This is a sketchy donation center just off the freeway. I'm sure that it's good for goodwill and they 100% do their job so no disrespect to the people here but it's pretty grungy. Lots of parking and room to maneuver large objects if that's what you need to do.

Drive up to drop off. It is 3pm. They close at 430pm. They said they were closed. I told them I drive twenty minutes. They just ignored me. Give your stuff to a place that wants it and the employees are decent.

I’ve been here several times and every time I dread going because it’s a horrible experience. Today the lead staff there was incredibly rude and threw things in the back of my car they wouldn’t accept, instead of nicely saying, we don’t accept those things. Going to find another location because it’s absolutely horrible going there.

3 grown men yelling at a woman at 9am with a baby in her car because I wasn't moving out of the line fast enough for them when a car behind me just pulled up a second ago. I needed to scan the code. So rude! Treated like crap for just wanting to make a donation and do a good thing. Horrible

I've lived in Del Mar area for more than ten years, and donate unused household items to Goodwill Carmel Valley. I am writing this review to appreciate the working staffs in this donation center for their friendly and kind services including accepting the donations or explaining in detail how to fill out the newly changed QR code receipt; And surprisingly enough, they even kindly explained some of the items Goodwill doesn't accept to my mom in Japanese because she does not speak English fluently. My family members really appreciate it, especially my mom!! - M. Larson

Horrible!! I was dropping off 3Bags of clothes. These lazy people weee just standing and watching me, not even tried to come to help carry the bags. There was no other customers. The reason they still had their job was because we were donating stuffs. I would definitely donate elsewhere next time. They were not worth my effort.

This site used to be ok a few years ago. Since then however, the staff are just so rude. I had literally stood outside my car waiting while the attendant was playing on his phone, then when he finally looked up, he was mad that I didn't move the car 5 feet forward to be next to a bin where I had to lug my stuff into. Other times they pretty much just grunt at you. This is not a pandemic problem. I don't expect them to be fawning with appreciation. I just don't want to be treated poorly for trying to do the right thing and donate usable stuff. It's a poor customer service problem. I will take my stuff elsewhere.

There was 2 guys and one was really nice. They don’t take furniture, but they have a contact of a business who will pick it up for a fee.

There is a guy here in his 40s with a gray New York Yankees hat, black glasses, a gray hoodie, and black shoes who was the rudest Goodwill worker I have ever met. He was sitting lounging in a chair out front on his phone and when I showed up he proceeded to rudely tell me “We’re closed”, point at the sign on the container with the hours, walked away, then proceeded to say “Have a good day” in response to anything else I asked. He would not give his name. I am throwing my donation in a dumpster, to hell with this guy.

I was called lazy when I only had two items to donate and I was mocked and laughed at by the attendant when I asked for a receipt as I did not know they had switched to a QR code process. Will not be returning after the encounter I just had. Doing a good deed and donating should not make you leave feeling disrespected and humiliated

I have been here several times and the customer service is the worst I have even experienced. They close earlier than they say and then rudely say no. I waited another time just sitting there for hem to finish coffee before coming to do anything. And just today, the same rude guy told me I could not pull in because there was a truck in the way preventing me from keeping going. I said, okay, I'll just back up no problem. He said - no (his favorite word) and just walked away. Never been treated like this anywhere and its every single time.

I got there 5 mins before closing to drop off my donations and one of the workers was angrily shooing me away saying that they were closed. I said it was still 5 mins to close and then he told me to hurry up and went about yelling and complaining. Said he didn't understand why people have all day to drop off things but wait til the last minute, to which I told him, "Working". He said I should have came in the morning instead before work but they open at 9 am. People are working from 7-8am til 4:30-5pm! What?!Anyway, the other worker was nice. Smiled and waved at goodbye which is why I gave it 2 stars :)

2 stars, as I've found this otherwise-conveniently-located site the least-accommodating of all drop-off locations for Goodwill and other charities: Employees, here, simply aren't "nice." Other reviewers chastise negative reviewers for their attitude, but accepting and distributing charitable donations is a business: If donators don't receive a warm welcome, they simply won't come back and donate more. I learned two hard lessons, during my most recent visit: #1: This site does not accept furniture -- even when disassembled to simplify transport #2: If you're likely to arrive within 15 minutes of closing time: don't bother going. Details: I'd disassembled a new-condition game table and packaged all of its accessories (game paddles, pool queues and balls, etc.), for delivery, but I'd arrived 10 minutes before the site's 4:30pm closing time. While the site employee berated me for arriving so close to closing time -- literally walking along side me, as he instructed me to load his storage locker, as he needed to close things down, I loaded the gaming table accessories bag into the locker, and I then proceeded to take the disassembled table into the locker. The employee stopped me, saying he could not accept the table, as his site couldn't accept furniture. I dejectedly returned the table to my car, as he locked up the containers. Only then did I realize that the container held the accessories bag -- rendering the table, useless (and making the table-less bag equally-useless). Too late! The only option offered was to take the table 15 miles away to Goodwill's San Diego facility on Rosecrans Drive. Whereas I really wanted someone to enjoy this barely-used game table that originally sold for $250, I decided that I would not spend another $20 in gas and an hour's travel time to deliver a table that would likely never be rejoined with its accessories bag, anyway. I'm now planning to demolish the table and toss in in the garbage. Results: - I'm saddened that a barely-used toy I no longer need can't be enjoyed by someone else, and further disappointed that it has to go in our overflowing landfill - I'm soured on my Goodwill donation experience, and I will likely no longer donate to Goodwill Nobody wins!

I've been coming here for over 10 years. These complaining reviews made me sad because I have always had a lovely experience here. In the midst of a pandemic I think there can be some more patience and empathy given to the staff here- I came here a few times since 2020 to donate lots of clothes (along with everyone else) and the employees were nothing but friendly and kind. There was a long line when I came at the end of the day, but that is to be expected! I wanted to leave this review to let the staff working these donation bins know their hard work is appreciated. Thank you for always being a reliable spot for myself and my family to donate!
