Don't get fooled by their advertisements In the media . This is a stinky, dark dungeon that they called it hotel . Place is located in Downtown SandDiego ca. near a place called gaslamp quarter . Its surrounded by transients , lots of closed businesses and dirty smelly streets. Not a secure area at all. Hotel is an old bank which the main attraction of it is a broken vault .its an smelly old building . Rooms are small , old, damp, with locked windows at all time . You feel short of fresh air all the time .it feels more like a jail room . sound of police syrons and ambulances, loud noises, smell of urine are an ongoing adventure that Marriott promises you when you are making a reservation nothing more. It's an overpriced ,old, smelly , place with $60 parking fee in the middle of transient and drug users and lowlife crowds. Strongly not recommended . This is not the only place in gaslamp quarter that has turned to a dump all courtyard Marriott in this area are very much the same . Stay away from gas lamp quarter in down town San Diego specialty courtyard Martiots.

The staff were so friendly & helpful with everything. San Diego is my favorite staycation location with every visit being different & for once I was within a 10 minute walk/drive from entertainment & a variety of foods. Valet parking was worth every penny, just follow instructions & text 15 minutes prior. Also helps to communicate about the next time you'll need your car so they can Tetris your car accordingly. The building is stunning & being a former bank definitely provided the space to give standard sized rooms vs Manhattan style/sized rooms offered at other equally beautiful & old locations in the area (but those turned out to be the haunted hotels anyway lol true products of the their time) 10/5 stars, definitely coming back!

Horrible customer service. Told them I was double charged on an item and asked them to removed it said they were going to and they never did called about this problem multiple times!

This hotel is conveniently located within a 15-minute drive of various attractions, making it an ideal accommodation choice. One thing to note is that the hotel exclusively offers valet parking, which may not be everyone's preference, but the convenience of multiple in-and-out privileges certainly offsets any inconvenience. Additionally, there is a resort fee, but fear not, as it comes bundled with a plethora of fantastic perks. The inclusion of two complimentary beverages, be it beer or wine, is a fantastic way to unwind after a day of exploration. The real gem in the package is the one-hour harbor tour, providing a unique perspective of San Diego's coastal beauty. For those seeking more adventurous activities, the two-hour paddleboard or kayak rental and one-hour bike rentals are perfect for exploring the scenic surroundings. What pleasantly surprised me was the thoughtful touch of a food voucher worth $8. This voucher can be used for breakfast, adding an extra layer of convenience for those looking to start their day with a delicious meal. The rooms were spacious and well-appointed, ensuring a comfortable stay. The staff was friendly, offering excellent service throughout my visit.

When you take a look back in time when the City of San Diego was going through the many hard times and the buildings of many large businesses and the many of the large businesses were the big banks and the many of them were located along the main street of Broadway. During the many years the city has grown, and the many historical buildings were changing, and the banking industry was one that was creating larger banks and the larger safes that most bank robbers were unable to get through there were some, yet they were gunned down. There is one building that that holds one of the largest safes in the basement when you have a large bank most the vaults were in the basement of the building. Walking through the main interior of the building it feels like you have crossed back into the 1930s and you have come to the bank to make a deposit you can feel the history and the many things that have gone inside the building just due to the size and the structure. When you walk about the building you can see the many pictures of when the building had first started the building of the bank and the many floors that it took to complete the m any floors. The many pictures on the wall some of them can't be replaced showing the true side of San Diego and the many places during the 1930s and 1940s. When you come to the Marriott Courtyard you can see the sheer size of the building and the way many buildings that had looked before with the architecture that still stands today. The many floors of the bank building must still have the many things that are up there with the long mail drop and the dumb waiters that are used by the many hotels here in the City of San Diego. The Courtyard Marriott Building is one Hotel that has so many tales and the great stories of the many shootouts that may have taken place when the place was a bank and the many spaces along the many areas were the tellers if you tried to rob the bank you were in for a big surprise. The lobby of the building it has the Hotel feel to it and the people that work behind the desk and those in the dining room has such a great story to tell of the building and the great history. As a Yelp Reviewer this is one building that has everything and the feel of the 1930s and the 1950s when you come in the marble floors and the walls tell you so much and the feel of the lighting tells you have entered one of the largest banks back in the 1930s. The location its wonderful for a hotel and the remodeling they have there is more work to be done to the main lobby and the dinni9ng and bar.

