diego. Lou and Mickey's around the corner. Allow dogs on the patio and in the restaurant. We had an amazing dinner there.

Located directly from the convention center in the Gaslamp quarter, this Hilton got a nice renovation. Very close in walking distance to all restaurants and bars/clubs along with the convention center and Petco Park. We had a 1 bedroom suite with a beautiful decor and two gigantic TVs along with a small patio, fridge, and safe. I enjoyed the layout but found the ceilings to be slightly low so it made it feel smaller. Certain parts of the room were carpet while others were old school tiles. Left side of the bed was missing or seemed to be missing a night stand so they had a table instead. The toilet seat was extremely loose. Shower pressure was very good and bathroom was nice. Comfortable bed and room, location is great and felt safe. They charge valet parking of $60/night.

As soon as I walked in Eric greeted me. He was super easy to talk to and really knowledgeable. Check in was a piece of cake. Since I am celebrating my birthday in San Diego, he gave me a free upgrade and two free drinks. He didn't tell me what kind of room he upgraded me to, but as soon as I stepped foot in the room it was nice. You can tell they renovated this hotel from the last time I was here. We got a corner 1 bedroom suite. The decor is very nice and new. Looks like a modern 70's look. This Hilton is literally in the Gaslamp district, walking distance from all the shops/bars and restaurants. Definitely prime location! This is why I love being a Hilton Honor member. They treat their members amazing! Thank you again Eric for making my weekend even better! I will definitely be staying here anytime I'm in San Diego.

The location is great, you can walk down the Gaslamp area, all the bars and restaurants are near by. If you are trying to save money on parking you can park two blocks down for a cheaper price. The pool is small here. Nice and clean entrance hall. There's tables to do work on your computer if you need to. Great views.Rooms: Revamped roomsWalkability: You can walk anywhere you need to. Trolley is close by too.Food & drinks: For and drinks are good

Best location for Convention Center and Gaslamp. Alternative parking nearby.Service was prompt and courteous.Room was clean and reasonably comfortable overall.Reasonable supply of outlets/chargers for devices and CPAP.The mattress was a bit hard. Nice for one night, but hard on the body after a while.Perfect for a short stay. Tougher for a longer one.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location walking distance to the San Diego Convention center and great restaurants and bars in the Gaslamp Quarter. The rooms were clean and felt updated. I had a corner suite which was nice. However make sure you don't get a room facing the convention center because you will hear the train AND ships from the harbor 24/7. Hilton does not do anything to attempt to soundproof. The pool area was nice but NOT hot tub.My chief complaint at the Hilton Gaslamp Quarter, was specifically at their restaurant, and my profound disappointment with the service. I dined at this establishment with high expectations but left with a negative impression. My primary complaint revolves around a severe lapse in communication regarding my gluten allergy. Before placing my order, I diligently informed my server, Xochi, about my gluten allergy, and she assured me that the items I selected were gluten-free. However, my trust in her guidance was misplaced, as I later discovered that the tortilla accompanying the Queso Fundo contained wheat flour, despite it not being mentioned on the menu. When I brought this issue to Xochi's attention, her response was defensive and unapologetic, leaving me in a difficult situation. She said "I thought you would not eat the tortillas." I asked if she had corn and she said "well yeah....but I thought you were just going to eat the cheese". Apparently she's never had Queso Fundido before? She then said "well I guess it's both of our faults" I attempted to speak with a manager, but was initially directed to the front desk. After some delay, the food and beverage manager appeared, but by then, our bill had been settled. I was at a client meeting so this made the whole meeting incredibly awkward.Although compensation was offered in the form of 30,000 Hilton Honors points. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I found this experience exceptionally disappointing and hope for a satisfactory resolution. The night before, my company spent a few thousand dollars+ at an event we hosted.Walkability: Right across the street from San Diego Convention center and walkable to great bars and restaurants.

I was fortunate enough to get a presidential suit at this Hilton and enjoy a generous dose of the entertainment and beauty San Diego offers. I played several games of life sized chess, and enjoyed drinks while asserting dominance in cornhole. The Terrance and outdoor activities are an excellent feature!Walkability: No need for an Uber ride to almost anywhere in downtown San Diego, let alone the Gaslamp quarter.Food & drinks: Excellent restaurant and bar right inside the hotel, but also in walking distance a wide range of dining experiencesNoteworthy details: It’s a 10 minute drive to Coronado island, situated at the corner of the Gaslamp quarter, across from the conference center, and a stones throw from the ocean. A view from the rooms on the Terrance side would likely display the beautiful downtown landscape with Hard Rock and other high rises adding to the visual appeal

We were familiar with SD, having lived there. We were there to bury my husband so it really wasn't a " vacation." It was nice to be in a very nice hotel. We felt cared about & cared for. This is myb& our daughter in the bar.Rooms: Comfy, nice appointments. Beds were good. Appreciated the coffee machine.Safety: Room wad safe. Neighborhood not so much.Walkability: Could have been OK but the homeless & drugged out made it unappealing for walkingFood & drinks: Bar was nice. Dinner in the restaurant was very good!

Great location but best of all, great staff. Kudos to SYLVIA at housekeeping, BERKELEY the Bell Captain and STEPHANIE at the front desk who had distinctly exceptional customer service! Only complaint was perhaps during our organizational meeting at the Marina rooms, they dropped the ball on the coffee service- a coffee station with 'Coffee', ' Decaf' labels, cream/sugar/stirrers etc., cups and all, but NO coffee all day (finally arrived in the last hour of the day's meeting!)

Great location, close to most popular destinations, restaurants and ferry to Coronado. Staff was caring and always eager to help. Their restaurant was great for breakfasts and had a good variety with friendly servers. Really enjoyed our stay.

The room was great and employees were friendly, however forcing people to pay for parking is ridiculous and unfair especially for the price. Allow self parking or include parking with the room for a Hilton Member. Or lower it to 15 or something.
