Crystal Pier is a unique and historic wooden pier in San Diego's Pacific Beach, offering a serene and beautiful coastal experience. It is a public place open during daylight hours, providing sweeping ocean views, refreshing salty air, and a great place to watch the majestic, magical sunset. The pier is very clean and not crowded, making it ideal for a romantic night, a family walk, or a good time alone. The iconic landmark features the Crystal Pier Hotel, a collection of charming updated cottages right on the pier over the water. Reservations are needed months in advance. The adjacent beach has silky sand, and the nearby boardwalk stretches for miles with eclectic shops, restaurants, and gift shops. Visitors can enjoy a cool walk on the pier, watch surfers, or go pier fishing. While sometimes the gate is closed, it is public, and parking can be complicated nearby. It is an absolute gem and a timeless, tranquil spot highly recommended for all travelers.
Really neat to see and open to the public during the day. It was really quiet too since most people assume it's private due to the gate. Unfortunately you couldn't go to the end due to the high waves.