Was in town for business. Hotel is beautiful and the manager, Michael was great. Staff was pleasant and rooms are clean. Located a couple blocks away from restaurants and bars was convenient.

Decided to stay here an extra night while in town and found it exceptionally beautiful with rich hues of historical design elements. Price was about $260 a night and overnight parking is $58 per night. Room was basic with a high end luxury feel. An additional element of security I appreciate was the simple fact that your room key will only allow you to go to your room floor and the elevator only works with your activated room key card. Appreciated how clean everything felt and would likely be back to stay when visiting gas lamp for a night on the town.

Our stay was pretty good overall ! Keep in mind there isn't parking on site, only valet is offered and self parking is going to be at any other Public parking lot around the building. We got upgraded to a suite and it was pretty nice and spacious. The hotel has been recently renovated so that's a plus. Michael was very helpful and attentive on our last night stay! We had a small inconvenience in our room and he tried his best at solving it , thank you so much Michael ! The location is close and a walking distance to almost everything in downtown. I would stay here again :)

The hotel itself is a beautiful old building that used to be a bank. The location is convention to just about everything - r just a couple blocks up from gas lamp, the interstate in either direction is not very far, a ton of food options being right there in down town. The area itself wasn't terrible but go a few blocks one way and the homeless population is terrible (I will say while they had a very large homeless population, none one really bothered you as I have had in other cities). Seems like it might have been newly renovated and the room was actually quite nice. The bed was hard as a rock which sucked for me, the bath tub drained really slowly, and the AC seemed to be terrible (turned it down to 55 most nights and it didn't seem to cool off much). Could have used another trash can in the room (only had one in the bathroom). It was valet only at $54 a day which seems ridiculous but the valet guys were really great - helped with luggage, opened doors when we pulled up, etc. The food at the hotel was kind of expensive but I think that is just the area honestly I'm sure all that makes it sound terrible but it really wasn't. Everyone working there was great and helpful, the rooms were clean, the building is beautiful, nice little gym for a hotel. Despite the people in the room next to me partying very loudly until 3am Monday morning, it wasn't a bad stay.

I stayed here for 2 nights. Rooms get a *nice* view of the parking lot. The AC was too noisy and the towels were stained. The pillows were so flat we kept asking the front desk to bring us new ones but they never did. We also asked for a new phone because ours was broken and they never brought that either. Wouldn't stay here again.

Michael from the from desk was really helpful tonight, he tried helping with our tv in the room not working. We kept calling the desk for assistance and he was friendly and fast to assist. Great job bro!

I've stayed in a lot of hotels during my lifetime (for business and pleasure); this is among the most beautiful I've ever visited. Marriott converted an old bank and wisely kept all the beautiful architectural features which made staying here feel like staying in a museum. This hotel and location were chosen by my wife's company...so I wouldn't have chosen it on a normal basis. It was honestly a treat to experience being treated by the staff as a non-Marriott loyalty member. I give the team here an A plus. We were checked in early. Also the staff noticed that we were assigned a room with on king bed (there were 4 of us) and made the change with no charge to us. Our room was well appointed with a beautiful view of downtown San Diego. Also, it's located near the "gas lamp district" and all the wonderful dining and entrainment opportunities. To my knowledge there was no pool but it does have a wonderful workout gym area. My only "negative" is that it's a "valet only " hotel. The parking is off site...and it can take around 20mins to get your car. That said, I'm not sure that any hotel in the downtown area offers self parking I'm not into valet but I think the team did a great job. I'm a fan of this specific hotel...we were treated very well by everyone despite not being a Marriott loyalty member. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone! I don't think you'll find a hotel much better. I'd even forgo my loyalty membership to another hotel to stay here and if you know me that's saying a lot!

Is this hotel nice? Sure, it’s alright. Will they add an erroneous restaurant/room service charge to your invoice after you check out? Absolutely. Will customer service be helpful and remove the charge in a quick and efficient manner? Nope, not really.

Courtyard Marriott SD is a cool old former bank building that if you look past the more modern updates to "hotelify" it, you'll find a details, architecture and relics you don't typically see in modern day hotels. Be sure to go downstairs and look at the vault which is now a conference room. It was fun to look at many of the other unique elements and imagine the building and it's history when it was a bank. The staff was very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The location is great for its proximity to being able to walk anywhere.
