Great experience. Had questions about bonsai and they answered them, they have all of the garden supplies you could ask for plus a huge variety of plants, seeds, etc. knowledgeable staff that goes out of their way to help. Will definitely be coming back.

The term "hidden gem" is bandied about far too often, so let's just call City Farmers Nursery an "absolutely unexpected treasure chest draped with moss and twining ivy." Or something. In any case, I definitely didn't expect the nursery to extend so far back from the slightly cramped parking lot, nor did I expect to find goats, chickens, rabbits, rescue parrots, or turtles present in their respective large enclosures. Plus a friendly cat roaming the walkways. Nor was I prepared for the biggest wind chime I've ever seen hanging above the second (!) bonsai section further in the back. It was sort of like a trip to the forest, but also the jungle, but also the zoo, except none of those things because no bug spray was required and you could buy all the plants. Also there was a tic tac toe board with mini pumpkins for playing pieces, which you rarely see in the forest.
Even if you don't think you want to buy a plant, coming here just might be the most relaxing, uplifting thing you do all day. Highly recommend.

My kids and I stumbled upon this nursery after having a bad experience at a different nursery. We went in goals of what we were hoping to achieve with the circumstances we have in our yard. Our expectations were blown away with the customer service we experienced. They took the time to hear us and help us find the trees that would work in our yard. We have been back several times now, and will only come here for our plant and gardening needs.

Happy Mother's Day! Always a great choice on a Sunday Funday! Hubby got the biscuits and gravy and I got their salad with grilled chicken and a pretzel bagel with cream cheese. getting two glasses of mimosa was $2 less than an entire carafe so we went big. the music was delightful.

This is the best nursery I've found in San Diego so far! Huge selection of plants, and the workers were very helpful. They also sell live lady bugs, which is what I originally came for. I left with my lady bugs and so much more. ??

Favorite nursery in San Diego! Grateful for this piece of nature in city heights. The staff is all so nice, helpful, and patient. Come here all the time with my toddler and he loves the goats, donkeys, and bunnies! Great plant selection and just a fun spot overall!

First-time visitor today - How have I not been to this miraculous, abundant, friendly place!?! It is Amazing! Sam immediately scooped us up and helped us find the perfect citrus tree solutions. We were out in minutes, but could have stayed all day to enjoy their cafe and amazing grounds. The vibe here is outstanding, with hints and scents that take me back to 1970s SoCal. So happy to have found this family and their amazing nursery.

A great place to shop for plants and pots, and to see some cute animals! There's a small parking lot.

Very community-oriented independent nursery. I love that they frequently host free classes for people to come and learn. There is a good assortment of fruits and vegetables, and I was very impressed how lowly priced fruit trees and plants like grapes, blueberries, and figs were. They are one of the only local shops I can find bareroot strawberries (5 for $3). Also, the seed offerings inside were really good in terms of varieties and prices. They also had onion and garlic (including elephant!). Very friendly staff that seem to enjoy their work.
